Serguei is a player most of you probably have never heard of before. I first found out about him from another poster
named Juanqui Lover. Juanqui Lover first became aware of Serguei in Davis Cup. Serguei is from Belarus. His date of birth is 09/21/87. His birthplace and current residence is
Minsk. He plays tennis right handed. Since at this time he is a very low ranked player there is not much information on him at the ATP Site. I hope more will be added and if so I will post what I find here.

I am so glad you made this thread Mae. Yeah, Serguei is a little hottie who has the cutest smile and not a bad game either. He seemed to acknowledge his fans when he lost which makes me think he'd be a really nice person. I'll post some pics too. Hopefully he'll make his rise to playing regular ATP tournaments soon. Belarus needs some more good tennis players

Serquei is now Ranked #1255 as of 04/24/06. However, his highest ranking was #1244 back on 03/06/06. He has played for Belarus twice in the Davis Cup, but has been defeated both times. He has also played a U.S.A. F1 and an Israel F1. Obviously, he has yet to win a Title  But obvious also is the fact that he is just getting started. The ATP site doesn't even have a date on when he turned Pro

It's probably noteworthy to say that Serguei really took it up to Wayne Arthurs, i think the score was 7-6 6-3. Serguei knows how to put pressure on his opponents, so he should do well in the near future

I checked that score where Serguei lost to Arthurs it was 6-7(6) and 2-6 according to the ATP Site. Since the ATP Site doesn't have much information about Serguei I'm going to try to see if I can't find out some more about him
in other places. I don't know if I can or not, but it is always worth a try ;)

I can hardly believe it, but I did find additional information on Serguei.
His weight is 61g and his height is 1.74m. He has a double-handed backhand. He was playing in the Juniors last year (2005). His favorite surface is clay. His Coach is Fury Shcherbakov. Serguei started playing tennis when he was 9 years old. He likes music and shopping.

Well as of 6/19/06 the ATP Site shows Serguei's ranking is now #1273. So he has lost ground  However, in the part of the ATP Site where it shows the rankings it only shows that Serguei has played in 2 Tournaments  We know he has been doing more playing than that, but I guess it all doesn't count for the ATP Rankings

16681
06-21-2006, 07:20 AM
He's the lightest person in the world!
Well being from the U.S. I only deal in pounds for weight and inches and feet for height. So I copied the information as it was listed so if there was a mistake it was done by whoever listed the information. And with such limited information available anyway I'm not surprised if some of it is not right. Sorry.

Ferrero Forever

you're doing an awesome job Mae. At least he's playing some tournaments, thats good. And to my understanding, if you win a futures tournament, then you get 1 ATP point. I think, i'm not sure.

Ok, we've got some more results. From what I can gather, he's playing in the Iran F1-Tehran, he's the number 1 seed in the tournament.

Qualifying Round
(1)Serguei Tarasevitch (BLR) d. Silvio Dadic (CRO) 6-2 3-2 ret. (YAY)
First Round
(1)Serguei Tarasevitch (BLR) d. Jamshid Arvand (IRI) 6-0 6-0 (YAY DOUBLE BAGEL YAY)

and then theres some other 1st round result (I really don't get the futures events)
First Round
Serguei TARASEVITCH (BLR) defeated Omid SOURI (IRI) 64 62 (YAY, straight sets victory, YAY)

So he's doing well, GO SERGUEI

Well, I found some new info about Sergei. It's from Belarussian sport newspaper called "Pressball". They've published an interview with Alexandr Dolgopolov, one of the famous Soviet players. Now he's a coach. Ten years ago he worked with Max and now he's coaching Sergei!

Alexandr said it's a pleasure for him to work with Sergei. There is the only difficulty. According to Alexandr, Sergei has a beuatiful family. (btw his parents are both doctors). And he felt homesick when he's away on tournaments or on the road.
Alexandr also added he'd do all his best to help Sergei to improve on. Hope it'll be so! ;)

Good luck to him!

and I've just read an interview with Volchkov, another player of Belarus Davis cup team. He played this year only in 4 tournaments, his results are awfull, and he's thinking about retire. So the team really needs more players such as Serguei, Max cannot play alone all DC matches :help:

At least it's going back up, but when his ranking has dropped 81 spots, to go up 6 isn't making up for it that much. But he'll get back into the top 1000, he's just gotta come up with a really special result. Just one will do.

Still moving up even if it is only 6 places is better than moving down anymore. And while I must say I wish only good things for Sergeri I have to say this thread is a great place to hide out in :) There are even less posters here than in GGL's Forum

why are you so suprised? Serguei isn't the player from top 100.. for many people he's just the one of hundreds youngsters who are playing futures and satellites
there are three of us (i mean you Mae, Juanqui Lover and me myself) who saw his match against Wayne Arthurs.. saw or followed the livescores, or read and heard about it, it doesn't matter, we knew how great Serguei fought and only the experience of Arthurs helped him to win. We knew - but many people don't follow the dead rubbers of DC matches. I'm even not sure that a lot of Belarussian could remembered a name of guy who was so close to bring the point at that tie against Aussies.

Serguei needs to win more futures and improve the ranking, then there'd be more posters in this thread. :wavey:

I'm pretty sure it is expensive that why Serguei doesn't take part in a lot of tournaments  and most of them are not far from Belarus so he hasn't spent much money on travelling
