France v Russia

Russia currently lead the tie 2-0, hence it goes without saying this is a must win for the French, and looking at the respective teams that will take the court tonight, I fully expect the tie to be alive come the reverse singles. Clement/Llodra combination is solid, they play in many ATP tournaments as a pair and are up against Tursunov/Youhzny who can be thought of as a makeshift combination. Tarpishev has clearly come into this tie focusing on the 4 singles matches as he has effectively selected 4 singles players suited to the fast indoor conditions, so I don't think he will be too worried giving this one to the French.

Verdict: Not much value in a France win S/U, look into a French straight sets win for a bit of value.

USA v Chile

Grass, Clay, Hardcourt, Rebound Ace, surface doesn't matter, simply hard to go past the Bryan Brothers winning this one comfortably and giving the Yanks a 2-1 advantage. The Gonzalez/Massu combination will always put up a fight, they grow an extra leg when representing Chile as seen in the Olympics and the World Team Cup, but up against the number 1 pair away from home on a surface they are least confortable in, they will do well to win a set IMO.

Verdict: USA are the shortest price favourites of the 3 remaining doubles tie and rightly so, even a straight sets win does not present much value. Might be best to stick them in a parlay.

I think Gonzo and Massu will give a really good fight to the Bryans, so no bet for me.

Would only go for the French double...

Croatia? I'm pretty sure the bet could be void anyway as they could put any players in but I'd be surprised if Ljubo and Ancic play...Ljubo must be shattered after yesterday and Ancic is injured...that is what I gather anyway

France - should be a sure win. Gonzo is probably drained :tape:

GB - if only I shared your confidence in our team :haha: I think it should have been Aucks & Greg but as long as we win the doubles I don't really care :yeah:

Zim has had some poor results in DC doubles of late so maybe we stand a good chance

I think the Murray-Rusedski doubles partnership will work very well, like the Henman-Rusedski parternership. It will be very comfortable I reckon. 3-0 or 3-1, probably 3-0. Also, Murray being at home will be a huge an advantage and he'll really want to perform.

Can't see Greg beating Djokovic in the reverse and same with Parmar over Tipsarevic - ain't gonna happen. Serbia to win the tie. Best betting after the doubles though ;)

France have competent doubles players over the Russians.

You're right about Croatia though.

USA should win their doubles no problems.

I'm sorry, but if I'd been online at the time I would have contested that. Today's match proved the sorry truth really - Murray can't serve and he can't volley. I'm angry Bates put him in - he isn't a doubles player. Auckland was robbed - why include a doubles specialist (Brit #1 and almost top 100) if you don't use him? Ludicrous. Would also have been a leftie & rightie combo. Terrible decision by Bates and I feel that he was probably pressured to put Murray in to be honest.

S & M were favourites to win the tie from the start but I would rather Auckland lost the doubles than Murray. Not happy.

We can't win now - Murray now saying he might not be able to play the 5th rubber, not that we need it. Greg wouldn't be Djokovic at 100%...well done Serbia! :yeah:

Yeah Murray certainly was the weak link for me and made quite a few errors on easy chances. GB had a load of chances. Many, many break points which they didn't take. Should have been closer.

1.2 or so on Serbia to win is a bargain. No way Greg is gonna win unfortunately. And Murray would have problems with Tipsarevic anyway.
