Yes, and I think the data on the ITF site is wrong about his residence. His coach is Italian and he plays a lot of tournaments in Italy - maybe he lives there, which should make him a good player on clay.

Golubev is not bad this year - 2 challenger QFs (1 in Grenoble this week), 3 futures finals, several victories over top-300 players...
His best ranking was 380 in May, i think next week he'll be even higher :)
In Grenoble Andrey had 2 interesting victories - in qualifying round he def. Lars Uebel 1-6 7-6 7-6 and then in 1st round they played again (Uebel was LL) and Andrey won 0-6 6-4 6-4 :)

Golubev is now on a career-high ranking of 303. He moved up around 100 positions since the beginning of the season. It's not a lot if we compare it to other young prospects, but still it's a progress. He finished the season on a high note, reaching the final in the last 3 futures he played, and winning two of them.
Hope 2007 will be the year of his breakthrough at challenger level.

He lost 6-7(6) 7-6(7) 4-6 to H. Ruiz-Cadenas.
I think this week he will have highest ranking, maybe in top-250. Let's wait few hours :)

Short summary over his last victory at Astana:
http://www.andreygolubev.com/pagine/ita/archivio_news.lasso?id=89
In some sense, it's like he won on the home court. Andrey Golubev, of Russian origin but naturalized in Kazakhstan, now training and living in Bra under the tutelage of Massimo Puci at Match Ball Tennis Academy, was crowned the winner of the Astana Tennis Challenger in Kazakhstan. It's an important victory, not just because he won in the country he represents, but also because he has evened the score with fellow countryman Ilia Marchenko 2-0 (6-3, 6-3), the player who got the best of him at the recently-concluded Kremlin Cup.Next, the young player from Bra, Italy will face another Challenger in Bratislava, Slovakia. Victory on the international scene will not only raise Andrey's stature, but also that of Match Ball Bra and Tc Alba, whose colors Andrey proudly wears.

Australian Wild card for Andrey at season's first Grand Slam
No one could have hoped for a better start to the year for the “Kazahk from Bra”, Andrey Golubev. The talented tennis player, together with his fellow countryman Yaroslava Shvedova, defended the colors of Kazahkstan during the Hopman Cup in Perth Australia from 2 to 9 January. At this important tennis event, which included 8 of the strongest team formations in the world today, the two Kazahks acquitted themselves well, playing beautiful tennis and placing second behind Great Britain’s Andy Murray and Laura Robson. The battle lasted until the third set, while earlier Andrey and Yaroslava had shown their superiority over Russia and Germany. Andrey notched 4 victories (two in singles and two in doubles). Satisfied with his performance, Andrey left for Melbourne to prepare for the qualifying of the Australian Open, which runs from 18 to 31 January.
It was in Melbourne that Andrey got a pleasant surprise: during training, a spokesman for the organization’s staff came onto the court to ask Andrey and his coach, Massimo Puci of Match Ball Bra, if they could meet with the tournament director. Upon arriving in the office of Craig Tiley, where they were very warmly received, and after accepting congratulations for his top-notch tennis in the Hopman Cup, the tournament director announced that he was pleased to be able to offer them a Wild Card slot in the main lineup. It was a strong statement of esteem and an endorsement of their hard work. “I am extremely pleased to be able to play in the main lineup”, Andrey commented, “And I hope to repay this opportunity with a great performance. I have a few days to prepare and acclimate myself to the atmosphere of Melbourne.”

some articles from his official site:
After German Finals, Andrey could hit his stride at the ATP in Zagreb
The points he gained at the Australian Open (where he reached the second round) and those he got thanks to his strong showing at the Heilbronn Challenger (where he was stopped only in the final round by by Michael Berrer) have allowed Andrey Golubev (pictured with his coach Massimo Puci) to climb over 20 spots in the ranking. Now the "Kazakh from Bra" is close to reentering the "top 100", but more important is the maturity he showed during the german tournament, where he managed to come from behind. In the semifinals against Josselin Ouanna, he came close to losing on more than one occasion, but his strong service (over 20 aces) allowed him to take home the semifinal. Hopefully the experience he gained on the german courts will help him at the Zagreb Tournament this week, where Andrey will first come up against Daniel Koellerer. Whoever wins the first round will likely face newly-minted semifinalist at the Australian Open and "top ten", Marin Cilic.

