Yes, but "the Farmer" was suffering with his shoulder injury and shouldn't have even played that match really. Considering that he beat Chela on clay in a tight three-setter the same year, I'm feeling fairly confident about his chances.

I think Chela has more chances of winning, he likes the surface and he plays good againt serve and volleyers and big servers. (I know Tim is not a big server, but almost always a serve and volleyer has a great serve).

But, I think Henman reached the final of some tournaments on rebound ace, it seems he likes the surface, we will see.

duck man up 5-3  break him!!

Sjengster
01-06-2004, 04:01 PM
That's the thing about Chela, I never really know what to expect from him... he can be in unbelievable form like he was during the first half of 2002, demolishing strong opposition, or he can lose 0 and 3 to a French wildcard in 43 minutes like he did in Paris at the end of last year. Either way, if Henman is serious about getting back to the Top 10 this is the kind of player he has to beat.

Just venturing an opinion, Howlman, just venturing an opinion. You're right, that was by no means the worst of your posts, but I remember ones at the end of last year which included some decidedly pointless insults.

Sjengster
01-06-2004, 04:34 PM
While we're all trying to pass the time, does anyone here reckon that the scoreboards have been deliberately frozen as part of a conspiracy to deny both Roddick and Ljubicic fans from seeing their heroes' progress? An interesting talking point, methinks, considering that the two players have had less than harmonious relations recently.

Howlman

It would be a fun match if they meet.

Sjengster
01-06-2004, 04:45 PM
It might be, although not one for the rallying connoisseur, I suspect. Roddick obviously has a big chance, but Ljubicic has got to get past the likes of Grosjean and Henman and I'm not sure he's up to the task. Personally, I'm still holding out for that Koubek-Henman final, but it may be a remote dream...

TennisLurker

probably.

Sjengster
01-06-2004, 04:47 PM
Correction: definitely. I just checked the Roddick forum and Naldo announced that he won 3 and 4. No surprise there, Davydenko isn't a good enough defender to really trouble him.

Yee-hah, Koubek won! But what the heck happened to Philippoussis after the first set? True, this will probably make Roddick's draw much easier, but I'm glad that Mr. Fashionista at least has a shot at defending some of his points from last year.

Hmm, reading back I gather that he still has an injury problem too... but hell, Koubek served for the match three times and almost choked it away losing 4 games in a row from 5-0!

easier draw...yeah right

You sneer, heya? I should have thought it a fairly obvious statement given that two of the three seeds in Roddick's half have now fallen by the wayside. Of course there are others who can cause him trouble, but nobody in that half - possibly Calleri if he hits form, but that's about it. Why have so little faith in your favourite player?

So, history repeats itself once again... although on this evidence Lee isn't likely to repeat at Sydney next week, that's for sure. But doesn't Voltchkov go on to play Koubek now? That's what happened last year, and he got crushed 1 and 1.

Voltchkov, with a retirement. It says so on the post directly above your first one, if you don't mind me pointing that out.
