See you all there :) :wavey:

I'm a member so I'm going every day. (I get in for free) :wavey:

This is my first year as a member so I can't wait. :D

I'll be arriving very early so you'll probably see me sitting behind the photographers in the front row of the members' pavilion.

You can get tickets through the website or you can call :) I got mine through the website no problem. They called us because somehow my mom didn't enter her first name, but I spoke to someone and everything was pretty easy.

I am hoping to go along as a photographer, if I dont recieve a pass, I will buy a few grounds passes for 3/4 days, and come along like last year! No point buying a centre court ticket for this event. I can make everyday, I may come to the qualies (but that depends if I go so surbiton instead on that day). Also not sure if to go on the second saturday/sunday as I have eastbourne qualies :D Hard choices to be made.

Hopefully though I will be able to buy a grounds pass for the days I want to go, I know last year they sold out for a few days very quickly! But seeing as I dont know if I will be going as a photographer, I dont want to waste my money and then end up losing it.

I havent been on centre court  I only had grounds passes last year. What is the position like for photographers there? Is it close to the court? Or a way back?

Oh also, I emailed the tournament and they never got back to me... but have any of you gone to the qualifying before? What's the deal there? Do you need to get tickets in advance or can you just kind of wander in?

Yes its free, and hardly anyone turns up! Last year I went, and there was no one around when play was due to start  Saturday, sunday is both free

PS I am not sure what time play starts on the week, on the outside courts? Last year was 11.30, not sure if its 11 this year?

I have just found out, that trains from eastbourne to london have been changed so it means most likely if play starts at 11am, for either surbiton/queens I will not arrive on time. Maybe 30 minutes late, which is a total pain in the ass considering how busy queens gets. You have to often arrive an hour early on court 1, to get a damn seat  I will have no hope if I am turning up late. I just hope I get a pass.

It's right next to the court.

When I came as a guest last year, there were photographers sitting between me and the players. I was sitting at the front of the members pavilion, just behind where the players sit at the change of ends. It's also where the players walk on and off the court, just behind the umpire's chair.

Quallies weekend is free? What's the nearest train stop?

Liverpool Lime Street-London Euston train takes 2 1/2 hours.

Then where do I go from there?

You need to go to barons court tube station, its a 30 second walk from queens club. Its a 25 minute tube journey, only zone 1 and 2 luckily, so you dont have to pay for 3-4 zones.

I was lucky enough to go to Queen's in 04. I thought it was an awesome event. Great courts and players and this really unique English feel. Saw those drivers you guys are talking about. Pretty funny. At first some of them look quite cute but then you get up close and realise.....wonder if they come on to the players.

 Yeah, I must say I like queens also. Quite a compact place, but a relatively high standard/quality tournament (entry list comes out tomorrow, but it has many top 10 players committed already). I had heard lots of negative comments before I went, but personally I dont see much wrong with the event. Apart from eastbourne, queens has the best grasscourts in england I think.

The qualies event is good too, the draw is as strong as surbitons main draw the few days before  and its free entry too of course.

Haha, I did the same last year. I went to surbiton/queens the days I didnt have exams, but I did shite in my exams to be honest. Passed most of them, but didnt get great scores, so this year I am gonna hold off going to surbiton until my exams are finished! Luckily, because of the way the week has fallen compared to last year, my exams finish mid surbiton week and not mid queens week like last year.

Mind due, I cant really revise more than 2 hours or so a day so even if I was at home, I doubt I would have done much more than the few hours I did on the train each day

Indeed, I have tryed applying for a pass for a website. If I fail to get a pass, I will not be coming. Because of the fact that tickets are sold out  and even if I did want to queue on the day (the trains are now running an hour later compared to last year, so I wouldnt arrive in time to queue). Anyway thats irrelevant, I would never queue for tickets. I just have to hope I get accredited.

Strange news about the qualies on saturday and sunday:

Wristbands will be given out on entry to the Queen's Club from around 1
0am.
Matches are also scheduled to start around this time.

Please note that in the event of rain, if matches are moved to indoor
courts spectators will not be admitted.

Where are the indoor courts anyway? I thought they only had astro turf courts and grass courts outside

joeb_uk

Also it seems major problems with the tube during queens week, you are unable to go on the tube to barons court from victoria. This is pathetic, it means it will be impossible to get there.

Just checked and it seems only the saturday and sunday are effected. There is no service running on either of those days. Not even a bus, or another tube.

barons court (queens tube station) is shut :( so I cant get there what a stupid week to do maintenance and not provide transport.

Many players do, they will just have to get off at the stop before and cars will no doubt collect them.

The indoor courts are near the player lounge - which when the tournament is not on, is more indoor courts. The shale courts and astro are more visible of course.

For those going during the qualifying weekend, it isn't that far from Hammersmith to Queens Club. I'd say no more than a 20 minute walk, perhaps a bit less. And there are buses in the area too. I live in Shepherds Bush and while it would be easier to get there by tube I should be able to walk it in 40 minutes. While I agree the amount of weekend closures on the Underground at the moment is pretty pathetic, walking can be a good way of getting around too.

Had a look chris, and see its about 37 minutes on the tube from victoria. Double the time :D

But, according to google, its only 0.9 miles away from queens club (hammersmith) so should only be a 10 minute walk or so? Route seems simple too:

1. 1. Head south from Butterwick - go 106 ft
2. 2. Bear right at Talgarth Road - go 0.1 mi
3. 3. Turn left at Fulham Palace Road - go 0.5 mi
4. 4. Turn left at Greyhound Road - go 0.4 mi

Will have to make a choice I guess on friday, but thanks again for the info! Always nice to have locals knowing the drill :yeah:

Well allstar, having a grounds pass at queens is useless really  Last year, I arrived about 30 minutes before ancic-gasquet, and I queued to get onto court for 2 hours. I had only got in, after the match was done. Its only good if you plan to go on the other courts apart from court 1 (there are a few other courts used alot during the first few days so you will be ok), as on court 1 you wont get a seat if you leave for the toilet :help:

Queens sell too many tickets for the size of the grounds.
