Maeike

Btw Joris, there's an error in your sig, unhörbar has umlaut and i think with "tod" you mean the noun and not the adjective, so thats supposed to be with a capital.

You're welcome

The Crow
08-07-2002, 12:06 PM
You don't think I'm gonna bother with the umlauts do you :p And I hate that "all nouns have to have capitals" thingie

I mean, thnak you

Maeike
08-07-2002, 12:09 PM
Well the sheer sight of such a word without umlaut burned a hole in my retina, so i had to at least mention it, right :D

The Crow
08-07-2002, 12:10 PM
Of course you had to  :p

The Crow
08-07-2002, 12:10 PM
Btw how do you put an umlaut on a letter anyway??

Maeike
08-07-2002, 12:14 PM
You should have the ¨ thingy on your keyboard. Its next to the p on mine :)

Err, ok I don't have it Maeike

Maeike
08-07-2002, 01:41 PM
huh what kind of a stupid keyboard do you have??

you cant even type things like "knieën" in flemish and stuff??

The Crow
08-07-2002, 01:46 PM
Err well you have tricks to that in most programs (word and stuff) but I don't know how to do that here

And don't you insult my keyboard :fiery:  It's a delicate little thing you know

Maeike
08-07-2002, 01:50 PM
But you got to have those two little pointy thingies somewhere. Theyre usually on top of a button with two other thingies under it. And then you press the button+shift and there you have it: ¨voila :D

The Crow
08-07-2002, 02:04 PM

Maeike

Josh

The Crow
08-07-2002, 02:45 PM

Josh

Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. Amen.

Maeike
08-07-2002, 03:04 PM

Sleeping pills can give you side effects so you are better off without them.

To sleep better just relax and switch off, if you can.

If you are having trouble switching off at bedtime some light exercise (for example, push ups or sit ups) at bedtime often helps you to relax, unwind and switch off and that often improves your sleep. Strenuous exercise at bedtime is likely to ruin your sleep.

Common sleep aids include Chamomile tea, 5-HTP, Melatonin and Valerian Root.

Sleep enhancing foods are supposed to include warm milk, turkey, cherries, oatmeal, bananas, wine ecc...

I have problems with sleep, too. I find certain good habits help, but you have to work so hard at it. Just a little slip -- a family celebration that goes late or some other factor -- and it screws you up and you're back to your old patterns. :(

I've never taken pills because I'm scared I'll become hooked and won't ever be able to sleep without them. :scared: You probably aren't doing too badly with that if you had 18 nights in a row without them.

Good luck

That's exactly what happens... during the day when I'm at work  can't sleep then so I have to fight it off. Then somehow the later it gets in the evening, the less tired/more wide awake I feel. Imagine this pattern going on day after day. A total of 10-11 hours of sleep spread out over three days. By the fourth night you think "for sure it'll catch up with me and I'll be dead tired tonight." But you're not, at least not until 3 or 4 am. Then there's again only maybe 4 hours until the alarm clock rings the next morning. Eventually the weekend comes and you sleep in till 2 pm. But that only reinforces that you'll be up late that night. It's a vicious cycle.

I live in an apartment.
I don't know if noise bothers me; I've always lived in the city, I should be used to it. And I had insomnia issues even as a child, before I had to work or had stress. It must be some kind of defective gene.

You just described my every day, weekends included :p I usually come back from work around 4.30-5 and feel pretty sleepy between 5-7.30 If I fight it off, I can easily stay up until 2 or 3am. Though if I have 2 hours of sleep, I'll stay till 2 or 3 anyway  I can't imagine going to bed till morning at 7.30 though, not since I'm not 6 yrs old anymore :p

Usually I don't sleep so well, can never get to sleep until around 3/4am... It isn't such a big deal on the days I'm not in Uni because I can just sleep in but it fucks me up when I am in Uni. However, I was determined to sleep relatively early last night so I put laptopand stufd aside, flicked the radio on and was out of it by before midnight. Woke up at around 7am so a good 7 hours of sleep for me for once.

I can't sleep, too.Instead I get naps during the day and mostly during night, because everyone is sleeping then and I don't have a lot to do.For the last 24 hrs I've had maybe 3-3.5 hrs of sleep in 4 napping series.I usually feel great with this unless I'm into my period when hell breaks loose and I actually have to take 3-4 days off from everything.
My advice to everyone is: Don't ever try to force yourself to go to bed early.Stop buying into the 8hrs of sleep myth.Everyone has his/hers own sleep needs and patterns, you need to discover them and follow them.
But if one is interested in sleeping better and more-buy some Melatonin,it's not expensive and will make you feel actually refreshed after a sleep.

I occasionally get 8 hours of sleep. A week, that is. I recommend the following drug cocktail: Mogadon, Imovane/Zopiclon and alcohol.
