Tennis Tipping #2 - Zagreb

http://www.atptennis.com/en/graphics/tournamentlogos/2276.jpg

Welcome to Tennis Tipping Zagreb!

What is Tennis Tipping?

In the game, participants pick the winners of all main draw matches and are placed in a knock-out system. That means each participant plays a different participants and whoever predicted the winner of most matches correctly, moves on to the next round.

The Number Of Participants Per Round:

R32 - 16 Players
R16 - 8 Players
QF - 4 Players
SF + F - 2 Players

Note:

- In case of a tie, a tie-breaker match for which the score (as opposed to just the winner) is given, will decide who moves on to the next round. For all participants, this tie-breaker match is the same and will be assigned beforehand.
- In case a player (i.e. the actual ATP Player) retires in a match, this match will be cancelled and not taken into consideration when calculating the number of correct picks. If players are replaced by a lucky loser after the start of Tennis Tipping, these matches will also be cancelled.

How to Sign-Up:

Just post here that you would like to play. :)
You can only play one tournament per week.
You must commit before the designated time. For this tournament, that time is 9:00PM Sunday in Melbourne.
For help with timezones, use this - www.timeanddate.com/worldclock.

Maximum Players for this tournament: 16

Currently, entries into a tournament are based on a first-come, first-in basis. If the maximum spots for this tournament are filled, you have two options:

1. Join another tournament with less entries.
2. Become an alternate, where you send in your first round tips the same as everyone else, and will replace a participant in the MTF Main Draw who does not send in thier tips.

How to send in picks:

Picks can be sent in as soon as all qualifiers have been placed. Remember, you pick a winner in every match! Picks should be sent by PM, so that your opponent does not know your picks. Picks should be titled: TT: [tournament, day # or round]. Picks can be sent in anytime until the beginning of play each day. Because of the chances of 1st and 2nd Round matches being played on the same day, you have the option of sending in your tips by the round or by the day. No changes can be made.

NEW RULE: There are a certain number of participants who forget to send in their tips some rounds. So each round, the top 4 ranked losers will be alternates, where they send in their tips, and replace another player who didn't send in his/her tips for the round. That way, there's no walkovers.

Good Luck! :wavey:

OK, for this tourny, it will be different to the Australian Open. You' have a choice to either send in your tips daily (like suicide tennis) or send them in by round, because sometimes 1st and 2nd round matches are played on the same day. Whatever suits the tournament format. Send them in even if you don't know whether you've made the second round or not.

Hmmm that's interesting because there aren't any previous rounds to look back on? I suppose if the ranking points had gone into effect from the AO competition, that it would go by ranking then?

*edit*

I just looked at the AO thread, and we both lost in the third round. :rolls: So that doesn't even help decide because our ranking points would have been the same.

The chances of it happening in future will be really small, as more tournaments are played and there are more ranking points.

Since you haven't sent in your remaining Round 1 tips, you could send in a tie-break score for: Lopez v. Soderling

I don't know if that's entirely fair though... since we've been given the option to do it day by day rather than an entire round at once, I have been doing mine day by day so that I don't miss matches when the rounds start to overlap like will happen tomorrow... so if Labamba decided to send theirs in the first day before qualifiers were placed, and I waited to see who the qualifiers were first... I don't think that's really a fair way to do it.

But since we're not tied at the moment, hopefully it will stay that way.

Can't I send them later (in the morning), it's getting late here in Finland and I'm going to bed.
Whatever suit you (as long as you get them in before the start of play ;) ) :yeah:

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I always get the toughest opponents in the 1st Round...In australia bolar and now el_guero..
I don't believe that I've got chance with 4 match remaining so congrats el_guero :)
It ain't over till it's over... those 1st round matches still left to play were the hardest to pick!! :scared:

Besides, a tie is good enough for you, as I failed to send in a TB score... :o

This can happen in the future too, so it's good to think ahead and be ready for everything imo.

I got all 4 of the remaining first round matches correct today so I assume I am moving through  tough first round match :) If you would have played almost anyone else you would have gotten through.

You made some impressive picks! :hatoff:

I had to gamble today, so I took a chance on Zib and Soders even if I thought they would probably lose. I feel you're one of the favourites for the title now. GL ;)

BTW, is there no tiebreaker for the second round? I just realized it now as I was looking back over the second round match ups... there isn't one highlighted in red for us to predict, and as always, I'm being cautious about the possibility of a tie :p

Oh REALLY.

I probably should be, I think my picks are crap. I should have gone with my instincts instead of my head.

I mean... I picked Stepanek. :retard: (What WAS I thinking?) and I wanted to pick Bozoljac too but I just figured it was the end of the line for my boys.

In other words, I don't think I have any right yet this round :rolls: Because I also had Gasquet and Wawrinka. Hahahahahaha. You might bagel me :p

:rolls: I really don't think I am getting a single match right this round. After doing so well the last round. My best case scenario would be me getting 2 correct... so if you can beat that.... lol.

So Seppi won.. that figures. :o

Yeah, the TB... that's kind of unfair, as DeccyB123 forgot to mark the TB match until the last minute...

Anyway, I don't know what happens, I didn't even give a set for Karlovic..

Considering how little time I gave you to get the tie-break in, 2 of the tie-break matches will be by countback. The third will use the tie-break score, as both players got that in! Congrats to those who advanced! :bounce:

And to think, el guero was so close to not even getting into the main draw of this tournament. ;)
