a slightly amusing commentary of his match against Nishikori :

In the boys’ tournament Alexandre Sidorenko moved through to his first junior grand slam semifinal, courtesy of a well-timed rain delay. Sidorenko, from France, was 2-5 down against Japan’s Kei Nishikori of Japan when the heavens opened. When play resumed, indoors, it was Sidorenko who seized the initiative, eventually winning 46 63 62.

“It wasn’t my day and then the rain helped me. I wasn’t in the match. During the break I spoke to my coach and he just told me to start moving because then my game would come and he was right - I started playing much better,” said Sidorenko. “Yesterday I had a day off and went to the zoo because I’ve never been to Australia before and I wanted to see koalas and kangaroos because you can’t see them in France. I think maybe I had too much time away from tennis and I lost my rhythm.”

Sidorenko admitted that it wasn’t the first time he had benefited from a rain delay – he fought from 1-5 down in the final set on the only previous occasion where the weather had intervened. “I ‘m very lucky with rain delays, every time I get one I am losing and I got and win the match,” he said. “I think I would do well at Wimbledon – it’s my tournament!”

01-27-2006, 03:23 PM
:haha: at the comment about koalas and kangaroos. Good luck to him in the SFs. :yeah:

01-27-2006, 03:38 PM

01-29-2006, 06:47 AM
He won! :woohoo:

01-29-2006, 07:07 AM
Funny guy. :rolls:

“It’s a bit of a tradition for French players to play well in Australia and I want to keep it going,” said Sidorenko. “I feel very proud to have a chance to join them. I played a final last week at the warm-up tournament at Nottinghill and I was a little nervous, so I hope to learn from that. I have to take the final like it’s a first or a second round match. I have to try to play my game and see what happens.”

For the second day in succession Melbourne Park was hit by a deluge which forced junior singles matches onto the indoor courts but Sidorenko didn’t seem to mind, in fact he said he was delighted to find himself back inside. “Once again I’m very happy about the rain helping me again. I wasn’t playing well in the first set, I was losing in my match and then it rained and we stopped, then we went indoors and I played better,” said Sidorenko. “I will be watching the weather forecast tonight because I hope it rains tomorrow. It’s become like a talisman for me. Maybe I’ll do a rain dance like a Red Indian! If it rains again I might think it’s my destiny to win.”

Article written after the final ;)

Both players were presented with their trophies on court and, in what’s become a tradition for all finalists at the Australian Open, received a cuddly kangaroo as a memento of their success in Melbourne.

“He will be my best friend,” said Sidorenko, with a grin. “Maybe he will be my talisman now.”

01-29-2006, 04:06 PM
There are vidéos of him (interview and a bit of him playing...) in the pages opened by the FFT dedicated to the previous French Junior Championships (Championnats de France Perrier) since he won them quite a few times and they always make a subject/focus on all the winners...;)

02-12-2006, 04:36 AM

Thanks, Mag!

It seems that he isn't playing Wimby qualies. I've no idea where he has been playing after losing at RG. :o

06-19-2006, 10:26 AM
Well, that's strange he doesn't play Wimby qualies...
Maybe he will play the Junior Wimbledon?

06-21-2006, 02:33 PM
he's playing a future (http://www.aajbtennis.com/18.html) in France on clay, according to his itf profil (http://www.itftennis.com/mens/players/activity.asp?player=100036139)

07-05-2006, 06:21 PM
But still, I thought he was pretty competent in doubles. :o

09-11-2006, 10:57 PM

Great result !
It was the first time I saw him playing and I was impressed !! :worship:

10-21-2006, 06:37 PM
How did he play? Can we have a small match report (in French if you prefer :p )? Did you watch Eysseric too? :D

10-21-2006, 06:58 PM
I'm going to try in english but...
Sidorenko played immediately very well ! Sitak couldn't make anything.
(I'm going to the tournament tomorrow, so I'll be able to say more about them :) )

10-21-2006, 07:07 PM

10-22-2006, 11:32 AM

Jerome Haehnel FRA/Alexandre Sidorenko FRA vs. Marcel Granollers-Pujol ESP/Feliciano Lopez ESP

Maybe he begged her? Or maybe she doesn't care that much about mixed doubles?