Making quick work of Zagreb, Andrey heads to Rotterdam
The exhaustion, especially mental, accumulated during the preceding weeks, together with the short time available for travel between Heilbronn and Zagreb which cut into the crucial time needed to gain familiarity with the playing surface, negatively impacted Andrey's play in the first round of the Croatian ATP. Facing Austrian Daniel Koellerer, the "Kazakh from Bra" managed to reach the third set, where he was forced to surrender service, losing 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. Now, "Baby face" (as the media sympathetically baptized him during the recent Australian Open) will seek his fortune at the important indoor tournament in Rotterdam, beginning February 8

Andrey takes to the courts in the Belgrade Challenger
It's another week, another tournament for Andrey Golubev, After impressing everyone at the ATP Rotterdam, where he dominated the match against Mikail Yuzhny for the first hour, won the first set 6-1, and forced the Russian to a tie break in the third set, the "Kazakh from Bra" will try to score some more important points at the Belgrade Challenger. First up, Andrey (now ranked number 101 in the world according to the ATP) will meet Alexandre Sidorenko of France. Golubev Guides Kazakstan to Davis Cup's Second Round
The first round of the Davis Cup Asia-Ocenia went better than expected for Andrey Golubev's Kazakstan. The young Bra resident played a critical role in his country's victory over South Korea. The 5-0 final, which brings Kazakstan into the second round scheduled for May 7-9 in China, saw Andrey bring home two points in singles and one in doubles.
In his debut on the courts of Astana, the student of Massimo Puci beat Yong-Kyu Lim 6-1, 6-1, 6-4, only to repeat the performance in the fourth singles against Hyun Joon Kim with a score of 6-1, 6-1, 6-4. At that point the results were a foregone conclusion, the deciding points having been already gained the previous day in doubles with Yuriy Schukin, when the two Kazaks together trounced the Koreans 6-7, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.
Next week Andrey returns to the professional circuit, playing in the Sunrise Challenger in Florida, where tough adversaries await him. It's the final test before the 1000 ATP in Miami.

Sunrise Challenger: Andrey faces Becker
18/03/2010
The first round of the Sunrise Challenger removed all doubts about Andrey's physical and mental condition. There had been every reason to expect a less-than-spectacular performance, given the exhaustive travels of recent weeks and the short time available to adjust to the playing surface. But the "Kazak from Bra" turned in a surprising performance, dominating the court and liquidating the intimidating Chilean Massu in two sets (6-2, 6-4). Today however, he must prevail against an even more challenging foe, Benjamin Becker, who tops the tournament's third series. Should Andrey succeed, it will mean he's ready to take on the rest of the lineup and make is mark on the tournament.
Sunrise Challenger: Andrey's march stopped in the second round.
19/03/2010
A bad day, one of those good for nothing days, happened to Andrey yesterday, when he went down in defeat to Benjamin Becker 0-6, 2-6. Andrey never really seemed to be in the game, allowing his opponent to take charge. His participation at the Sunrise Challenger did allow him to walk away with 10 more ATP points, however. Now, the "Kazak from Bra" and his coach Massimo Puci, will travel to Key Biscayne to try to qualify for the Sony Ericsson Open.
Andrey will play against Robert Kendrick(USA) at the first round of Sony Ericsson Open QUALIFYING SINGLES 2010:

