Attack In Argentina - Turn Up The Heat!

Team Massu Attacks in Argentina!!!! (Kind of appropriate since his coach and fitness coach are Argentines!).

I know its 2 weeks away, but I've always loved this tournament because Nico won his first title here so can't wait!

And now that Nico has some confidence back, I'd love to see him turn up the heat on court - starting with the 2nd set against Fernando, he really attacked and was aggressive - and he won. But against Jose, he was more defensive - I wanted him to attack more.

So hopefully in Buenos Aires, he'll be on the offensive again. Just my humble opinion, but I've always thought he does better when he's more aggressive.

BUENA SUERTE NICO IN BUENOS AIRES!

Have fun in your home away from home.

And FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT! :boxing:

If he pulls Coria, Chela, or Acasuso in the draw though, I may change this to "Revenge on the Rio de la Plata".

Revenge on Coria for the US Open.

Revenge on Chela for Madrid.

And revenge on Acasuso for Vina.

;)

Nico might not play in Argentina for the pain in his abductor

kidnicky
02-12-2006, 09:13 PM
It's a difficult draw and if Nico plays well he could do some damage here, but actually I'd preffer that he wouldn't play, he needs some rest after the past 2 weeks, he didn't rest at all after Viña's final so he definetely needs to rest now.

Besides I don't want him hurt again, not after the year that we had in 2005, and NicoFan and Sparko, both of you will know that if he couldn't play the next tournaments I'd definetely jump from the balcony :bigcry:

VAMOS NICO!!!! Take some rest and then kick butt!!!!

NicoFan
02-12-2006, 09:22 PM
Don't worry Kid - he'll only take this week off - its a muscle pull in his left leg - 3-4 days rest and he'll be fine. Like Sparko said - he doesn't want to make it worse - if he plays, he could risk another injury. And nobody wants that.

From latercera.cl:

Nicolas Massú did not go calm from Rancagua toward Buenos Aires, after assuring the series before Slovakia. Since the match against Dominik Hrbaty felt inconveniences in the aductor right, for which in some moment put in doubt its participation in the ATP of the capital Argentina, that left yesterday.

Already al another side of the Andes the "Vampire" was submitted to medical exams to observe the magnitude of the pain and then coached in the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis, where verified that the physical problems did not affect their play. Although it wanted to expect to the last practice of yesterday or until today in the morning to decide his participation in the tournament that distributes US$ 425 thousand in prizes, the physical coach of the viñamarino, Horacio Anselmi, commented last night that "we evaluate him and we did him some studies that turned out to be favorable. From Radio Cooperativa.cl:

Massú: "I am seeking the road that carry me to play better"

After beating him with plenty of difficulties at Brazilian Marcos Daniel in Buenos Aires, the viñamarino said that its great task is to recover the necessary regularity to take up again the level that carried it to be top ten.

The triumph in the first round of the ATP of Buenos Aires on the Brazilian Marcos Daniel (91º of the world) did not leave totally satisfied al Chilean Nicolas Massú (54º), who indicated that its great task currently is to bury the irregularity.

"Logically that last year was difficult by the injuries, was nine of the world and last week was 60, but I am better and seeking the road that carry me to play better. It is a question of confidence, the one that have gone added in Vina del Mar and al to beat him to Hrbaty in Cup Davis. It is a long work", said Massú in the press conference after its victory on Daniel.

On its premiere in Buenos Aires, where won for 6-3, 5-7 and 6-1, Massú indicated: "One failure two or three balls and you feel with less forces... I know that I played more aggressive in the third one set and give you account that I hit him well of right. He was more tired and I left to seek the match doing the shortest points, I broke I propagate I had to do it not as in the set second"

"I played deeper, attack more, and more near the lines. I hope tomorrow can begin and to finish of the same form... not to have a fall as I had it with Daniel in the second set", added.

On its possible match in second round before Carlos Moyá (34º), if Spanish defeats al Fabio Fognini (312º), Massú said: "Never I have played with him in clay and both we are with again large desires to do things".

The Davis Cup continues being theme for the viñamarino, who emphasized the achievement of becoming in quarterfinals of the World Group, but regretted that the weight of the matches fall on him and Fernando González.

"The 50 percent is for Fernando and the other 50 for me, but I would love to have a third player that be better... the one that there is is youth and experience lacks him still (Paul Capdeville). I hope we had it because me or Fernando we can get injured", said. (Cooperative.cl)

Very proud of how well Nico played last night.

