Tennis Masters Cup Uncovered Premieres Monday

Have you ever wanted to follow a player from the court into the locker room?

Have you ever imagined what it would be like to ride with a star on the morning of game-day?

Have you ever wondered, "what do players do on their day off?"

Now you can experience it all for yourself with the exclusive documentary "Tennis Masters Cup Uncovered." The one-hour documentary will debut Monday night, December 22, on Eurosport.

The film, produced by Tennis Properties Ltd (TPL) for the ATP and presented by Mercedes-Benz, follows the world's top stars both on- and off-court at the Tennis Masters Cup Houston, where the ATP Champions Race 2003 and the sport's biggest payout were at stake.

See all your favorite stars as they chase $3.7 million in prize money and the title of Masters Cup champion in the world's most high-pressure tennis tournament. See Andre Agassi doing his pre-match preparations, follow Juan Carlos Ferrero on his day off, watch Andy Roddick shooting hoops and much more.

No other tennis show on television will bring you closer to the stars and the drama of men's professional tennis.

More than a dozen international broadcasters will air "Tennis Masters Cup Uncovered" which premieres Monday on Eurosport at 23:45 (CET). Sky Sports in the United Kingdom will air the show five times over the New Year's holiday beginning on New Year's Eve at 6:00pm, 9:00pm, 1:00am and again the next day at 10:00am and 3:00pm.

The U.S. broadcasters, ESPN2 and The Tennis Channel, will first air the documentary during the weekend (January 17-18) prior to the 2004 Australian Open. The ESPN2 version will be called "Aces: Agassi, Roddick and the Masters Cup" and is scheduled for 12 Noon on Saturday, January 17th. DVD copies of the documentary will go on sale next month on ATPtennis.com.

It will be interesting to see if everyone around the world gets the SAME version... ;)

No doubt we Canadians will get what you Amers will get... that is, the Andre and Pandy show... how exciting, as if we don't see enough of those guys on TV, even if it has nothing to do w tennis... :p

Havok
12-19-2003, 10:22 PM
actually, i'm sure we'll get about the same things being shown, i just think ESPN renamed it to entice people to watch it. lets face it, your average american won't watch something to do with tennis these days if it doesn't include Agassi or Roddick. quite sad actually:o

Deboogle!.
12-19-2003, 10:34 PM
it'll be the same except on ESPN because they are cutting it in half.... so Naldo we can't get the same thing, it'll only be half as long lol

so RogiFan you should get the full hourlong version. Everyone should except the US (unless you have TTC). You're getting on TSN, not ESPN so it should be the full version I should think.

Thanx for the info, bunk.

I can't wait for it! I hope ESPN Latin America can transmit soon...

Thanks bunk. I hope TSN shows it at a decent hour - not 1 am on a Sunday or something like that. :)

oh it's gonna be played at some weird ass time on TSN, you can bet your bottom dollar on that:rocker2: and bunk, obviously we won't be getting the exact same thing, but what i meant was that we're gonna be getting similar stuff. we are for sure gonna see the full length of AGassi's part, and also Roddick's part. we'll most probably get the full version of Ferrero and Federer as well, since they won Slams this year, and are in the top 4. the others, Coria/Schuettler/Moya/Nalbandian (Daveeeeeeeed :baby: ) we will probably see a shortened up version of theirs. i am really looking forward to this, it'll be cool to see what they do besides practice/play!

Deboogle!.
12-20-2003, 01:40 AM
well it sounds like there was one full version produced. TTC, Eurosport, etc. will be showing the full version. ESPN2 in the US will show a half-hour edited version. What TSN will show in Canada I have no clue, but if they show the full version, it should be the same full version.

Oh he looks pretty damn hot, if you ask me. Camera shows him (close up) getting a massage, and as he turns his head to the camera, his curly black hair falls so perfectly over his face ....*sigh*

Can't wait to see the behind-the-scenes locker room shenanagins. ;)

the US gets the clay TMS too, on TTC

Are they owned by ESPN? If not, I don't see why they wouldn't show the whole thing. But then again, tennis isn't much more popular in Canada than in the US, is it?

the clip of Moya is just hot, period. Not cuz of the hair (hate long hair on guys) but the whole massage with the carefully (and not quite successfully) placed towel.....

ahem.

Havok
12-20-2003, 02:40 AM
TSN just uses coverage being shown in europe when its in the european clay swing:rocker2: so everyone in the US without TTC can't see these events, while here in Canada/Europe we can:banana:

I'd like to step on that damn dancing banana right now, smartypants.

I dont even get TTC. :(

In fact, this whole thing got me so ticked, I sent ESPN a nice little email wondering why we are not getting the privilege of viewing the entire documentary. Because if it has anything to do with Carlos Moya's towel falling off in front of the camera, I will just fork out the cash and buy a copy from the ATP site....

