Verdasco's Wayward Win Tuesday

Verdasco to defeat Grosjean @2.26 before commission / 2.17 Pinnacle

Not ignoring Verdasco's injury in the semi vs Simon in Valencia but he did fight on and kept the second set tb pretty tight (5) against an in-form player. I have no detailed updated info on his injury but the fact that he did continue effectively (all is relative) against Simon and the assumption that he would hardly jeopardize his Roland Garros show are sufficient indications to me that he is relatively okay. H2H 0-0, I will take an in-form clay specialist against Seb opening the clay season at these odds at any time; reports from Spain had Verdasco playing very well in Valencia despite handing too many points to Starace.

The win may be wayward as it is clay...but I think it will be a win.

Deivid, am I wrong here? I've been told he grew up on the clay courts of Valencia and he's solid on clay. Doesn't that legitimize the expression "clay court specialist", not ignoring that he can do well on Hard ?

Nope, his tennis club is Valencia Club de Tenis but he didn´t grow up in Valencia´s clay, he played in Madrid almost all the time, even went to Barcelona a couple of years ago. He plays well on clay and has had the better results there, but he should do better on hard courts as the faster it gets the bigger harm his strokes can do. Pepo Clavet, his current coach, has labelled him as a "hard court player with clay court "apoyos" " -don´t know the English word, but he refers to the way he moves and he places his feet and body to hit some of his shots-. I agree with that definition and only his brain and his lazy footwork are preventing him from doing much better on faster conditions than he has currently done.
