Today Germany's sport-journalists chose their German sport-people of the year. The only tennis-player on the three lists (man, woman, team) is Rainer Schüttler, surprising #4! :worship: :D

1. Jan Ullrich
2. Michael Schumacher
3. Ronny Ackermann
4. Rainer Schüttler

That's great! What about your country? Any tennis-players on the lists?

:wavey:

Tim Henman was in the running for BBC Sports Personality of the Year (UK), but he didn't make the final shortlist. There was no way anyone but Jonny Wilkinson was gonna win it this year, anyway.

Somehow, Greg Rusedski was runner-up in 1998, but I suspect Tim would have to win the big W to get the award :-).

this sounds crazy but i'm gonna diss my own country...

it has a biased policy against all sports except soccer...strangely enough the soccer team has been losing non stop...but it still receives the most funds and support for years...

and there's also no people willing to take tennis seriously here cos it's an expensive sports and people here would rather work to earn a consistent sum of money each month...

however there's a bit of good news as there's two teenagers who are working on their tennis while balancing their studies... hopefully that marks the start of tennis for this country...

as for me... i'm already 22 and too old to make a difference..even though i love this sports a lot... like many people.. i was made to pursue my studies instead... and my tennis is self sponsored (my parents asked me to stop dreaming and refused to pay for the lessons...) so i can't have a regular practice cos it's expensive...

In Belgium,no tennisplayer was nominated for sportsman of the year.Which is logical. But on the womans side Justine won for the very first time :woohoo:
It's quite amazing but the sportswoman of the year award has been going to a tennisplayer for the last 6 years, and the last 13 years it went 8 times to a tennisplayer

No tennisman. The sport-man of the year is Tony Parker (NBA)

I think Anastasia Myskina was the sportswoman of the year. But, she's no man. ;)