The first round is scheduled for this afternoon, Monday March 22, and will see Andrey take the court against american Robert Kendrick. After Naples semifinals, Andrey makes the scene in Casablanca
06/04/2010
Without time to reflect on the good things that happened in Naples, not to mention what still needs to be improved, his schedule requires Andrey to quickly take to the court in Casablanca for the Grand Prix Hassan II". After a defeat at the Naples Challenger at the hands of Rui Machado (with a double 6-3), Andrey returned to Bra and then left the next day for Morocco, where he is inserted into the main draw of the ATP World Team Tour 250. Golubev, whose ranking rose five places to reach number 88 in the world, will today face Daniel Koellerer. The Austrian, currently number 93 in the ATP rankings, is no slouch, and in both their previous hard-fought meetings, he got the better of the "Kazakh from Bra". Their last face-off, a few weeks ago in Zagreb, lasted into the third set. The hope is that the red clay of Casablanca will mark a reversal in this trend and a victory for Andrey.
ATP Casablanca: Andrey in the second round against Gasquet
07/04/2010
The first taste was sweet for Andrey Golubev in the tournament in Casablanca, the Grand Prix Hassan II. In the first round of the ATP World Tour 250, "Babyface" surpassed Austrian Daniel Koellerer 6-2, 7-6. The race showed Golubev to be both courageous and determined in the second set tiebreak, winning 7-5. Later, the "Kazakh from Bra" seemed rather tired; and, Thursday, April 8, he will face a greater challenge. Standing in his way on the road to the third round of the Moroccan tournament is Frenchman Richard Gasquet, whose talent was clearly shown in the first round when he easily disarmed Belgian Olivier Rochus with a double 6-1. Andrey and Gasquet have never met, but on Thursday evening, they will ...
Monte Carlo Masters: Andrey wins the main draw and thanks his fans!
11/04/2010
Sunday was a very positive day for Golubev. Andrey, despite less than ideal environmental conditions, played very good tennis, overcoming Arnaud Clement 6-1, 6-2. This is an even greater satisfaction, not only because he won entry into the main draw of the Monte Carlo Masters, but also because many of Andrey's friends from in and around Bra went to see him play in Monaco. They were his first thought at the end of the match: "I warmly thank the many friends and fans who came to support me in Monaco. I would like to thank them one by one, but it's not possible, so I will do so on my web site". The best way to show his gratitude to us, however, is to continue to make them dream: Andrey takes to the "Court Of Princes " this morning against another Frenchman: Jeremy Chardy, ranked number 43 in the world.
Monte Carlo Masters: Golubev challenges Ferrer in the second round
12/04/2010
Not far from home... with Bra just a few kilometers away, his supporters continued cheering in the first round of the main draw. One thing is certain: today in Monaco Andrey surprised everyone, beating without any major problem France's Chardy 6-2, 7-6. The second round of the Masters 1000 Monaco, however, will set Golubev against David Ferrer, number 17 in the world and among the best players on clay. To give an idea of the task to which the Kazak from Bra is called on Wednesday 14, suffice it to say that this season the Spaniard's score on clay is 11 wins and only one defeat. Giving Ferrer a hard time would clearly demonstrate to all that clay can also be good for Andrey... and his fans ....

After Monaco, Andrey trains for the Italian International
15/04/2010
Stopped in the second round (after winning two qualifying matches and the opening meet of the main draw against Chardy) Andrey left the Masters Series of Monte Carlo. Spaniard David Ferrer, seeded number 11 and 17 in the world, proved an opponent still out of reach for the Kazakh, who surrendered with a score of 6-3, 6-2. Golubev on the previous day seemed to be able to take on the highest rated opponents, but "Babyface" failed to translate that into game points. The feeling, confirmed by his coach Massimo Puci of "Match Ball Bra" is that Andrey has failed to shake off the anxiety of being able to deal with the best players around. In any event, this experience is one that Andrey will treasure for the rest of the season, as well as the excellent haul of ATP points he collected (90 in all) which put him comfortably in the top 80 in the world. Now for the "Kazakh from Bra" it's time to pull the plug for a while, allowing himself a few days away from tournaments to recharge his batteries and to train with continuity. for the next important event, the Italy International, to be held in Rome from 24 April to 8 May.
Andrey is playing today against Thomas Fabbiano(ITA) at Q1 Rome'10!

Davis Cup: Andrey in China to defend the flag of Kazakhstan
04/05/2010
After losing against Leonardo Mayer in the last qualifying round at the Foro Italico (and before starting play in Paris with preliminary matches to enter the main draw at Roland Garros), Andrey must don the colors of his country, Kazakhstan, for an important challenge for the group's Asia-Ocena Davis Cup from Friday May 7 to Sunday May 9 at the Hubei Olympic Sports Center in Wuhan. The Kazakh group also includes Mikhail Kukushkin, Yuriy Schukin and Serizhan Yessenbekov, all of whom seek to overpower their Chinese hosts, win the right to play in the playoffs, and enter the elite world group, which includes nations taking part in the Davis Cup.
