New Shirt for 2004

Out of all new tennis shirts, I think Sergio Tachinni (worn by Escude, Robredo) and Reebok (Andy Roddick) is among the best and the worst is of course worn by LLeyton Hewitt in the Hopman Cup (maybe some of FILA designers have been employed in Nike).

The weird thing is that Tim Henman gets to wear the latest Adidas tennis shirt, usually Safin will wear them first (he is still wearing the old ugly green black shirt).

Another weird thing is that all FILA sponsored players ~ Phillippoussis and Schuettler wore blue outfits. Where are those ugly red colour?

Grosjean is still wearing those one colour Lacoste polo but the shoes he is wearing is ugly ~ a red and black nike Breathe.

What do u guys think?

Bet they're saving something special for Safin now...

I think I would like to see a six month ban on the color blue in men's tennis clothes (adidas is the worst at this). How about some green, red, purple? Anything but blue. And could adidas please get over the idea that all of their shirts and all of their shorts have to have three stripes on them? It really limits their options.

On the other hand, 3 of the adidas players look better without any shirt at all, so maybe they could just put a temporary tattoo of the flower logo on the biceps of Gambill, Kiefer and Safin from now on. Ratings would definitely improve...

I agree about the new Reebok shirt. I saw Andy wearing the black version of the shirt during his Charity Season in December, and I think it looks nice.

I'm wondering if the reason Marat is not wearing the new Adidas shirt is because he prefers shirts without collars (more of a t-shirt, than a polo), and Tim does not.

I'm not sure if anyone has seen the new photos of Lleyton's last Hopman Cup match, but he's wearing a red shirt, with black accents. I think it looks fairly decent, although it really reminds me of Schuettler before Fila went with this new style of shirt.

Just a note that Mikhail Youhzny is also wearing the new Fila shirt, as is Wayne Ferreira. Also, Joshua Eagle (Pat Rafter's doubles partner) is wearing the new Nike outfit that Lleyton wore yesterday (the white with red accent shirt). And Patrick Rafter is wearing an all-white Reebok outfit that is the same style as Roddick's new shirt, but all one color.

Andy, Lleyton and Rainer look hideous. Marat's shirt is old and ugly, Tim is nice. I love blue, especially the one juanqui wore in 2001 :hearts:

Andy- classic and very nice
Marat- same old boring crap (wake up adidas  )
Tim- boring as well (adidas sucks ass)
Lleyton- tolerable
Rainer- just a color change wow:rolleyes: the blue looks like its metalic, the red version was much nicer

I hope Marat's one can be different for the upcoming tournaments...

I quite like Rainier's one, I like Fila, specially in men.

Roddick's and Hewitt's ones are ok, not that attractive, but are not ugly. I think they're just OK for tennis at least, though I'd prefer Roddick's one.

I don't like Tim's one....it's boring, can Adidas please wake up as Naldo said! I'm tired of the 3 stripes classic styles, or those boring colours, take risks. I think Adidas is much better for women, than for men.

The pix are too small to give a good opinion but I saw Marat, Roger and Hewitt's shirts before. Marat's will probably have a new design when AO arrives and I don't like Hewitt and Roger new outfit.

The blue version of Fila shirt will take a little while to get used to but like the red one, I think it's great. I saw the shirt worn by Misha and it also looks great on him. But I think Rainer will be better with the red one.

I like the Reebok shirt worn by Henman. I also like Hewitt's red shirt with the balck accents (not exactly loving the white with red stripes, though). You guys MUST admit that this new Nike shirt is 10,567 times better than their hideous shirts last year.

OMG, did Nike run out of things for Lleyton to wear??? His outfit was disgusting! And Safin should move onto a new design, his current outfit is just too out-dated... oh and andy and tim looked nice.

tripthemighty,
Rafter is wearing a Reebok Shirt, not Adidas and the new Adidas shirt Henman is wearing is without collar (this is the first time I saw him wearing a non-collar shirt for a match ~ he used to wear polos, maybe he wants to change for a good fortune for this year, hope he will! ;) )

Leo,
Henman is wearing Adidas not Reebok.

Here is a pic of Sergio TAchini

atptennis - Whoops, my mistake on the Rafter shirt. I was thinking Reebok, but typed Adidas after multpile references to their line.

And I've been pouring through the new **************** photos of Tim, and have to agree that the new shirt does not appear to have a full collar. In numerous pics, it had looked to me like it did, but I think that is the way the shirt buckles up at the neck. It is more like a polo, though, in the way that it is pieced together rather than one solid sheet. And it also has a button up front. I hope this new change in shirt design will change Tim's fortunes as well. ;)

I like the Sergio Tacchini outfit, that blue is nice! As for Xavier's shirt, I think it would look better if it was in white, not this yellowish colour. And Hewitt and Blake's outfit at the Hopman Cup really remind me of Fila--the red and white combination.. ;)

I don't like powder blue, but other than that the Tacchini shirt is nece.

I like Lleyton's shirt. It would look much nicer if he wore a size or two smaller because of the stripes. I'll wait to see it on a player who doesn't like their clothing so baggy.

Puma is all right, but a little boring.

I liked the Adidas shirt. It's crazy to complain about Adidas using three stripes. It's like complaining about Nike using the swoosh.

Havok
01-09-2004, 04:16 PM
yeah star, but the Nike swoosh is much smaller in comparison to the huge 2 stripes down every single article of clothing adidas makes for tennis. but they don't mind using their actual logo on the anna kounikova clothes;tape: they can start to take a way these stupid stripes and go with their simple logo. and that Malisse top, he wore the exact same thing during the US Open 2003:o the Tachinni slothes are nice though, but the blue is a little to pastelish/metalic for me anyways

LOL@to the banned shirt....

I think that Taccini's "mark" or "signature" in some way are the dots, I think....have you seen the shorts that Ferrero or Tommy used to wear on 2001 or 2000? They all have some sort of dots or little squares. It's ugly.

Ferrero had a GREAT shirt for half of 2001. He wore it at Roland Garros, all the way through the USO. No stupid dots, that I recall. It's been pretty much downhill since then, save the white/black outfits from last year.

Comments from a self proclaimed fashionista:

Agree, dots are dumb.

Tye-dye is passe.

Wifebeaters belong on asphalt tennis courts in Jersey. Don't care who puts one on, they are hideous and crass.

Lacoste looks best when pressed with extra starch (see Clement for details on how to keep the crease in a sleeve, even while playing)

I think my parents had a car way back in the 70s that was the same color as that Tacchini blue...there is a reason cars do NOT come in that color anymore.

Terrycloth elastic sweatbands are yukky. Bandanas sporting Provencal prints are fabulous. However, wearing them a la Guns and Roses is NOT(hello, Flipper, yes, I mean YOU.)

Please refrain from wearing colored skivvies underneath the white shorts. I have tried to emphasize the gravity of this to my young daughters, at least they have figured it out.

Boxers under shorts are not really a fashion statement, especially when playing professionally. (Ancic in Indy 2002, obscure Czech in Delray 2001, cant remember the name, remember the bunchy blue boxers)

If your clothing must be loud, at least look good in it. (Rafter in the floral shorts, Guga's Diadora)

I prefer all whites myself, lots more fun to watch when they get all sweaty and stuff. Who ever said it was all about the tennis? :)

Talking about Roddick's outfits, the ones I hated the most were ALL the ones of 2002, those blue, red, and white, with little stripes I think, and worse coz his visor era was yet on, plus all those spikes he had (call it hair) terrible.

But this year's one is ok. :)
