It's a new chapter in Chucho's career which certainly deserves a thread of its own. I hope this experience will kick off with a good performance. There should be a lot of confidence in his game after what he did in Vina del Mar.

Once again, congrats on the nomination. Keep it cool like you did in Vina

So get'em tiger and show the Swedes what clay is about.

13:00 | COPA DAVIS . words from Chucho

Briefly he said he is very happy because Mancini called, he was waiting for his call...he think he is at his best moment and he will fight till the last moment on cour to bring a point to Argentina. Chucho said he considers this as a prize for his hard work. Also said that Suecia has 2 great players (Johansson and Soderling) but they prefer hard courts, so Argentina has really chances.
In the article is said that maybe Mancini will consider Chucho even for doubles on Saturday.

I'm quite anxious before the rubber. If anyone knows something about a web stream, please let me know.

Good luck to Argentina and Chucho. I'm so glad he finally got his chance. Playing for his country in front of the BA public might be the right thing at the right time.

In Olé Deprotivo they are making this joke with the words: "Chucho chocho", the second word means to us "very happy with something"....well, he is chocho because Mancini called him and now he will play second single on Frdiay...this is what the paper said about Mancini takin the decision

Decisive practice: Yesterday, in the morning practice, Acasuso and Chela played some games each other. Both were very concentrated but Chucho was more inpsired. A delicious backhand, a killer serve and very good approaches to the net were the reasons that made Mancini pick up Acasuso in the clay of Parque Roca"

they also said that Mancini knows him very well, because both started to play in the red earth of Misiones (that is a characteristic of the earth in the roads of Misiones: it is more or less red like the clay on a court) :)

another joke in Ole: "Chucho, go to play without chucho", in the last use, "chucho" means "fear"....it is a joke because :) they said he looks pretty much secure and strong!

They are interviewing (whispering  ) Maradona, who is in the stadium, they asked him if he knew Chucho. He said that he does and that José is a good football player, left-footed  (does this word exist? :p )
off topic: apparently Maradona had a car crash this morning and now he is in Parque Roca :cuckoo:
BTW, I said it in the pics thread, but José was the Arg. flagman in the ceremony :yeah:

Yes - the term left-footed is very often used here to describe a footballer that favours his left foot for striking the ball. Thanks for the news.

well that was a statement and a half by the big man

with that performance he might have booked himself a spot in the team for the rest of the year, even as a role player when GG returns

Actually Shotgun Blues and myself were saying about this and Chucho is a viable option for the indoor ties especially.

He let some people know who he is.

They are interviewing him... and he has got the Rosamonte (http://store.amigofoods.com/royemapr.html) logo everywhere.
He is not really saying nothing he didn´t say previously, BTW. But he said he started playing with his left hand tennis and as the racket was getting heavier his first tennis professor teached him to play with the right. He said he is naturally more "leftist". ;)
About yesterday´s match he said it was incredible hearing the crowd cheering for him and hearing his name. He was focused in the match, but for a moment he got the "goose pimples" (it is said like this, right?) :)

Effka

^Thanks for that, i always wanted to know why he plays with his right hand as a natural lefty. You know what'd be cool? If he could play his bh ddl on both sides of the court  I know it's probably impossible because of the grip, but just imagine  ;)

replying here to whenstarsfall..."Now since Argentina won their tie, will they still have the reverse singles or will they have players fill in for Nalbandian and Acasuso?"

sorry i am late to reply (Lau sent us to this thread): well, for sure, you have seen that Chela and Acasuso played the last points and they won easily in 2 sets both matches! so Argentina finishes 5-0 :) A really good win of Chucho over Bjorman 6-0,6-1

now we are ready to watch ATP Buenos Aires this week...

Yeah, I checked the DC site but there must be a typo because for the last rubber, they had Gaudio down instead of Acasuso. So naturally I was puzzled at first when I saw the pics of Acasuso playing Bjorkman.
