I wonder why Houston is not on green clay, too. The ATP calendar needs tournaments on this surface, Houston would fit well. It's not like the players use it as a preparation to Monte Carlo anyway.

Neither. One should be lucky to be picked for a trial because then they wouldn't sit in a room for 8 1/2 hours with nothing to do. A person can only read and sleep so much.

So it's quite important to them to maintain the tourney on red clay - after the problems with the surface and bounce last year, they publicly said they were completely committed to keeping the red clay and would do it right - so a while before the tourney this year they had all the people from Paris flown in and it cost a ton of money but they did it anyway and the surface this year was great :)

What's too bad is that like Atlanta, which was the last green clay tourney in the US, hasn't been played in 2001. The ladies even have a Tier I on it, but there's no ATP tourney on it at all anymore.. i agree it'd be nice to see a tourney on it again, just not Houston. :)

For those of you in the US with Comcast cable, the final of this tournament will be broadcast on Comcast Sports Network (CSNET) on Wednesday, May 3rd. Check your local listings (I found it by doing a search at the Yahoo TV listings).

I think Comcast Sports net is only in certain markets.... I know we don't have it in LA...

http://www.comcastsportsnet.com/ only lists 4 markets... kinda like Fox Sports I guess but not as big. Funny, I remember watching the Bermuda Challener like 2 years ago on Fox Sports, then last year they showed it AD NAUSEUM on TTC, I guess they're having trouble finding a permanent home for it lol.
