Well inspite of all Taylor's recent problems winning and now the bad back the ATP site for 02/20/06 shows him as ranked #41. Which is a +2 :)

+2 is def good but he's on a slippery slope

Deboogle!.
02-24-2006, 01:41 AM
the +2 is more a result of others not defending points and losing them than Taylor doing anything. his first concern right now needs to be staying healthy, though.

I agree with you there OddJob. Taylor just doesn't seem to have things going his way right now. And I agree with you Deb that right now he has to get healthy again. So all in all Taylor is just not in a good situation right now

Is his bad back perhaps the result of not stretching properly?

Is his bad back perhaps the result of not stretching properly?
You know it could be. And then there is the fact that Taylor weighs more than he should which is also not good for the back. And tennis itself is a game that certainly isn't the easiest on the back. I don't think all that conditioning that was mentioned in an article about Taylor did him much good

Inspite of all Taylor's problems as of today 02/27/06 the ATP site has Taylor ranked at #40 which is +1.

Taylor has lost a lot of weight. Has he got more to lose? I don't think he'll look cute if he loses more.

I haven't seen Taylor yet on TV this year so I don't know about his weight other than during the off season he was supposed to be in training to help him lose weight. Maybe all his training paid off. I would like to get a chance to see Taylor on TV to see what he does look like now.

He looks thinner, fitter, but obviously, he can't get all the way fit in one off-season, it's a process.

And now he has got a back problem to deal with which probably won't help him in trying to get and stay fit

When did he ever do conditioning, apart from his hair?

He's been out for over a month already, by the time houston rolls around it'll be going on 2 months.. if he has a back injury THAT serious.... then uh.

Somehow I get the feeling that Taylor is not all that motivated when it comes to playing tennis

Well if he were motivated I think he would condition himself better which should make him less prone to injury.

He did, he moved to Florida and cut off a lot of body fat.

you know, Rome wasn't built in a day.

I haven't seen Taylor yet this year, but the last posts I remember reading about him physically had remarks like he had slimmed down some. The posts made me think he hadn't made much improvement physically. I would like to see him for myself, but he has to get back to playing Tournaments first

I had read about Taylor moving to Florida and doing all this conditioning work, but then I saw posts that said he had slimmed down "some". So it didn't sound like to me for all the work Taylor said he was putting in that he had gotten much in the way of results. But then as I said I haven't seen him for myself this year.

Mae, dear, if people said Taylor was slimming down, doesn't that mean that there are some improvments being made? I mean obviously Taylor is not gonna have the physique of Juan Carlos Ferrero or someone, but from what we've heard, he is slimming down so that has to be good?

 I just like to see players for myself and then normally I don't agree with what people say anyway. So I don't guess it makes much difference

I said "normally' I don't agree with them about how tennis players look after I have seen them on TV. People say that Robby and Nadal aren't smaller this year than they were last year, but I think they are both smaller. Andy is the one that really caught me off guard. He is really big. When I see him on TV he looks tall, but not big. But when you put him right beside another player like Robby, James, etc.
it shows he is indeed big.

I'm afraid Taylor's ranking is sinking badly right now
And I still haven't heard if he is actually going to play in Houston  But as we all know Taylor's game and clay are just not well suited so I doubt if he will do much winning to pull up his ranking even if he plays in Houston

Deboogle!.
04-04-2006, 04:23 AM
Well the withdrawal deadline is this friday, so I imagine he'd wait til he's absolutely sure he can't play, if he's going to pull out at all. Anyway, Houston's not worth that many points so even if he were to play and win a few matches it's not gonna get him back into the top 50 or anything.
