Let`s hope he can win another title here. He´s back to where he won his first ATP tournament. He needs to focus....i just saw him in the stand of his Rally Team, he looks more worried about racing than tennis...

Hello, I've been trying for some time now to find a clip of that singing/dancing video where your icon came from, but it seemed that all the links I've came across have became inactivated. I was wondering if any of you know a place where I can still download the clip?

I've heard David singing a Spanish song with his friends and absolutely loved it. I would really appreciate if anyone can provide me a link to the music video~~~ Thanks!!

Hi all.

I just got back from Jamor ( where the open is played ) and I am really tired. The week is just begining, I know. Well, I have not seen David today. I haven't looked for him anyway. A friend told me he was in the players lounge, but I think I had another shyness ( sp? ) attack, and I didn't want to go see him. :o Happens a lot to me, when he is around. I was also told he was practising, and was in a good mood. Looking good and all.

I will definatly see him tomorow, at the match. And hopefully will see him everyday until Sunday. :)

Anyway, I had a great day today. I have seen Marat, awesome like he always is. And saw Tursunov for the first time, I think he has a new fan. I also saw Justin Gimelstob for the first time as well, he is nice I gotta say. And he won a match on clay, which was a surprise for me, a good one though. :)

This is WTA, but I was very happy to see Paola Suarez. She is great, and I'm very glad that she came.

Okay, tomorow I will definetly try to fight my monsters, and go to say hi to David ( he was always so nice to me, so why not  ). And wish him good luck for the match of course. There's also Moya and Marat too see tomorow, this is great. I love Estoril!

Eww, what a match! I am glad to be finally home.

I saw him and spoke to him before the match started, he was feeling good, confident and glad to be back at Estoril. So I went to the Central Court with the feeling that he would have an easy victory, well at least a non stressfull match. Yeah, right.

When he got broken in the second game, I knew that this was not going to be good. This was when I left for my first ciggie. Second time was when he had to save the first, of the three set points he end up saving. And at the second set, I couldn't almost sit in my chair. Man, he was driving me crazy!

Like someone posted, ( I'm definetly going to tell him this tomorow, cause it's SO true! ) there's the easy way, there's the hard way, and there's David way. And that is exactly what happened today, the 'David way' was on court, though to be honest I would have prefered the easy way. But he won, and was very happy in the end. :) Me, I was more reliefed then happy in fact.

There was actually a moment there when I thought he was not going to win today, he scared me big time!
I also have to say, that the wind wasn't helping at all. Yesterday, everyone was very happy because there was no wind at all. ( Everyone complains that Estoril is very windy every year, and that is a fact. ) But today, around Moya-Saretta second set, we started to feel the wind. And it hasn't stoped ever since. Saretta, complained A LOT! I understand him, it's very annoying. And it gets harder to play.

Zabaleta was in the boxes, seeing David's match and he was as nervous as I was! I could definetly tell that. Oh I'm glad Mariano is here btw, I missed him. :)

Let me just add, for those who are interested, that the orange is back. I got to say he looks kinda good with that shirt. :)

Okay, tomorow there's more too see.
So, asta mañana! And Vamos Daveeed! :)

Guys, thanks.

Well there's not much to say about our David today. He was at Jamor, I saw him and spoke to him for a while after he practised. He feels good, so he said. I haven't seen his practise so I can't really tell what I think. My cousin was there though, she said : he can't serve. But she is always very critical when it comes to David so....
Anyway, she is not very far from the true and we all know that. ;)

The day was good. :)

I'm a bit sad that Marat lost. But Nikolay totally deserved to win that match. I was reading GM, and some people were saying that was Marat who lost that match, and not Nikolay who won it. That is a lie. Davydenko was the best player on court today, he was focused the whole time, while Marat was not. He won period.

I'm VERY VERY  surprised with Justin Gimelstob. Defeating Nicolas Massu, on clay! Come on, that has got to be something. Way to go Justin, I like this guy.

I love Flavia Penneta, btw. She is a sweetheart, and I really hope she can win the whole thing.

Okay the day will be long tomorow, again!
David play's late in the afternoon, but before that I have my sweetie Frederico Gil to cheer for. I'm pretty sure that Tursunov is going to win, but I still have hope. How wonderfull would it be if he could win that match? Cheer for him guys, please!

Guys, I'm so ecstatic today!!

