Looking back at the PYW Australian Open it seems a shame that such hype was around Baghdatis. It would've been nice to see an epic final like Baggy's semi where he saved multiple match points (3 I think) and won by:
[26] NIEMINEN, Jarkko FIN lost to BAGHDATIS, Marcos CYP | 7-5 6-7 6-1 6-7 4-6
Surenly the best match PYW has witnessed in it's short history.

One thing that spoils the game imo is this. Say its Hewitt against Alejandro Hernandez, people who have never even seen or heard of Hernandez would vote for him simply because they don't like Hewitt. I think that there should be a rule where you will have to have watched both players in order to vote in a particular match.

Couldn't disagree more. You just have to vote for the player you prefer so people who hate Hewitt assume that they will like his opponent more and so they vote for him. Nothing wrong with that.

:rolls: And how exactly are we supposed to determine that?
Anyway, I don't see anything wrong with voting against players you dislike.

Had to add the double bagel Clement dished out to Rochus in the final of Casablanca.
Also updated how the winners won, Juanqui is now on a twelve match winning streak which includes 6 bagels and 5 breadsticks. Looking good on the road to Roland Garros.
A classic match between the world number 1 and the world number 2. If Oli can go deep he will close the gap. He deserves to win a title after being runner up about ten million times.

Some more interesting statistics. For those who have lost count here is the ridiculous Oli Rochus and his final defeats.
HAMBURG
1st Round: (13)NIEMINEN, Jarkko FIN def. SANGUINETTI, Davide ITA | 6-2 6-2
2nd Round: (13)NIEMINEN, Jarkko FIN def. ROCHUS, Christophe BEL | 6-4 6-1
3rd Round: (13)NIEMINEN, Jarkko FIN def. WAWRINKA, Stanislas SUI | 6-2 7-6

Semi Finals: (13)NIEMINEN, Jarkko FIN def. FERRERO, Juan Carlos ESP | 6-2 7-6
Final: (13)NIEMINEN, Jarkko FIN def. TURSUNOV, Dmitry RUS | 6-4 7-5 6-4
Niemenen's victory in ZAGREB is by far the most dominant display we have ever seen in PYW's short history. Tursunov wasn't far away however. Muller was made to work a bit harder.
Games Lost:
3rd: Muller - 28 overall. 5.6 per match.
2nd: Tursunov - 22 overall. 4.4 per match.
1st: Niemenen - 14 overall. 2.8 per match.
Once again, if anybody would like me to do the leg work and look up any statistics regarding PYW I will be more than happy to do so.

Sets
Jarkko - 36
Opponents - 2
Only two players have taken a set of Jarkko. Olivier Rochus, The PYW World #3, took the first set of the Munich final before Jarkko seized the match with a scoreline of 3-6 6-0 6-3.
Jose Acasuso, the PYW World #8, also took a set of Nieminen. He snatched a tight first set in the Rome quarter final before eventually losing 5-7 6-1 6-4.
In Jarkko's 36 sets he has won every different possible set score. Here's a low down on how he's done it.
6-0 sets - 4
6-1 sets - 2
6-2 sets - 11
6-3 sets - 3
6-4 sets - 9
7-5 sets - 4
7-6 sets - 3
Jarkko has won a huge 50% of his sets to 0, 1 or 2. Only 3 times has he been taken to a tiebreak and he's won every time.
Opponents
Interestingly Nieminen has met Juan Carlos Ferrero and Dmitry Tursunov in both of his masters series final outings and Ferrero has lost to him in the semi finals twice with scores of 7-5 6-2 and 6-2 7-6.
Tursunov met with the Finn in the 3rd round of Rome and was defeated 6-2 7-5. the pair have just finished contesting the Hamburg Final where Nieminen took the match 6-4 7-5 6-4.
Super Jarkko
When Nieminen defeated Tursunov in straight sets in the Hamburg final he repeated a feat he acheived in Zagreb which is to have won a tournament without dropping a set. The only other players to have done this are Dmitry Tursunov himself and the Luxembourger Gilles Muller. Jarkko is the first to do it in a AMS.
In Nieminen's Hamburg run he won his 3rd Round, Quarter Final and Semi Final matches by the scoreline of 6-2 7-6. He defeated Stanislas Wawrinka, Mario Ancic and Juan Carlos Ferrero respectively.

Sorry Dana. I haven't done anything in PYW for a very long time.
I'm still posting and still interested but I've been very, very busy lately and unfortunately life comes first and PYW second. I'm afraid I won't have time to get really involved in PYW again until after the 27th of this month. When that time comes I will do a major update to my stats and hopefully all should be great. Until then I'm afraid I can't help (although I'll try and update scores now and then).