Yes, and I know everyone is going on about Moya and the strategically (un)placed towel, ......but in my opinion Daveed (I'll ignore the baby part too!) and Guillermo just look sooooo gorgeous in that clip, - I keep on watching it over and over again just to see David at the end :) Can't wait to see the real thing on Eurosport tomorrow.....it's on really late at night so I'll have to video it and then I can just "fast forward" the bits I don't want to see the next day...!

Gui looked a little dreamy. Maybe he was thinking of Carla. But he looked very handsome.

Daveeeeeeeeeed:baby: :p I don't see the appeal. To me he's not attractive at all at all. Maybe it's the whole blond wet lips thing. I never thought Boris Becker was attractive either.

Moya makes my case again for why tennis players shouldn't be hiding their bodies under so much cloth. :)

shorter shorts. I don't know how much say the ATP has in this, though.

OK Bunk, - well I've just finished watching my video of the ATP programme, and on the whole, I have to say that I was quite impressed. Must admit (without meaning to cause offence), that I was a bit worried beforehand in case it turned into the "Andy and Andre Show", but in fact they show equal coverage of ALL 8 players with video clips and an interview with each one of them.

There are some good shots of the opening ceremony at the beginning including an interview with "Mattress Mac" (I think perhaps the less said about my views on him the better!), and quite a lot of Carlos Moya on the Massage Table, which I'm sure will keep a lot of people happy :)
There is a really interesting interview with Andre and I guess you will probably enjoy some "topless" shots of Andy!! From my point of view, I was more than happy with some gorgeous shots of David and I will be winding back the video to see these over and over again :) Evidently he has just been voted "Sexiest Man Alive" in "People Magazine" (Espanol) - I had no idea but I certainly agree with the choice :)

There isn't much actual tennis coverage (just a few key points in matches such as Roddick/Coria, Federer/Agassi), but I thought it was generally well-presented and professional and I enjoyed it! Of course I don't know if you will see exactly the same thing as us - for instance we had a British commentator who was probably "over-dubbed" afterwards, but I think it is definately well-worth watching. I like the guitar music too which I thought was very atmospheric.

So I look forward to reading your comments about it when you have seen it. Now I'm off to rewind my tape and watch David again!!!

cool! Thanks for the recap! It sounds great! I'm kinda glad it's not the tennis as much - we get to see that all the time but not the other stuff ever!

Unfortunately what ESPN2 has decided to give us is a half-hour edited version so I'm quite positive that it'll unfortunately be the Andy and Andre show here in the US :( I hope they give the others their deserved airtime though!!

And we also have to wait til right before the AO, too. I know The Tennis Channel is carrying the whole version.... I have a friend who is one of the few who actually gets it so I might be able to beg and plead with him to tape the 1-hour version for me

Don't think Eurosport are repeating it Carrot, but Sky will be showing it over the New Year period. Bunk posted the times of the Sky showings at the start of this thread - don't know whether it will be on Sky 1, 2 or 3 but guess the "TV Times" will tell you. You really should see it - there's a cute interview with Guille and nice shots of him playing table tennis with his brother :)

At first you can hardly tell Coria apart from those kids he's playing with, LOL.

Dunno about Nalbandian's sex appeal, but he did make one memorably goofy goggle-eyed face in a photo shoot which stood out in my memory. It was OK as a behind the scenes documentary, although I would have liked a few more match clips - preferably without the distractingly flashy camera angles and slow-motion shots. Still, very interesting indeed to see Agassi and Coria slumped in trauma in that plush locker room after their group losses to Federer and Roddick, and Nalbandian's minor bust-up with tournament officials after the Agassi match (which, oh thank you ATP, we don't get to hear much from or see any of his interview).

Tennis players are really very boring people, aren't they? Their idea of other interests away from tennis basically involves watching or playing other sports - hence Ferrero's round on the golf course and Schuettler watching basketball. Federer, typically active man, is in his hotel room watching telly and giving a characteristically lukewarm assessment of the tournament and the venue.

Fascinating to note that in Agassi's night match with Ferrero, George Bush was far more vocal than Mattress Mac in his support - but then he is an ex-president of the U.S. as opposed to a tournament director. Sheesh, McIngvale was doing promotion work and he seems like a frighteningly committed and energetic man, although if he actually has to tell the ground staff how to cover a wet court then no wonder the tournament was in so much trouble.

Bush 41 is a huge tennis fan...he even plays in charity events from time to time! and Mac is most defnitely uber-committed - to everything he does. Hence why he has the biggest furniture store in the whole country.