Because David won ( of course ), but mainly because of Frederico. I've known him for a few years now, I know about his hard work and of how much he wanted to have an oportunity like this. He totally deserves it, and I really hope this will boost his confidence to go up in the rankings. Fred will play David in the quarters, and I'm so torn about this one. I love them both!

About David's match, well. A good first set, full of confidence, very focused. He did what he had to do. Then a weird second set, I got to say that Chardy played good, he challenged David and went for every point. Still, Nalby should have closed the match when he was serving at 5-4, but nope, that's David and of course he got broke. He eventually got his head together again, and managed to win. ( I could finally take a deep breath. ) He was glad in the end, but complaining about the wind. It was very annoying today, it was even irritating me and I was not the one who had a match to play. Oh and he was in blue today. The orange will be back tomorow, maybe.

Tomorow will be a very weird day for me, I want David to win ( OF COURSE! ), but I don't want Fred to lose. :awww: That is not possible, I know.

So Vamos David!! And Fred, I'm proud of what you've done so far.

@Kyla : I don't have any pic of Frederico, sorry. But if you search at Getty under the Estoril Open name, I'm sure you'll find something. Btw, he wears Lacoste. :)

 He was on a roll today!
Fred didn't bothered him that much, that is a fact, but he played very good.

Okay, I haven't seen him before the match ( I had to go to the Agency, damn work. ), so I just arrived there when he was already in the locker room. I saw Diego though, he told me he was fine, not nervous at all, ready to do what the had to do. I just told him to be ready for a Roland Garros atmosphere!
Which end up never happening, cause the crowd soon realised that Frederico had nothing on David.
It never crossed my mind, not even for a second that he could lose today. So this was actually the first match of his that I wasn't nervous. I was a bit anxious for Fred though. ( :secret: I didn't want David to bagel the him )

So when I saw Gil's coach, and he said he was very nervous, I knew that there's no way in this world David could lose today.

There's not much to say about the match, the result says it all. :) I'm very proud of Fred though, he tried. And left with his chin up.

I haven't stayed long after the match was over ( work, again :( ), but I had time to congratulate him. And he told me one thing : Remember what I told you when I arrived here? Don't forget that. ( No te olvides de eso, or something like that. )

Well, he told me he was here to win. And I expect nothing less from him now.

I can't wait for tomorow's semi. I saw a very confident David today, and that is a good sign.

Vamos David!!!

I take it you you play part in organizing the tournament.

Some players go for a run, some players hit the showers, some players get a massage, and they also spend some time talking to the press. It's not like as soon as the match is over, they vanish from the place. And we don't use limos here in Estoril, it's more like vans who pick the players and take them to the hotel. He had limosines at the 2000 Masters, though.

It's not inside chats, everyone can talk to a player after his practise for instance. Most of them are very kind, and stop to have a word with people.

I do have a free pass, but I don't work in the organization. Never did.

WOHA! I've just been to the Estoril official website and found this article:

>>>Nalbandian and Moya Continue Love Affair
Returning to Estoril for the first time since capturing the title four years ago, top seed David Nalbandian cruised into the semifinals Friday with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Frederico Gil.

Nalbandian needed 77 minutes to dispatch Gil, ranked No. 253 in the INDESIT Rankings.

The result means Joao Cunha-Silva remains the only Portuguese player to reach the semifinals of an ATP tournament. Cunha-Silva reached the Tel Aviv last four in 1992.

Nalbandian, the reigning Tennis Masters Cup champion, will next meet Spain’s Albert Portas on Saturday.

Portas, semifinalist in 2001, knocked out American Justin Gimelstob 6-4, 6-3.

Gimelstob was appearing in his first clay-court quarterfinal since Coral Springs, Florida, in 1998.

In the bottom half of the men’s draw, Carlos Moya continued his love affair with the Estoril Open, advancing to semifinals for the fifth time in seven visits.

The sixth-seeded wild card, champion at the Estadio Nacional in 2000, edged out fellow Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 7-6(4), 6-4 on Court Central.

The former World No. 1, currently ranked No. 39 in the INDESIT ATP Rankings, won 31 of 40 points on first serve matching Garcia-Lopez in the ace count with three.

Moya converted three of eight break points in the one hour and 45 minute encounter, for his 20th win out of 25 matches at the Estadio Nacional.