Great effort!

And as usual nice words from him on his opponent - said that Carlos played the important points better.

From latercera.cl:

It was to suppose that Nicolas Massú would finish in agreement with its action in the tournament ATP of Buenos Aires, because in spite of losing before Carlos Moyá (6-4, 3-6 and 7-6 (4)), complied an excellent assignment, showing a solid tennis, running each ball with a notable rapidity and fighting to the end of the match.

Although the Chilean said that itself he cannot agree when he is lost, its participation leaves him calm. In statements to Cooperative Radio, Massú said that "I agree that I delivered all and of that I played well from time to time and almost all the match. I believe that the 95 percent of the match I played it well, but one never goes in agreement when loses, is very difficult".

The viñamarino recognized that could have done more, but also gave merits to his rival. "Would be able to have won, but he played well in the important moments. When the thing was very couple played his better tennis, and was defined in the tie break", commented.

The tennis player number two of Chile, does not know still if will travel to Brazil to participate in the tournament of Coast of Sauípe. "Now I am going to evaluate it with my coaches. I want to go, but one must think it well and to see if agrees me to go or not", said Massú knowing that its physicist is a little affected after three exacting weeks.

Nevertheless, the "Nico" also he has his head put in the challenge by Cup Davis before United States and he declared that "lack a lot still for that but we are happy. He is going to be hard, but when you are in the quarterfinals of the Davis Cup cannot expect that a good picture touch you, only perhaps to expect to be localities, but touches us there and we are going to expect what court they put us. If they choose grass is going to be more complicated, but if is hardcourts they know that we have enough chances".

From Radio Cooperativa:

The viñamarino withdrew of Buenos Aires calm by his action in the loss before Spanish former number one of the world, although clarified that never can agree himself when is lost.

With feelings found said goodbye to the ATP of Buenos Aires the Chilean tennis player Nicolas Massú (54º), since despite agree not after its loss for 6-4, 3-6 and 6-7 (4) front al Spanish Carlos Moyá (34º) yes emphasized the good level that showed before a recognized player, former number one of the world.

In dialogue with Radio Cooperativa in Buenos Aires, the viñamarino emphasized its to drive on the clay Argentina although regretted that in the key points the Spaniard knew to define better for finally be remained with the victory.

"I agree that I delivered all and of that I played well from time to time and almost all the party. I believe that the 95 percent of the match I played it well, but one never goes in agreement when loses, is very difficult", indicated the pupilo of Gabriel Markus, who continues advancing in its recovery tenística.

"Would be able to have earned, but he played well in the important moments. When the thing was very couple played its better tennis, and was defined in the tie break", added.

Massú clarified that this Thursday will define next to its coach if is that travels or not to Brazil to form part of the tournament Costa del Sauípe, where will seek to continue finding "revenges" after a 2005 marked by the injuries and evil performance.

"Now I am going to evaluate it with my coaches. I want to go, but one must think it well and to see if agrees me to go or not", indicated the number two of Chile, who has maintained three weeks of great intensity that have passed him the account in the physical thing.

"Thus is the tennis and this has always revenges. After the end of Vinacame the Davis Cup, and now my revenge is going to be in Brazil or in Acapulco", commented.

Although it lacks more than one month for the commitment before United States by Cup Davis, the viñamarino -al the same as the remainder of the Chilean team- not to stops thinking in the challenge by the step to semifinals of the World Group, and by the quick thing only expects that the surface on the part of the Americans be defined.

"Lack a lot still for that but we are happy. It is going to be hard, but when you are in rooms of end of the Cup Davis cannot expect that a good picture touch you, only perhaps to expect to be localities, but touches us there and we are going to expect what court they put us. If they choose grass is going to be more complicated, but if is hardcourt they know that we have enough chances", concluded. (Cooperative.cl)

Thanks for the articles NicoFan!! is good to read on the chilean papers, that he played well :yeah:

p.s. And if Nico wants to droop off from Brasil is fine by me!!! he needs the rest and he needs to be okay for the next tournament, so Nico please, you could put in doubt Brasil but not not not Acapulco :p (I freacked out reading that he mentioned Acapulco ha ha)

I saw that too Kid about Acapulco! He'll be there - don't you worry! He knows that these tournaments are where he does best - which is why I highly doubt he won't play Brasil either - I think for Nico since clay is his best, there's usually no rest until after the French.
