This is the next Tournament I found Santoro listed in so I thought I would go ahead and get the thread ready. Allez

 Being from the U.S. I'm used to male tennis players not liking to play on clay at all

The first match is tricky, but then if he passes Berdych the 2nd round doesn't look too bad.

Good luck Fabrice!

The miracle didn't happen. 6/2 6/4 for Berdych. I have seen the match live and I can't say it's been a great match. Tomas played great from the beginning till the end. Fab has had a lot of trouble getting into the match, finding the right pace. That's what he said in the post match interview. But things could have been far worse as in the 2nd set, Fab had a double break against him and Berdych was close to bagel him. He finally fought, became more aggressive. I admit it was strange, seeing him only playing the ball whereas he is known to tempt a lot of things. He has been Magic Fab only in the 2nd half of the 2nd set but Berdych kept focused and the virus Santoro didn't attack his neurons enough.

Fab said that he had only trained on clay for 1 week and that wasn't enough. He thinks that his game will be better in Rome. I hope so. :)

Thanks for the information Choupi! :) Even though the match didn't turn out the way we wanted it to, it's still cool that you actually got to see it. We just don't get adequate coverage of tournaments in the U.S. in my opinion. I think it's especially cool for you to be able to tell us what he said in the post match interview. Hopefully he has better luck at doubles in this tournament! :D

Oh how right you are about the lack of tennis coverage in the U.S. and it seems to be getting less and less all the time  Except for the people who get The Tennis Channel which I know that neither of us get

As always, there has been no opportunity to see that doubles match. But, when Federer was playing against Gonzalez, Fab has been interviewed by the commentators (especially J. Boutter). He talked about tomorrow's final, that he and Nenad had had a pretty shy beginning in the season, but that they have been accumulating confidence, and they are actually trying to do everything to peak at RG and Wimbledon. The funny detail now. Sure you'd like to know how Fab called his new partner: his bodyguard!!

That is so true   I'm becoming very much afraid that the tennis coverage in the U.S. will soon just be The Tennis Channel which I can't get :scared: But it was a great win for Fab and his partner even if we couldn't see
it ;) I would love it if they could win the Final

Well it wasn't to be. Bjorkman/Mirnyi defeated Santoro/Zimonjic 6-2 and 7-6(2). Of course you must remember that Bjorkman/Mirnyi were the #1 seeded Doubles in the Tournament. So I don't think Santoro/Zimonjic did badly at all.

I'ts good that they made it to the Final...I think it's like Choupi told us that Fab said...they are playing better together all the time...and are really trying to be ready for RG and Wimbledon! :)

Yes, they are accumulating confidence. And though they lost the final, we have to be satisfied with the result. Their plan is working, so far. Hope it keeps up. :)

Yes if two players will just stick together on Doubles and play each Tournament together they will get better ;) The trouble with Doubles is most players don't have a regular partner so they enter Tournaments with just anyone