The Spaniard will now meet No. 2 seed Nikolay Davydenko, the 2003 champion, a 6-4, 6-4 winner over Gilles Muller of Luxembourg.<<<

Bit misleading that headline ;)

But I knew there was something going on ever since I've seen this pic:

While I was looking for the pic above, the first page I looked at in David's pic gallery was the one with the Estoril 2002 trophy pix - I think that's a good omen!

But it looks like there will be no repetition of that pic above tomorrow :( Carlos is down two breaks in the third :bigcry:

He made me fear, and doubt (a lot! ) when he got broke in the first game. So I was very nervous throughout the first set, specially because he had a VERY slow start, but after the 7-5, I relaxed. And in the second, I knew he would make it, he played much better then Alberto. He even served good okay, decently that is.

I think he is very confident in his game, I haven't seen David like this for a while now. It's good, cause even if he can't win tomorow, this David that I saw playing the whole week was full of confidence. Is a guy with ambition. And sometimes I doubted if David had all that, now I'm sure he does, he is just a bit lazy now and then.

Like Kyla, I was rooting for a Nalbandian/Moya final, sadly it won't happen. I don't know what will happen tomorow, anything can happen with David, and Nikolay is a dangerous guy, who is also in search of a good result on clay. I saw a lot of people 'putting their money' on Kolya today, but we'll see what happens.
I hope David can make it though. :) It's about time that he wins another title, huh?

Vamos David!!! Do it tomorow.

Congratulations to Nalbo on winning the title. :yeah:
Yeah he had a comfortable draw for the most part, but to beat a fellow top-10 player in Davydenko in straight sets in the final is great.
All the best over the coming weeks Nalbo.

"What I highlight the most is the conviction I played the match from the first point to the last one" "He started risking a lot at the end, but when we were 5-4 I started playing in a great level. The most important thing in a final is to play with conviction and willingness, that helps a lot"

"Fue un torneo muy positivo, y estoy contento de haber vuelto después de la victoria del 2002. Fue una gran semana"
"It was a very positive tournament, and I am happy to be back after 2002's victory. It was a great week."

"Estoy anotado en todas las semanas", dijo. Pero aclaró: "Vamos a ver como termino Roma, pero cuanto más juegue sobre tierra, mejor voy a llegar a Roland Garros. Es la superficie que más me cuesta adaptarme y puede ser un gran torneo".
"My name is on in every entry list to play in the next few weeks" "We'll see how I finish Rome, but the more I play on clay, the better I will get to Roland Garros. It's the surfaces which costs me the most problems to adapt and it could be a great tournament"

"Every time I lost in a Grand Slam I did it in the final rounds and with great players, not with unknown people. I lost it to players which won the tournament or were finalists. I'm always there and I play well in all surfaces. Not being a especialist in any surface, I play well everywhere and compete against the best in each surface"

OMG! What a GREAT day! I am SO happy.

He did not have a lot of oposition during this week, easy draw, yeah I agree with that. But he could still have messed up, we all know how he is. So I'm very proud of what he did he did the whole week. Focused all the time, he had the title in mind, and completly went for it. I hope 'this David' is here to stay, but we'll see.

Well, the match, he played very good. He knew how to take advantage on Nikolay's injury, and he did that very well. The only bad thing ( if there's any bad thing to point out ) was when he had to serve for the match, and got broke. But all the props to Davydenko here, who made him go after that title, and not so easily as we were all thinking at that point.

I don't know if any of you have seen the match, but he was very happy in the end. After the speech, and the trophy ceremony, Diego came down to the court to open the Champagne bottle with him. And man, that was an hell of shower he got there! They made the whole crowd laugh, a lot. There were many Argentines in the stands, and he thanked them. Wasn't a very big speech, he only said he was happy, and thanked Diego his Fisio ( like he said  ) his family and his novia. Was pretty much all.

I had so much I wanted to say but it's SO late here, I had a party and had a few drinks so I can't really remind anything right now. Sorry.

Oh sure, I don't know if this is important or if it even matters but hey, Jime you can delete this if you want. There's this girl, who arrived after Monday. She was with him all the time. They barely spoke ( that is a fact ), she mainly spoke to Diego. And was not sitting with Diego on his quarters match. Okay that girl, is not Victoria. ;)

Anyway I'm very glad I was there to see him the whole week. He is a GREAT guy, and deserves all the success he has. ( I'm very sure now  Okay I was before. )

That's all from Estoril. Damn I already miss it. :( Yeah, there's more next year.

I'm off to bed. But....Vamos David in Rome!!!
