so this is what i gathered so far...
roma is playing palermo today for the cup match and they are also playing each other in the seria A this weekend on saturday. roma needs a win in seria A to get into the CL spot in italy, so many people think this might be a fixed game to let palermo take the cup match and roma inturn wins the weekend match in seria A. anyways i am thinking of taking a small bet on Palermo X2 (draw or win) @ 1.80

Good luck

this is the head to head between these 2 teams...

H2H:

Italian Cup 2005/2006
Palermo Roma AS 2:1 22.03.2006
Italian Serie A 2005/2006
Roma AS Palermo 1:2 11.12.2005
Italian Serie A 2004/2005
Palermo Roma AS 2:0 27.02.2005
Roma AS Palermo 1:1 24.10.2004
Italian Cup 2003/2004
Palermo Roma AS 1:2 17.12.2003
Roma AS Palermo 1:0 04.12.2003

looks like this is the second leg of the semi finals with palermo leading 2 - 1 from the first leg.. so a draw should get them to the finals. so i guess it is worth risking a small amount :)

Nothing confirmed, but your logic sounds reasonable, it is Italian soccer after all

Here's the fixture run-in for both teams in Serie A with Roma currently 1 point ahead:

Week 34
Palermo - Roma
Treviso - Fiorentina

Week 35
Fiorentina - Empoli
Roma - Sampdoria

Week 36
Chievo - Roma
Palermo - Fiorentina

Week 37
Fiorentina - Reggina
Roma - Treviso

Week 38
Chievo - Fiorentina
Milan - Roma

The argument you propose is very feasible and if Palermo get the result tonight it is definitely worth looking at the away win for Roma this Saturday taking it as early as possible before the prices are adjusted with potential 'fixes' a prospect. Roma have the tougher fixtures so will need some help I think to secure 4th place.

-----------------------

As for today's bets I'm still undecided on Arsenal and Bayern. Portsmouth will be tough opposition and Bayern is a cup match against a team who eliminated Werder Bremen in the last round. Bayern should win but I'm not a fan of those odds especially with extra-time available in such games. Still considering -1.5 but that looks just as risky.

One I've already taken:
Middlesbrough(-0.25AH) v Charlton @ 1.80 (Gamebookers): Big match for two English managers who want the national team job. McClaren is probably the better prospect here and will want to show those credentials. Also he has the better squad/team and experience in Cup ties. Forget Middlesbrough's poor league results as he rests his players with so many high-priority cup ties. Their priorities are two-fold; FA Cup final appearance (need to get past Charlton here then West Ham in the semi-final) to ensure UEFA Cup qualification again for next season as the finalists; Liverpool or Chelsea will both have Champions League qualification. The UEFA cup which they are still involved in is also their next priority with the chance of appearing in the final and European glory which would be a massive achievement for a club like Middlesbrough (strangely, winning this cup will not mean Middlesbrough will gain entry again next season!). League games do not matter to McClaren with almost no relegation fears so expect plenty of rotation in those matches.

As for Charlton; they will be without Darren Bent and look very short of attaking ideas recently. Many 0-0 results as Curbishley admits he has gone back to basics concentrating on defence first.

Middlesbrough to qualify for semi-finals @ 1.67 (Bet365) is also another option but I prefer to take the handicap as I think Middlesbrough are more than capable of winning inside 90 minutes.

Good luck.

Was truly terrible from Adebayor but I'm not surprised. When you sign a poor French League striker you get what you deserve as Wenger has played him in so many matches already and got away with it. A sub-standard player for the level they are at - I won't be having this as a Wenger signing where he takes a little-known player and makes him into a star. Anyone who watched him at Monaco can see his weaknesses.

Bad luck with Arsenal mate. Bayern won handsomely in the end but with late goals to clear the handicap - so not too bothered at missing that one.

Middlesbrough (4-2) :worship:
Roma. Fix? Will this hurt them at the weekend? We shall see...

I'll try and up my rate of football picks on here - even if they are only picks with no explanation.

Keep on being lucky guys.

Hey mate which odds comparison site is that?

Looks like www.betexplorer.com. You can even compare combos there too and choose the bookmakers you want prices for. The markets are just 1X2 though.

Or you can use www.betbrain.net for a wide range of markets for every match you can think of.
