A season with Seb and Fab (Marseille, preparation of the clay season, preparation of the grass season...)
Some were already available on Youtube & co, but that way you have all of them on the same page.

Fabrice talking about the Davis Cup team (french):
edit: please see post #23

Here's a very rough and probably not very accurate translation of what he says:

He says the French team looks the best on paper. The team now is stronger than ever. There are 4 players with different games, personalities. He thinks Jo is the best of them and he would have been ranked among the top if he weren't injured. He is closest with Richard because he has known him since Richard was very young and watched him grow up. He is open to be the French Davis Cup captain, he would definitely consider it, maybe 2012.

03-13-2009, 06:24 PM
I hadn't seen you had already posted it here, sorry.
Your summary is perfect, but your link opens a video of Jo for me, is it a Freudian slip? :p
He even says Jo would be top 3 or top 4 right now, so up there with Nole and Muzza.
And he says 2010, 2011, 2012 for the Davis Cup, he doesn't rule it out for next year already.

03-13-2009, 06:32 PM
I just realized he also was on "Fabulous Sport" last month, I had missed it, there are a few videos here:

03-13-2009, 06:54 PM
I don't know if it's worth translating it since nobody seems to check Fabrice's forum anymore...

In the first video he answers a few questions asked by the TV viewers:
- is it true that his father was goalkeeper? Yes, he played in the team of Toulon around 1965-70.
- which partner has he enjoyed the most playing with? He first jokes because the question is a bit ambiguous in French. And then he answers Mika Llodra because they were so successful together. He says that without the constraints of the singles circuit, they could have become the best team in the world in his opinion.
- why does he play with both hands? When he was 6 years old, he was at the tennis club where his father was working, decided to play tennis too and picked the biggest and heaviest racquet he could find, in a very childish way. Since the racquet was way too heavy for him, he started playing holding it with both hands.
- 6 singles titles, 24 doubles titles, would he have preferred it the other way around? Sure, but one can't always choose.
- does he often go back to Tahiti where he's born? No, because he wants to spend at least 3 weeks-1 month there, have time to go back to the place where he was born, etc. so he will do it after his tennis career, which means pretty soon now.

03-13-2009, 07:05 PM
And in the 2nd one he answers questions about the tour (who is the most...?):

- who is the hairiest player? Gonzalez
- the biggest fan of thongs? (the level of the show is not very high :o) He first answers "aren't we all somehow?" because he understands they ask him who is keen on thongs on women. Then he understands that they wanted to know if some players wear thongs: not that he knows of, no. The host: "Jo-Wi Tsonga maybe?" "Ahem, no."
- the biggest womanizer? Gasquet
- the most cultivated? Blake
- the most appearance-conscious? Federer
- the most mythomaniac? Lopez
- the one who drinks the most alcohol? He answers that everybody likes having a little drink to celebrate a great win
- the sorest loser? Robredo
- the most doped? He says they just need to check the news for that one
- the best football player? He hesitates a lot, the host says Baggy is really good, so he answers Baggy

03-14-2009, 10:38 PM
- the most doped? He answers they just need to check the news for that one
He keeps the exclusivity for his book ? In l'equipe mag

An other Tauziat style book  and we can expect DC revelations or his versions.

03-14-2009, 10:49 PM
Thanks, good news - I quite enjoyed Tauziat's book! More fun than Noah dispensing his infinite wisdom.

03-14-2009, 11:04 PM
Santoro would like to be the next trainer or DC captain so a Tauziat book is a risk even if he will say nothing about the new musketeers and Tauziat was already hate before his book indeed . I'm waiting the DC chapter
I just go on his forum and he will do the Drucker show in may, it's a 2 hours emission on sunday and it will deal with french tennis sure but in Drucker boring style. And fun he already ask for a WC in Bercy lol

03-15-2009, 09:21 PM
My God, It does open Jo's video! My bad... I watched Jo's and Fabrice's video around the same time, must have copy/pasted the wrong link, I'd say definitely a freudian slip.

2 report about Fabrice on that link http://info.francetelevisions.fr/?id-categorie=REPORTAGES_SPORT

He will work for Europe 1 in one month and his book will release at the end of the year. I can't all translate sorry.

