Can anyone persuade me that Henman is NOT a good bet against Lopez?

Tie-breaks could be a problem for Henman, but I believe he can break Lopez before that. Dubai's surface is as fast as Miami, so it's not ultra fast. So breaks of service are common, so I can't think of any reason why Henman can't beat Lopez.

Yeah I agree - but Lopez's tiebreak record isn't much better to be honest. Henman should break him a few times...and he likes playing lefthanders too...

Probably this will be my only Dubai bet tomorrow. Agassi over Rusedski at 1.36 is good, but nobody knows how Agassi is playing, so no bet for me on this game.

Santoro is considered the underdog against O Rochus, but I think I won't bet on it too.

My plays:

Berdych to beat C.Rochus @1.51 (medium play)

Berdych has had a rough start to 06' losing tight matches to opponents like Stepanek, Dent, Malisse, and Davydenko. He hasn't really lost to anyone that he should of beaten and I think he will take the opportunity of an easy R1 and beat Rochus in straight sets. The 1.51 line is rather generous mainly because of Christophe's run at Rotterdam. Christophe really only beat one worthy opponent to reach that final and I feel Christophe won't get as lucky this time around. He'll be facing the talented Czech by the name of Berdych :)

More plays later on. :wavey:

Well he has made QF a few times and Lopez only progressed past QF once, and that was when he was playing well. The match-up doesn't favour the Spaniard at all. Henman has an excellent record vs lefthanders, he often does well against serve-volleyers and Lopez has a poor record vs serve-volleyers. Add to that the Spaniard's current slump and Henman's determination to pick up points...worth a shot at those odds really ;)

Vik has been playing like absolutely shit since he stretched an out of form Hewitt to 5 sets earlier this year. Tipsarveic on the other hand just won another CH event without dropping a set, and is 1-0 H2H over Vik. This young kid is very talented and with more experience he will bring trouble to the ATP! I don't think Tipsarevic will lose a needed R1 win here, and with an easy draw he has he will make use of the opportunity! Expecting Tipsarevic to pull through in straight sets!

0-1 down in H2H, but has improved much more than his opponent since that match almost 3 years ago. Vik has had a bad start to the year, but Tipsarevic might be just the win he needs. Plus, Flava's on it, and you can't go against Flava. :wink1:

Mayer @ 5.85
Biggest dog i've ever gotten on, but i think he can do it here! Hewitt has been in poor form this year. Sure, he made the final of San Jose two weeks ago, but when you look at who he played, you can see why. I wouldn't rate Mayer as the favourite here, but at those odds he's definitely value.

Kim is 1-8 on Clay for the past 12 months with his only win at an American clay event in Houston. Daniel on the other hand spends all his time on clay and is 42-15 (including challengers). This year has been pretty bad for Daniels having to face Massu three times in R1. Daniel has split sets with Massu and took Massu to TBs showing that he is capable but just hasn't had the luck. I don't see how Kim will have a chance but I hope Daniel isn't distracted by the fact that he'll have to play Massu again in R2 if he beats Kim.

Florent Serra -138 over Juan Antonio Marin ($1380 to win $1000)

I have been fading Juan Antonio Marin for a few weeks straight now and it seems to be working like a charm. Marin seems to be getting a little bit old these days and he should probably be on the Challenger circuit a lot more than he has been so far this year. Marin is coming off a qualies win against a player ranked 166 in the world and the week before that, he was stunned by local hero Ricardo Mello in Brazil. If Marin needed two TB wins over a so-so qualies opponents, he is going to get blown out by Serra. I can't remember the last time Marin won a significant match against a TOP 100 opponent on the clay surface. The only tournament Marin ever plays well when it comes to ATP level tournaments is in Estoril (Portugal). In all other tournaments, Juan Antonio Marin is 0-7 versus seeded opponents in the main draw of an ATP level clay court tournament since 2001. Florent Serra is ranked 37th as of this week and is bitter after getting demolished by Juan Monaco last week in Costa do Sauipe. Serra has yet to record a significant win on the clay courts this season and this is his big chance to do it. Believe it or not, Serra is 9-5 in his last 14 matches played in South America while Marin (who has played all the Challengers) is only 9-8. The fact that Marin has reached 30 Tie Breaks in the last 12 months of clay court tennis compared to Serra's 10 Tie Breaks tells me that Marin is a loose canon waiting to explode. Serra is 7-3 in those TB's while Marin is 15-15. This is a win Serra would love to have under his belt setting him up for the European clay court season. This is the highest Serra has ever been ranked in the ATP and from what I have seen, there is only one way for him to on the clay courts and that is up. Give me the frenchboy for a large wager.

