What´s wrong with Ferrer may I ask?

What has Roddick done lately? Lost to Andreev, lost to Benneteau (indoor), beat Gruel in three, beat Verdasco twice, and beat a couple of clay courters in Acasuso and Martin. I'm not convinced. Personally, I wouldn't touch Roddick as a favorite right now.

If this was 2-3 years ago, I would certify myself if I layed money on Ferrer over Roddick on HC

This is 2006, and Roddick is not even close to any sort of form. Add to that Ferrer as the ability to tear apart big servers with his quality returns (i refer you to the AO this year where he destroyed Ancic, one of the best returning performances I have seen in a while)

$3.20 is a bargain for a match that should be at evens at best, if not Ferrer being a slight favourite.

my, I didn't mean to stir up controversy, just a friendly differ on a bet...mainly I can't forget Ferrer losing to Voltchkov, or getting hammered by Kohlscreiber last week, or Schuettler & Aldi for that matter last year (these names are where I got the c'mon from), even though that's a while ago now. Also watched the Arod/Greul match & other than the 2nd set service blip, he played very well.
Gl to you BG, & as for anyone else, back it up w/ a posted bet on Ferrer!
& with that, I'm up way too late, see ya in 8 hrs or so

I think Roddick will win but the value for a bet is definately with Ferrer

On every forum Ferrer is the play. That scares me.

I like ferrer too . If roddick gets through ,he will face fedex.

Does andy wanna build an awesome losing record against the great one ?
I am not sure.

Ferrer (3.30) vs Roddick
Roddick to not win 2-0. (1.794)

Sharapova to not win 2-0. (2.78)
Golovin seems to step up her game playing the best players in the world. Kirilenko took a set off Sharapova, and I expect Golovin to do the same. Golovin beat Petrova in three sets, and took Mauresmo and Clijsters to three sets all within the last month or so. She has only be beaten in straight sets once all year.

Well ferrer is a fighter and he won't beat himself. Rod will have to make things happen. Ferrer's weak serve won't really be too much of a problem since Roddick's return is pretty weak itself.

Ferrer to beat Roddick - $3.20

You have to wonder whether the bookies actually have been watching much of the tennis this week to set these odds

Clearly this one was set based purely on rep, roddick I am afraid can join the hack club, career is going nowhere fast

Bet won

I don't know if it was even the bookies, I'm pretty sure the line moved fairly heavily as the bets poured in for Roddick. I guess the betters are going off his ranking and reputation.

It's been quite a couple weeks for American tennis between Arod,AA,Ginepri, & Young...at least Blake is worth watching...
The line there was interesting, it actually grew in favor of Arod as the match got closer - can't blame the books, gotta blame dumbasses such as myself :wavey:

Lots of people don't even watch tennis but still bet it based on reputation, previous scorelines, and so forth. I happen to know a few on this board that do it :)

I guess the point I was making was, my book had opened with Ferrer at $3.50, what the public money did to the line was a little irrelevant as those odds were reflective of what chance the bookmakers though Ferrer had to win the match - clearly not a great one.

Nalbandian over Ancic x Ljubicic over Calleri x Federer over Blake @ $1.96

Some risk in Nalbandian here, but it's overall a solid parlay. Federer vs. Blake is scheduled for tomorrow.

Good luck.

That was an incredible fight by Golovin to come back from 5-1 down in the 2nd to take the tiebreak. I was really rooting for her to win the match but she badly rolled her ankle at 4-3 in the 3rd. She still tried playing on it, but just couldn't do it. Amazing performance on her part and she definitely won me over as a fan. :worship:

Yep i was rooting for her too.. her ankle roll looked similar to what happen to Kim earlier this year..

One thing tati needs to work on is losing some weight.. she has a spare tire in the middle which wasnt there last year
