I'd leave the bros alone if it comes to that! No telling how either will play although Ollie would be favourite. Besides, Ollie is enjoying making Jarkko work for victory right now :(

I'd like to take Soderling over Vliegen if the odds are right.

Jez - why is Pashanski blacklisted?

He has been a real cashcow of late.

Nieminen x Stepanek @ 3.05
Nieminen should easily account for Rochus, who has had an easy run to this stage and will be way out of his league. Davydenko would have to come in favourite against Stepanek, but I'd call this match a 50/50 considering Stepanek's form. Stepanek is 3-2 down in H2H, but their only match last year went Stepanek's way. Davydenko's style is to rally heavily from the baseline, normally waiting for an error from the opponent. If Stepanek's game is on all he should need to do is keep his winner count above his UE count.

Martin @ 2.35
Martin has been strong this tournament. Accounting for Patience was no easy task, considering he'd earlier taken out Gaudio and Pashanski. Both have had long weeks, but I believe Martin's fitness is supreme. Another thing to note is the 5-1 H2H record in Martin's favour! He was finalist in this tournament last year, but I believe he'll go one further this year.

My play for today:

Soderling to beat Vliegen @1.445 (higher play)

Soderling has been solid this week making quick work of all his opponents! He has yet to drop a set and revenged his lost to Murray in a nice victory as well. Robin is solid indoors and I'm willing to risk a lot on Sodo to take care of business in route fashion over Vliegen who narrowing escaped Capdeville! Have to credit Kristof for a great tournament and taking out Blake in R1, but time to pack his bags!

Memphis lines just came in:

Haas x Vliegen @ 3.3
Haas to beat Benneteau is fairly self-explanatory. Benneteau has been strong this week, but I think he just might run out of steam (remember, he had to play quallies as well). I watched Vliegen live at the Australian Open, and ever since, I've really liked him. He's been playing awesomely this year, and has seen his ranking rise to a new high of 65. He's such an underrated player, and while he is being underrated by the bookies, I want to take advantage. Soderling isn't back at his full game yet, and has only just started seeing good form this week. I believe he's still to raw back from injury to win. Vliegen has had plenty of match practice against players with similar style to Soderling. This is Vliegen's real chance to rise to the ocassion.

Nieminen/Davydenko @ 2.05
I know i've taken Stepanek in another bet, so this is just to cover the bet above. I trust Nieminen to do the job against Rochus.

Big day for me. :)

Good Luck :yeah:

Henin @ $1.80 over Sharapova

Vliegen @ $2.85 over Soderling - I agree with Deccy. Vliegen has been playing well the last few weeks. He has the game to take it up to Soderling and I believe he will. Vliegen is money at this price.

Stepanek @ $2.37 over Davydenko

I'm thinking about Davydenko but his statemant after last match wich he won easy against Bracciali (6-4, 6-2) is not so good.
“During the early stages of the match I actually felt nervous,” Nikolay Davydenko admitted afterwards. He will play either Radek Stepanek or Novak Djokovic next. “I made a lot of unforced errors - far too many for a top-10 player really. It’s strange, because I didn’t feel under any external pressure. We’ll have to wait and see who I play next. In the meantime, I need to work out how I can improve my game.”

Against Bracciali or Rusedski, Kolya showed how he treat serve-and-volleyers these days... So why not against Stepanek? Actully I have got one reason, but it's not familiar with sport spirit. Something else?

Anyone?

if he really puts 100% into it, i would say he will win comfortably, but i am loathed to lay any money on him

Well I'd expect Nieminen and Soderling to win. I'd put them in a double together....but I don't have the confidence to do that right now :help:

The Soderling match could easily see a tiebreak and I am sick to the teeth with the number of bets I have lost on tiebreaks over the last 10 days...besides, there is no clear statistic that has Soderling favourite. Vliegen is capable of winning and Christophe Rochus has beaten Nieminen before. Maybe Nieminen is exhausted...who knows!

Can't wait til Monday...Henman over Pretty Boy Lopez with no backhand pass!!! :smash:

Rusedski is hopeless off the ground. Bracciali is not a serve and volleyer. ;)

My reason for picking Stepanek was that apart from being the best serve and volleyer at the moment, he's also frustrating to play off the ground with his low slices and deep and flat groundstrokes. He also sets his shots up very nicely to come to the net where he's excellent at finishing off points. I thought that his style off the ground would trouble Davydenko's hard hitting baseline style, as well as not letting Nikolay get into his rhythm. :)

Stepanek over Davydenko @ +132 - $250 to win $330

WON
Stepanek did well to come back from a break down in the third to win five straight games, breaking Davydenko three times in the process.

The Chosen One won 46 63 63
congrats to him and his backers

Guys, forgive me my synicism, but there are group of players (like Novak, Davydenko, Acasuso or light years in front of them all - Mariano-don't-ban-me-for-8-years-Puerta) who give me suspicious thoughts with every break in their game....

Davy led with a break up in 3rd. A lot of money was laid on him then. Much more then on the Handsome One when led 5-3. Maybe because it was closer to finish the match.
Or maybe Davy let do the money his Russian friends. Again.

:haha: Well yeah I couldn't really. Soderling is the better indoor player and in great form...he should win!

I'm still bitter about Roddick though...how the hell did he manage that? Serves me right for doubling up with a 1.2 play but you could hardly not forgive me for thinking that it was virtually 100% sure way to increase value...

Well sadly I can't escape the scores...but I'll try and concentrate on my Human Rights notes...