I don`t think you can get any profit in a long run with those kind of jumbo-combos..

But good luck anyway!

Add:

Daniel over Kim @1.48 (highest play of day)

Kim is 1-8 on Clay for the past 12 months with his only win at an American clay event in Houston. Daniel on the other hand spends all his time on clay and is 42-15 (including challengers). This year has been pretty bad for Daniels having to face Massu three times in R1. Daniel has split sets with Massu and took Massu to TBs showing that he is capable but just hasn't had the luck. I don't see how Kim will have a chance but I hope Daniel isn't distracted by the fact that he'll have to play Massu again in R2 if he beats Kim.

I decided to lay off this bet since Agassi pulled through with my parlay, and Ginepri should win... Shifting my high bet to Serra over Marin. Hoping both Serra and Ginepri win to pull off for some green for the day.

Quite simply I was very confident Daniel will beat Kim if he plays for real, but he'll be facing Massu in R2 and because of this there's a good chance Daniel will tank the match I can't take the risk. The line on this match has been moving like crazy all day and it's cause me to have doubt, therefore I can't put high stakes on this. Laying off such that if Daniels wins I'll break even for the match, if Kim wins I'll take a minor loss. Playing it safe when in doubt.

Also leaning on:

JMDP to beat Montanes @1.71

If serra beats marin, will put half profits into JMDP! If he doesnt prolly wont take this wager as JMDP is still young and inconsistent... though I fancy his chances :)

Any particular reason why you're backing X? Normally you like to play it safer so the Malisse choice seems strange.d

I like his chances now that they're back outdoors, & even though Sod made the final, that was a horrible showing by Max, so I'm hoping Max has decided he's really a doubles player again

GL to us Sportsfreak!

Oh, & I forgot to post it, but I won a million units on Al-Ghobeldygook earlier...I liked his performance at Sandville, Camelsburg, & again at Oiltown the last few weeks & figured what the heck? I'll probably lay off him rd. 2 though ;)

I have a medium bet on him doubled with Andre... I trust him with a medium wager .. how the hell can he lose to Goldstien? I watched robbys match closely last week against tursunov and they contended well.. Robby lost 5-7, 6-7 which is quite respectable. Robby does everything goldstien does but a little better in each category. Even if he's in a slump i dont see him losing to goldstien.

There are some here that are going against Ginepri for this one so who knows..

but gl whatever you decide.. im confident :)

F***

Montanes won on retirement. He was going to win too 6 - 2, 5 - 3

Would have got good money at those odds, now I get it refunded :(

Oh well, I won on 3 today and the 4th one is pending. Goldstein lost the first set 6 - 7.

Yep and he loses it 6-7...

I'm watching it right now on TTC.. Robby had loose service in the 1st and 3rd.. after that he's been dominating Goldstien pushing him to duece and eventually breaking him twice.. Robby has held 40-0 since the first 2 bad service games .

Review of my day:

Tipsy to beat Vik - loses
Agassi x Ginepri - pending because Vegas rain delay
Daniel to beat Kim - Daniel won but I layed off for fear of Daniel tanking
Serra to beat Marin - loses
JMDP to beat Montanes - void due to retirement

Overall - worst start of a week in 2006 because I had Serra as a Big Play and lost most profits from last week on Serra. Hoping to making up for the loses as the week passes by.

Until then!
