Safin serves 4-5
Rusedski ties at 30-30, but Safin comes with a good net point and a big serve to save his serve. 5-5

Rusedski serves 5-5
Greg played very well with his first serve to win points. But when he needed the second, Safin hit a return winner and a passing shot with the backhand. In the last point, though, Rusedski came with a kick in his second serve to cause Safin to mis-hit it. 6-5

Safin serves to stay alive 5-6
Marat┤s attitude is not good again. He shakes his head all the time, and thought about smashing his racquet like twice already... Rusedski can play at Marat┤s serve only when its slow enough for him to chip-n-charge. If not, hes gone. Thats what happened here. 6-6 Tiebreak

Dissident

Tiebreak
The serves were untouchable untill Greg served at 2-2. He had a good second serve, but then Safin smashed his return and Rusedski tried hitting in while moving (net) minibreak Safin. And then a good serve and a perfect serve-and-volley play to go up 5-2. lol @ Safin, shouting because his return was bad... :p The next point is spectacular. Rusedski hitting volleys and Safin ended in the floor to save one ball. Greg won the point, though. Safin serves 5-4. Rusedski with a bizarre error on his sliced backhand to put it 6-4. Next, a good return to win the point in the net for Greg. minibreak back. A good serve after that, and its tied again 6-6  Great point now for Safin!!! Rusedski in the net, Safin blasting forehands and approaching the net too. He ends with a volley to the open court. Minibreak. Serves for set. :feiry: unforced error with the forehand. 7-7. Another unforced error with the forehand. Minibreak to Rusedski again, 8-7. It looks like Safin didnt want the set. Ace for Greg Rusedski, first set 7-6 (7)

HEY MARTIN BUDDY :wavey: Great to see you here! :)

Marat was about to definitely dissolve with two breakpoints against him. He saves both, but he is still too shaky. Crap attitude right now. Greg is keeping the ball in play with many low slices, irritating Safin. He holds serve with an ace, after a long battle.
Rusedski to serve 2-1

Hit, I thought it was about time I made my way over here ;) Although I've got to support a different player from you in this match ;), which definitely won't be the case for Guga's match tomorrow :p

Safin played a magical point at 15-30, diving to hit a perfect dropvolley! Ok, now build confidence from this. 15-40. Greg saves the first with a good serve. Safin fighting a lot, but Rusedski is just too good in the net. Saves second breakpoint. Another good serve and he goes up ad-40. Double fault... 40-40. Hmm, they called Greg┤s serve out... Anyway, bad return next. ad-40 again. Another bad return and he wins the game 3-1

Greg with two breakpoints again. Safin saves both in the net. In the second one, Greg had an easy shot but hit to Safin┤s body. The russian was quick enough to win it. A good serve to bring it to ad-40 and another good net play to win the game. 2-3

Safin had just one ace, against Gregs 8.
Marat also hit 30 unforced errors, while Greg had 16 (or something like that)

Great result Greg, the 1st set was massive, because if Marat had won that he would have won the match.
Hit, it sounds as though Marat handed Greg that set, that right?

Well done Greg, a much needed win :) will hopefully give him some confidence, now we need some consistency and I'm now praying that Robredo will beat Todd Martin, because Todd always beats Greg!!

Yes, Marat gave it to Greg in the tiebreak. He played some lazy points when he was serving for the set in it, and Rusedski just took the opportunity to close it himself. Very unfortunate match from the russian. Hopefully he can regroup in time for the UsOpen.

Thanks Hit, I think Marat will be able to regroup for the US Open, he always plays well there and I don't think he likes playing against Greg, I think Greg's beaten him the last 3 times they've played now.
Hopefully Marat will get himself in some good form next week to take into the US Open.

They are showing the last points from Blake-Pavel
Blake serves at 6-6 - Ace 7-6
Pavel serves - Great defensive play by Blake, but Pavel wins with an overhead. 7-7 / Ace! 8-7
Blake serves - Great forehand to force Pavel┤s error, and he pumps his fist and shouts loud happy! :D 8-8 / WOW! Blake is on fire! Great forehand crosscourt winner! 9-8
Pavel serves - Unforced error on Blakes forehand 9-9. Pavel looks tired. Crowd shouts "lets go james!" / Double fault :( 9-10
Blake serves for match 10-9 - Mis-hit on Pavel┤s backhand. Game set match James Blake.

Andrei is frustrated. He threw his racquet away after the last error.
