The nick Baghdatinho (as in Ronaldinho) was first mentioned in spanish press after his win over Nalby in Australia. So i thought
it was appropriate to use it at the start of the clay season.
Now whether he's got a chance to win Houston i think he does.
But we 'll have to wait and see!!!

How does Baggy fare on clay?? For me Tommy is still the favorite

Well..he just won his first round match v. Nobody, but took a tiebreak in 2nd set! He's prob. tired & jet lagged. Hopefully he settles down - or perhaps his first priority is getting a tax-deductible trip to visit his brother & some time to relax before Euro. clay court season begins for him.

Yes he looked tired. I hope he gets some rest and relax before Euro.
Bravo Marco for the win!

I do not understand why Marcos chose to play in Houston, not in Valencia. He knew that he will play in Bulgaria for Davis Cup, and immediately after that he will have to fly for USA. Then after the end of the tournament he has to come back in Europe for the first clay Masters Series Tournament.

His play on clay wasn't so good in Bulgaria, and i think that he will face troubles against more agrresive players. I think that in Houston he will not reach the final, or even 1/2 final.

Although, Good luck !!!

as it's clay I do not expect a very good result from him, go prove me wrong Baghdatinho :worship:

not a good start :(

Filipo, his brother lives in Houston.

He retired in his match v. Spadea. Anyone have the story on that. Pray it's not serious.

Lets hope this is not serious.
After the game Marcos said:

"I don't really know what it is yet. Maybe the nerve is squeezed. I just felt pain coming down through my leg. Maybe fatigue has something to do with it. Since Australia I've been playing all the time, working hard. I haven't wanted to stop."

Lets hope he will be ok after resting for a few days. It was wrong choosing to go to Houston (at my opinion).
