Tarpischev said, that Davydenko and Tursunov will play singles (not for shure, but 90%). And as for doubles I have no ideas  I hope, Igor and Mitya ;)

whether will Dima feel pressured then :p if it proves to be that, wish him gives us a beatiful performance which i think he can

as for the doubles, where is Misha if your hope is right  I still not want Igor to play doubles with Dima which would fade me again :p

I don't understand why Netherlands didn't choose to play on grass instead of carpet. Besides Tursunov, the other Russian players aren't exactly grass demons. Netherlands, on the other hand, has players used to this surface as Wessels and Sluiter. They could play in St. Hertogenbosch.

Choosing carpet was a shoot in their own feet.

You're not right! Igor plays on grass very good, even better than Tursunov!
So it wouldn't help a lot to Netherlands. :p Though our leader Davydenko doesn't play good on grass, that's true, and there'd be some problems to him, I guess...

OK, both Andreev and Youzhny can play reasonably on grass, but still it would definitely cause some trouble for the captain. I mean, Netherlands would certainly have more chances on grass.

Yeah, that's true... I think, every country has more chances, playing against Russia on grass. We're not the "on grass-playing" team(((

Grass would give the Dutch more chances i agree, and i doubt too why not have a try but i can understand they must have made a serious decision after discussions :p

But it doesnt mean that they would own the overwhelming advantages if that. yea, we can clearly see Davy's records on grass which is bad in comparison with his good place, while maybe we have to believe that he would still beat some guys on grass, sorry, i cant give out convinced clues, such as Marat, even himself said he hated grass but who could expect his Halle final last year before it happened ;) as for Dmitry and Igor, of course they can beat many guys even top ones. the doubles would be very tough i think.

anyway, just some easy comments, we need to key on the carpet :)

St. Hertogenbosch has outdoors courts as far as I remember.
And it's rather cold now to play outdoors :)
I wonder if there are any indoor grass courts at all (certified to play DC).

So we have very good chances to defeat Dutches.

Russian have a good chance to win this rubber. Even if the Netherlands chose grass the would have a hard time pulling it off.

Raemon Sluiter is the Dutch #1 in the team. No need to argue! :yeah:
Other singles player is either Peter Wessels or Melle van Gemerden. I think it will be Wessels. :)
Doublesteam is probably Peter Wessels / John van Lottum, but that could change if Wessels has to play a tiring 5-setter tomorrow.

The draw is this afternoon!

Damn!! :( :fiery:

News just arrived that Peter Wessels is out of the Davis Cup. An MRI-scan revealed the tear in a chest muscle is still there. He got this injury in the Hopmap Cup finals last month. (And it was also the reason he lost in the first qualifying round at the AO.) Apparantely it's still troubling him... get well soon Peter!!

Wessels is replaced by 20 year old Jesse Huta Galung...

The second singles is almost certainly played by Melle van Gemerden now.
