Why did he separate from PL?

I'm really wondering why he separated from Peter Lundgren. I know they were friends and this season was great for Rogi, I don't think he had reasons to complain. I admit a change is never bad, I just hope it won't prove to be a wrong decision.

Roger thought it over for months and said he wanted change and something new to be added. It was not an easy decison for him. Roger will be fine I think and I hope he will find and coach who will help him as Peter has done. I really do want Roger to be number one and I think a new coach could help.

This is what I read in the paper (Thursday 11/12/03) - had to type the news over, so pls excuse any mistyping or things like that.

WIMBLEDON champion Roger Federer announced yesterday he was splitting with his coach Peter Lundgren in order to give his career 'new impetus'.

"This decision comes after a lot of hard thinking," said the Swiss player who finished the year as world no.2.

"I felt as if I've fallen into sort of the same old routine. And over the last few months our relationship has become more strained."

Federer told the Swede of his decision last week.

"It wasn't easy and of course Peter was very disappointed," said Federer.

The two had worked together since 2000 when Federer quit the coach who had developed his early career, Peetr Carter.

Under Lundgren's guidance, Federer won 11 titles, including this year's Wimbledon title and the ATP Masters Cup in Texas last month.

Federer dismissed reports that he was set to work with former Olympic singles champion Marc Rosset. - AFP

Hope that short news help a bit.

i'm kinda sad for peter even though it sounds mutual... how mutual could it have been? roger is a dream player for any coach... then again, it gives peter a chance to live a less hectic life and perfect the games of future swiss stars and still make a pretty penny...
