TennisHack
08-07-2002, 03:32 PM
Davide retired with a toe injury. At 30-40 set point Potato. He had two aces in that last game, but then tanked. Not as funny as the Ginepri match. :(

TennisHack
08-07-2002, 03:34 PM
All right, Jarkko!! :D

Martin
08-07-2002, 03:51 PM
I don't like Greg playing against these sort of baseliners that get so many balls back and can flash winners past him, like Malisse, Robredo.

Greg holds for 3-2 though

TennisHack
08-07-2002, 03:51 PM
Lee 4-1

KarstenBraasch#1
08-07-2002, 05:42 PM
Sorry Eggy. I know you hate Andy (and I dislike him as well) but my opinion about Kiefer is irrevocable. When he drops out of top 100 I will be satisfied. :p

TheBoiledEgg
08-07-2002, 05:42 PM
Kiefer is a headcase

TennisHack
08-07-2002, 05:44 PM

TennisHack

Carlos 6-2 :D
vamos Carlos !

KarstenBraasch#1
08-07-2002, 05:49 PM
But Kiefer is also arrogant, that's why I dislike him. Remember when he once lost to Youzny 3-6 0-6 ? During the match his main worry was complaining to the umpire that the 's' of Nicolas is silent.

TheBoiledEgg
08-07-2002, 05:49 PM
Gambill better win

KarstenBraasch#1
08-07-2002, 05:50 PM
:( @ Gonzales.
:( @ Andy. Long rallies are no surprise. All Kiefer is doing is keeping ball in play.

TennisHack

cos Carlos Moya owns Gambill and he can't beat Rainer

TennisHack
08-07-2002, 05:53 PM

GoDom, the 's' is silent? So it's like "Nicolay"?

Match Complete: A. Roddick d. N. Kiefer 6-4, 6-3

Kiefer double faults to give Roddick match point (he's had 7 doubles in the whole match); Roddick ducks the volley  Kiefer knocks the ball at deuce right at Roddick, nearly hitting him in a very bad place ;) and misses!! Kiefer misses the ball long on match point

Gonzo 7-6 2-0 :)

TennisHack
08-07-2002, 06:17 PM
Except for the one lapse of concentration at the beginning of the second set, Roddick played solidly. There were some long rallies, some of which Kiefer won by a Roddick unforced error. Kiefer showed signs of life in the first set but went downhill after that; the second break in the second set broke him. He was kicking his chair on the changeover. I suppose he had his revenge on that deuce point in his last serve game (though he missed the baseline when Roddick jumped out of the way).

TennisHack
08-07-2002, 06:19 PM

Well, I mean what a time for Coria to turn his game on! If Agassi was in any trouble here, I guess I wouldn't be in such a hurry.

But, ESPN is supposed to have 3 hours tonight, so hopefully we'll get to see quite a bit of that.

Juan Carlos is wearing black :D but not the outfit I said i didn't like--solid black.

***ALSO POSTED IN JUAN CARLOS'S FORUM (WITH MORE DETAILS ;) )***

Post-Match Interview with Juan Carlos Ferrero

Ferrero d. Blake 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 (tons of breaks)

Cliff: Juan Carlos, first of all, well-played tonight. Tell us about the difference of getting off of the clay courts in Europe and coming up now, heading toward the US Open on the hard courts. Tell us about the adjustment and how you're doing.

JCF: I'm doing good here in hard court right now, but you know it's very difficult to come to the clay court seasons. We play a lot of tournaments in clay court and we came to the United States, you know it's different hours and everything is different. But, you know, we try to play my best and today I think I play a great match.

Patrick: Juan Carlos, talk about Roland Garros, where you played such an incredible match with Agassi in the quarters, a lot of us thought you would win the final (JCF , LOL!). How did you feel losing that final and knowing that you've been one of the best clay courters the last couple years?

JCF (hazy smile): I feel a little bit sad, you know, after the final, but you know, I think I played a great two weeks, I played the first time again[st] Agassi and I think I played very good match. You know, the second day I fell down and I turned my ankle, and I thought was impossible to-- to still in the tournament, finally, I could, I still in the tournament, and I think I play very very good tennis.

Cliff: Juan Carlos, asess James Blake's game for us, please. Asess his game.

JCF: I think he has a very good forehand, and also very good movement in the court, and, you know, I think he plays very good on all surface: grass court, hard court, and also in clay court, because I think that he beat quarterfinals in Rome, and I think it's very good result for him. And I think he's right now in United States and he tries to play his best level here today, but I think I play better than him today.

Patrick: Now tomorrow, Juan Carlos, you play another young American, a different style, but Taylor Dent. Do you know about him, and what kind of match will that be?

JCF: I saw the first time against Hewitt in Wimbledon, and I think he went to five sets against Hewitt, so I thi
nk he play it very good. And I think he has a very good first serve, very strong, very fast, and he goes to the net all the time. So, you know, it's one more match where I try to play good tennis again.

Cliff: Help me with this, Juan Carlos--"chavalito"? Patrick?

JCF (smiles): Ah, chavalito is--

Cliff: Mosquito?

JCF: Yeah, mosquito.

Cliff: Well done, thank you.

JCF: Okay.

Patrick: Yes, well done, Juan Carlos.

JCF: Thank you, thank you.
