What are the bookies thinking?

Australia $1.30
Sri Lanka $3.55

The last 3 times Sri Lanka have played Australia at the SCG, Sri Lanka have won and in the process, Jayasuriya has posted a century each of the 3 times. That happened in game 5.

Sri Lanka love this ground and they treat it like home. If they bat first, they will win. They have the spinners to bowl Australia out on this wicket at night. And it's always hard chasing high scores at the SCG under lights.

I'm not playing the win yet - it will go down to who wins the toss. If Sri Lanka win the toss and bat, I'll put an in-play bet on them to win. But having Sri Lanka at that price is a risk for the bookies.

The only bets I'm playing are:

Sri Lankan High Bat

Sanath Jayasuriya @ $5.00

Marvan Attapatu to score more runs than Simon Katich @ $2.05

Good luck!

For some strange reason im agreeing with Bolar, its gonna be a tough game for Aussies n like Bolar said who ever bats first i feel will win this match aswell, especially when the spinners are getting on top!!!!Enjoy the game

Australia won the toss and decided to bat.

Vaas got Gilchrist for a second ball duck. And who caught the ball?

One guess!

Dilshan - Excellent catch too.

How I wish I took those odds.

Australia 3/10 after 3 overs.

Vaas has all 3 wickets.

Gilchrist, Katich and Martyn all gone.

Sri Lanka to win @ $2.10 - In-play

Get them whilst you can.

Australia will probably bounce back though and Sri Lanka's odds will be better, but I'm taking this now incase Sri Lanka keep this up.

A bit of controversy with respect to the Ricky Ponting catch/non catch

IMO it was hard to say whether the ball bounced first or he got it on his fingertips

3/186 after 32 overs

ponting and symonds are putting them to the sword now

Yeah - the Sri Lankan players seemed confident and they would have had best views - but the umpires made the right decision because that would have been hard to give out.

Murali 0/99 (10)

That tells you something about the pitch.

If this pitch is still a road tonight, we have a game on our hands - at least a run feast. Australia's bowling is weak without McGrath and Sri Lanka love the SCG.

Sri Lanka won't win but they will get close to this target.

Jayawardene wicket is the nail in the coffin.

Sri Lanka looked good early. I've gotta say, when it comes to cricket, i'm not very patriotic. I'm happy to see the series is going to a third match though! :woohoo:

Batting first on Tuesday will be a must for them. Although, if they bowl first, Vaas and the other fast bowlers can get something out of the pitch, but it won't leave much for the spinners. And if they bowl first, they won't have to face the fresh Aussie bowlers on that wicket in the afternoon.

Having Australia at 3/10 and allowing them to score 369 can't be good for the sri lankan players' confidence going into the decider

Anything but an Australian victory would be a huge shock, regardless of the coin toss.

That's true BG

However, if they watch the performance from Friday night, they'll be confident!

They'll treat Tuesday's match the way they went into Friday's. Knowing their underdogs and no-one expecting them to win and going out there and having fun. Whether they win or lose, they won't give a crap. They've surprised themselves and the Australian public and the world how well they have played this tournament considering their lead up form which I must say was very very poor.

They'll go out of this tour on high confidence even if they're flogged on Tuesday.

Australia should win on Tuesday - but by how much and how convincing, that's up to the Sri Lankan's attitude.

Personally IMO,i actually thought it was a catch then looked at it again n felt that it did hit the ground n yes it wouldve been hard to give out either way to be honest!!!2morro should be a ripper of a game n the chasing isnt going to be easy there if the Aussies win the toss its all over red rover, but if Sri Lanka won then it should be one hell of a game!!!

I was thinking Sri Lanka should utilise their quicks on the Aussie pitch and not let Australia get the best out of the pitch with their quicks and Sri Lanka to field first.

But I dunno what the pitch is like.

If it wasn't going to favour the fast bowlers at night, I personally would field first to utilise my fast bowlers and stop the oppositions fast bowlers from being effective at night. Facing Lee and co on a bowlers friendly track - take them out of the game by fielding first. But that's only if the pitch isn't going to do much for the fast bowlers at night compared to the afternoon.

Ok. This makes about as much sense as Guillermo Coria speaking english.

Sri Lanka aren't very good at this sport, they should find another.
