Hopefully someone who is going to Toronto who has a clue about Toronto hotels and area will read this.

I'm going crazy with hotels. I have one near the tournament but its expensive. Downtown is even more expensive so I'm looking near the airport.

Looks like its easy to get a bus from the airport hotels to the subway which is only a couple stops to the tournament stop. Is that right?

I hear that you can stay at a university near the tournament for really cheap housing, but it's dorms so then of course its shared bathrooms and all, but if you really only care about a place to sleep, it may be an option?

Thanks for the info! But I don't like shared bathrooms. S

Someone who lives in Toronto told me that the airport isn't good because its too far.

But I did find something good relatively close to the touranment that isn't too bad price wise.

Its the downtown hotels that are very expensive.

 the university's not near the venue, it's right where the venue is

oh and NicoFan, try looking up hotels in a town called "Markham". it's where I live, it's not too boring not too busy, got good restaurants and if you get one that's on "Highway 7", there is a bus route right on Highway 7 that takes you straight to York University where the venue is. It's a bit uptown so it should be cheaper than downtown.

My mom and I have decided to take 2 days to do an 8 hour drive. We're going to stop somewhere around Syracuse ( ) and then the second day stop for a while in Niagara Falls since I've never been, and then get to Toronto on Sunday :)

I'd really avoid anything downtown, considering it's likely about an hour from the tournament site and VERY expensive (but really nice ).

Markham will likely be cheap, but you're going to be FAR east of the tournament site, and getting from the airport (which is FAR western toronto) may become a bitch.

http://www.superpages.com/global/hotels/toronto-canada-hotel86240.html

That hotel is probably 20 minutes from the tournament site (right by buses and each to get to) and still feels like Toronto ;)

Hi everybody here....

Im having some trouble and need help PLEASE !

Erm... Hello everybody here !

I was wondering if you could help me... is about transporta tion...and hotels... hehe
I have never been at Toronto before and Im having trouble with hotels and buses.... I feel lost in the universe !!! hehe
I first booked at Holiday Inn Express North York and was going to walk to the Rexall Centre... But it is far away from Toronto's main attraction s.... and some people told me the area in ugly...
Then, I booked in a Marriott in the centre of the city and will take the subway to finch station... and then, as far as I understand, will need to take a bus to the university .... 60C or 60F.... but I dont know how much this will take... http://www.andyroddick.com/forum/Smileys/default/huh.gif Anyone here knows http://www.andyroddick.com/forum/Smileys/default/huh.gif

Which option do you think will be better http://www.andyroddick.com/forum/Smileys/default/huh.gif Is the public transporta tion in toronto easy and good http://www.andyroddick.com/forum/Smileys/default/huh.gif? I'm going by myself...

Thank you very much for your help.

It's about 15 miles from downtown Toronto to York University. You can get info on the public transport from www.ttc.ca You'd be best to take the subway then transfer to a bus to get there from downtown (about an hour to travel). The last two years, I've not seen a day that has been sold out, so tickets are usually available day by day.

I live in downtown Toronto and I go to school at York University. It doesn't take me an hour to get to school, just 45 minutes

The closest subway station to the Rexall Centre is DOWNSVIEW station (not Finch). From Downsview you can either take the 196 Express Bus, which comes frequently but does not pass by the Rexall Centre (just the entrance of York University) OR the 106 bus which passes by the Rexall Centre but does not come by often.

Hope you guys have fun here!

if i were you, i'd just try to stay at york university.

the rexall centre is on york university's campus, and frankly york university is not close to downtown. if you're in a car and the traffic is clear, then yeah it's not That long. Traditionally traffic in this city can be horrible. But really, it's not a tournament in the middle of downtown, it'd be a day trip to go downtown. There might be a GO train that goes from york to Union station downtown (maybe, i haven't checked).

Another thing about driving, the parking is expensive, it's like $12 for the day.

But the venue itself is awesome, most of the practice courts are basically show courts with waist-high fences you can get great pictures. There are a few practice courts that are pushed back from the fan area, but most of the big names take the exposed ones :)

and the stadium's just beautiful.

If anybody else is going to be around then and wants to have a little MTF meeting, drop me a PM and we'll arrange something. :) I will have a nontennis fan friend with me one of the two days, but he's enthusiastic thinks that Baghdatis is da shit, so it's all good.

Hey everyone!
I'm bringing my boyfriend to Sunday qualies, mainly for the free 300-level tickets (free tickets, right? Right?) because I'd feel bad making him pay for a ticket when he's not THAT in to tennis to begin with. (Of course, I'll be going with my brother the tennis fan on Monday, hopefully Tuesday)

Has anyone ever gone to qualies where they gave out free session tickets? Gates open at 9:30am, so...what's a good time to arrive at the venue in order to be (almost) sure of getting tickets? It would suck to get all the way to York U and then not get tickets :(

Thanks so much!

You'll get tickets for sure if you arrive there by 9 45. The only problem is that the line is usually CRAZY long with families, and you don't get your tickets directly. Instead you go through this maze of receiving cool free things, which works too :p. Either come by 9 10 to beat the most of the line, or dont get there until 9 45, 10 to have come after the crazy wait.

I live in Toronto and will be around to watch the matches I bet on.

If you are a hot chick and planning on attending the event, lemme know and we can have an amazing week.

Is anyone going to be holding up a huge MTF sign or something so I can laugh?

what really sucks though is how far the site is to downtown. They really need to move the event to a downtown location...there are so many.

NO you blinking idiot, you have a reading comprehension problem.

you stated they should hold the tournament in downtown Toronto, that they have 'many' places to hold it-- i asked, WHERE, you fool. "Many' places my ass.