05-17-2009, 01:37 PM
Thanks, I had missed your post!
The direct links because they're not on the 1st page anymore already:

Here also is a short report about the little ceremony after his last match in Bordeaux:

05-17-2009, 02:57 PM
Oops, I see now the TV show about Fabrice was today, I thought it was on the 27th of May. I guess there will be videos somewhere. There are replays on TV5, but I don't know if it's that part of the show.

05-18-2009, 07:46 PM
The video of the Drucker show, but it will be available only a few days, you should download it if you want to keep it:

Interview in Metz:

And the report in the local news:
(go to 19'40)

10-16-2009, 07:33 AM
I listened to his "Nonobstant" yesterday (it's an one-hour interview, so I thought it might be the most interesting one in his big media week), there wasn't anything new for me, I found it a bit disappointing, but here is the mp3 if other people are interested:
Calvi sounds very enthusiastic about his book and I think he means it, it seems to be better than the usual autobiographies of sportsmen.

10-16-2009, 08:29 PM
I'm waiting your summary of Les Grosses Têtes :p

I hesitate to buy that book cos i really don't care of his life but as i love the behind the scene i don't know

10-17-2009, 08:52 AM
Same here, so I was actually hoping you would buy it and tell us if it is worth it, soulage! It also feels like we already know half of the things he says in the book with all the buzz around it.
But since you like the generation of Arnaud, Seb & Co, it might be interesting for you, he obviously speaks quite a lot about the DC. Calvi was shocked they don't even talk with each other anymore with Forget. And Fabrice answered "one day we will talk about all this - probably - but not yet".
Calvi said it's the best autobiography of a sportsman he's read in a very long time, but what is of interest for Calvi isn't necessarily interesting for tennis nuts like us.
With Calvi they talk quite a lot about the relationship with the father, his lack of ambition, he never thought he would become the number 1, he knew pretty soon he would never be able to win a Slam, etc.
The part about doping seems very lame as he can't give any names or any clues about who he suspects to be doped, of course.
And then they go on and on about how freaking amazing it was to tank the 4th set against Safin in Roland-Garros in 2001. Really, you would think nobody else has done that in the history of tennis listening to them. ^^

There are a few nice moments, like when he jokes that people sometimes think he's 45 years old. And we already know it, but he really is a major Fedtard, it's quite funny!

10-17-2009, 08:58 AM
I also just watched "Thé ou Café", pretty different style ^^ - he has one-night-stands with groupies, he's had sex just before a match too and it doesn't harm his game, he flirts with the host of the show... Il fait beaucoup glousser Catherine Ceylac.

10-17-2009, 10:11 AM
Another Fabrice's interview on Europe 1 with Marc Olivier Fogiel. He also speaks about his book.

10-18-2009, 08:20 AM
Oh, and with all the sex talk I forgot to say he already suggested with Ceylac that he was probably going to play a few more events next year. ^^ He said it again in the Ruquier show.

10-18-2009, 10:13 AM

I read Truc's post yesterday and didn't really know what to make of it. I thought maybe this was a parody show where Fabrice has sex with groupies as in a skit??? :haha: I thought I was imagining things and went to sleep. But I googled it today and it turns out to be a weekend talk show. It's a bit longer than half an hour:
I will have to watch it again because I didn't understand everything.

10-18-2009, 12:03 PM
Sorry for the misunderstanding, that's just what he *says*. It's a completely harmless talk show, on Saturday morning on a public TV channel. I was just like "OK, we got it!" when he brought up the topic another time in the "Dos à dos" interview.

You can watch the Ruquier show too if you don't have enough, he's the 2nd guest after Julien Dray:
But "Thé ou Café" probably is easier to understand.

10-18-2009, 07:43 PM
:D it was a pretty good show but in dos-a-dos segment if she is willing to ask those kind of questions, the answers should be a little more detailed. like, how long ago did the said incident happen? which tournament? was she a blond or a brunette? etc etc. simple yes/no is not all that exciting.
By the way, is Fabrice separated from his wife? That's the impression I got. If so, I need catch up on some serious tabloid reading.

the Ruquier show is a bit too long and they talk about politics way too much (for a foreigner who is clueless about Sarkozy's son...) I watched the beginning, but then I didn't have time. [:topic: what's with the turkish season in paris and the red/white lights at eiffel tower? that sure looks random...]

Anyways all this French tv videos are helping me improve my french, so yay! Thanks! I used to buy L'équipe when I was in France because it was the only paper I could fully understand, that and of course the free metro papers.