So far his match has been stopped 3 times because of the  :fiery: :( rain and now it is 3-6, 4-3, 30-30*...

They both have a hard time holding serve.

05-28-2007, 11:19 PM
I disagree. Alex is having a much harder time holding serve than his opponent. He saved 14/17 BPs (vs 1/3 for Eschauer) though. Good fighting. :yeah:

05-29-2007, 02:52 PM
I was talking about the 2nd set silver. 6-3 3-6 6-3 5-4 Ret. :awww:

He should have played till the end and let Eschauer win if it wasn't really serious.

05-29-2007, 03:15 PM
Yeah :(

05-29-2007, 03:17 PM
I hadn't realized there was a thread on this in GM :tape:

Alex :o / Injury :o

05-30-2007, 10:50 AM
He hit the chair of the line judge on the point before the MP and injured his ankle, according to L'Équipe. Of course the journalists told him he could have played that last point, he answers he doesn't care about what other people think...

What was he thinking, really? I thought it was some freaky injury when I saw the scoreboard yesterday, like Pierce or PHM rolling around on the ground in pain...

06-01-2007, 05:46 PM
Loit and Alex lost 6-4 5-7 1-0(7) to Marc Gicquel and Séverine Brémond. :tape:

I don't know what happened during these first mounths
Last week Sacha played a tournament in France. He reached the final where he lost to Devilder in 3 sets, though a day earlier he managed to beat Patience who was the first seeded. He sounded positive and, it seems, have fully recovered from his injuries. I have a scan of a short article about him, if someone is interested I can try to post it here.

03-23-2008, 02:58 PM
I'm interessed ;)

But I don't see what tournament you are talking about !? :s ( last week he played in Egypt and before it was qualifications of Besancon .. )

03-23-2008, 06:22 PM
But Besançon was quite a while ago, isn't it? ;)

It was a CNGT tournament in Valenciennes. He was 8th seeded so he didn't need to qualify and played only main draw matches (March 14-16th). You can check the draw itself here (http://www.fft.fr/FFT/pdf_n/cngt_pdf2008/valenciennes_M08.pdf).

Good that he is so confident and has high ambitions.

03-24-2008, 02:18 PM
Thank you very much
I 've never heard of it beafore so thanks

Where wan be find the CNGT tournaments on the net ?

I believe this tournament gave him confident, the results are here ( Cairo )

03-25-2008, 07:57 PM
You're welcome. You can find all the info (not so much though  ) on CNGT tournaments on the FFT page: http://www.fft.fr/cms-fft/?id=1389.
By the way, check your PMs, there is something in there for you ;)

Since nobody told it.Alexandre is spending his off season preparation organized by the fft in Saint Cyprien(south of France) with others players such as tsonga,simon,chardy,serra...

Can be good for him like it was for jo and gilles who reached the top10 now.
Alexandre had many injuries like Jo so he can learn from him.

Good luck to him in 2009.:)

Wow, he reached the quarters of an atp tournament for the first time, beat an almost top 50 player, almost beat a top 50, and all that with his eyes closed? He is truly a phenomenon!

05-03-2010, 12:20 PM
He qualifies for Munich! It seems that the German air does wonders for his game :rolls:

05-07-2010, 06:26 PM
I saw him in qualies in Munich, he was playing pretty well, I was expecting him to do better against Hajek. His match against Kindlmann was my favourite match of the qualies.
Ascione and Robert were watching and cheering hard for him.
Who is his coach? Another face I couldn't put a name to anymore. He's the one who gave me the information about Devilder (the man sitting next to Ascione in my pic). He seems to work hard, he was on the practice courts again immediately after his last qualies match.

Alex left FFT under one month, i remember that Llodra began to work with Remy Barbarrin because Laurent Raymond was working with Sidorenko also so what's happen with Raymond he coaches again Ouanna & Recouderc with Potier ? Anyway the new coach of Alex is Didier Lanne who have a blog where he writes everything  http://www.didierlanne.com/ He wil play Madrid qualies.

05-07-2010, 07:48 PM
Thanks! I knew he was familiar, but I just couldn't remember where I had seen him.
I hadn't seen all the last entries, it's impressive indeed!

05-08-2010, 02:33 AM
Madrid qualies? Wow. That's ambitious.
