Let's go kick some b*** David!

I really hope he'll be fit for this one. On his website it says he still hasn't been able to train. Hopefully the Nacho can get him on track before the start of the tourney. It could be an interesting match against Massu.

Hello everybody :wavey:
I just came back from Monaco and i have tons of things to say to you
I saw David a lot for 4 days and i took tons of pics of his trainings and of the first match.
I will upload all my pics soon cause after on saturday i have my plane for Barcelona... If you have the opportunity to go to this tournament, don't hesitate cause it's really beautiful! You'll see in my pics ;)

Yesterday, i only saw 4 games of David's match cause my Gaston was playing during David's match. I made apologizes to Javier because i felt ashamed to leave the court for going to Gaston's match, and i have to say "bye bye" to Javier as we taught a lot together for this last 4 days. David and Javier were absolutely lovely with me in Monaco, i can't wait to see them again in Barcelona!
I offered my chocolates to David on sunday (i think), and he was more than happy! He thank me at least 4 times! maybe he's not used to receive present  ? When i told him my name, and that i come from Lyon, he immediately reply: "oh yes you wrote me a mail, right? i had answered you last week" i was  Exact David! Then we taught a bit an i asked him if i deserve a pic and he said yes with a laugh and he put my camera on Javier's hands  i will upload the pic during the day, as usually i'm ugly on it but i don't care ;)

I have some videos too, i will try to hurry to upload all that!

:yippee: Sounds like you had a great time Eléa! But you are far from ugly, stop talking such nonsense.

Anyhow, I think you registered at David's forum, right? There's an English speaking section now. :)

I watched most of the match this morning, but it was very early for me so I took a bit of a snooze during the third set after David was up a break.

Can he defeat Federer in 3 sets in the QFs? I hope so.

Anyway, David will be Rogi's first real clay test -- let's see how they both do!

Yes - he looked very nervous  And after he lost his first service game he was muttering a lot and got down on himself. In the second set he pulled himself together and played much better though :) - but by that time it was too late to come back against a guy like Roger. It was no disgrace to lose to Roger though - almost everyone does!!!!

Saw the whole match, apart from the first 4 games when I was still walking my doggy. He did look nervous but less so than in Miami IMO. Absolutely no disgrace losing to Rog like he did, because Roger played brilliant and flawless especially in the first set. I just feel really bad for David tho, because he was trying so hard, giving every point his all. There was just nothing more he could have done. I wonder what had happend if David would have won that one extra game in the second set. For a minute there it looked like it might become a real tight match.

It was so awful an experience... but when Canas beat all the other guys, incl. Safin and Pandy, to win the title, I felt a little better. Obviously the guy was playing in a zone, as he has been the last couple of mths or so. We'll see if Roma and RG give Willy a WC. Isn't he playing other clay tourneys?

Anyway, I don't mind Rogi being beaten on clay... by certain players. Acc. to most people, Rogi can't win on clay anyway. When he loses on clay I don't know why people are so shocked.

ALLEZ, DAVID! I hope you're better! [so many pts to defend... like Rogi and another of my faves, Fena]

The RG cut-off date is tomorrow, Willy will make the cut and be seeded.

I haven't looked at the Rome entry list yet.

My first live match was Sampras vs Canas 1st Round Cincy 2002, Pete won in 3 tight sets.

David is defending QF points, right? :scared: And I think SF in Rome and QF in Hamburg.

He's defending 1/8 in MC & Hamburg but he got dumped out in the 1st round last year in Rome :D

As for my 1st live match it was in Barcelona 1995 but not a clue who it was :(

Nice opening match for David - I feel totally useless from being up so early, but it's worth it. And the commentators spoke pretty highly of him through out the match - on how he never gives up on a point and that really only Nadal and Federer would be a big challenge for him to beat on clay, and not too many other players on other surfaces.

This is from Yahoo

MONTE CARLO (Reuters) - Spaniard David Ferrer strolled into the second round of the Monte Carlo Masters with a 6-3 6-1 victory over Frenchman Gilles Simon on Tuesday.

The 12th seed had too much claycourt experience for Simon and wrapped up the easy win on his first match point in 68 minutes.

The world number 16 now meets another Frenchman, Julien Benneteau, who reached the French Open quarter-finals last year.

Ferrer, who won the Auckland Open in January, took the opening set in 41 minutes after converting two of his seven break opportunities.

The second set was a relative walkover for the Spaniard, who charged into a 4-0 advantage and was never troubled thereafter.

"I felt really good from the start, which explains why the win was wrapped up quickly," Ferrer said in a courtside interview.

David will definitely play better this year than last, esp after having won Stuttgart last year -- he's generally progressing, which is great!

I love the QFs in thetop half -- all great players and 3 out of 4 excellent on clay, right :) ; bottom half, no comment!

Obviously i have pics for you, i quickly have a look at them and they look good ;) i will upload everything this week-end. Yes i'm lucky cause i could talk to David and Javier (and my Gaston :inlove: ) They were absolutely lovely! Of course Federer steps up his game and plays like the "I'm #1 in the world" Federer when it comes to this match. How frustrating was that??? At least David was able to defend his points....and he had a great win against Djokovic yesterday.

That was completely unnecessary. Can somebody please talk to that boy and tell him is one of the best claycourters out there and he can challenge Roger a little more. David, especially in that second set, just looked like thought he was the number 2000 in the world playing against the great big number one. It's such a head-game but he should be more confident and just play.:awww:

Also I'm angry about that lack of service action. How about getting a first serve in David? You can't just push a second serve in at that level.:(

Okay rant over. I know Roger is in his head and he probably really tried but I just didn't see that usual fighting spirit of our boy.

Me too and he can. But he just doesn't believe in himself versus Roger at all. You can see it from the moment he steps onto the court. It's so sad:sad: He's a much better player than the David Ferrer that played that second set. Granted Roger really lifted his level in the second but David just stood there and watched the pretty yellow ball move by. He's a fighter that's his strength. So fight!

I haven't seen this match yet but there were a lot of breaks in the 1st set -- either David was pushing Rogi around or Rogi was nervous or very cautious. So what happened in the 2nd set? Is David hurting?? Maybe it's his back but I hope not. I didn't want him to be bagelled in the 2nd -- I wanted him to push Rogi more. I expected him to do better on the clay in MC than he did in Basel on indoor carpet v. Rogi [where he did so well!].

We'll see if Rogi can make the F.

Ferrer flattens Safin

Spaniard David Ferrer wasted little time to reach the Monte Carlo Masters third round with a 6-2 6-3 win over Russian Marat Safin.

The Masters Cup finalist, seeded fifth, next meets either Ecuador's Nicolas Lapentti or Serb Janko Tipsarevic and faces a possible quarter-final encounter with Rafael Nadal, who play Croatian Mario Ancic later on Wednesday.

Ferrer broke twice in the first set and recovered from a break down in the second before wrapping it up in 79 minutes when former world number one Safin sent a forehand long.

I've started to feel a little love for Lola. She was everywhere in Miami. Every corner I turned, there she was. Saw her training a lot, one day I pretty much saw her on every practice court. I thought I had discovered a love connection between Lola and Gasquet when she showed up to watch Richie practice but turned out he was just waiting for PHM to show up, to train with.

Anyway, still want David to win.:p If only so he can play my new fav headcase Eduardo.:)

I have a lot of love for Lola ever since he lent on my leg in Nottingham a few years back :p and you know I have a weaknes for pretty little things :inlove:

I'm still not sure if he's really that pretty, but I have decided that he's entertaining.

They lost 10-8 in the champions tie-break

Typical, why doesn't he play doubles with Tommy? Not that I have heaps of love for candy-man but I surely prefer him to Nico.:bolt:

Of course I want to see David play Wednesday, but I'm kinda excited about the two old men Safin and Lapentti.

Maybe he should buy a house there and you could go visit loads.:)

I watched Nico practice with Gato in Miami and though I'm not a big fan of Gaudio's looks it was one of the more visually appealing practices I watched. Another "interesting" practice was Safin-Andreev.:)

I mean, Pico is a nice guy, but normally I prefer him not to play his best tennis just against Tommy

But I am fine when Tommy decides to play his best tennis again next week when Ali can take tons of pictures of him
