Roger Federer $1.09 - Tommy Haas $7.50
Nickolay Davydenko $1.45 - Dominik Hrbaty $2.75

Vaidisova and Schiavone are great value.

Grosjean and Davydenko with Hingis will be a good parlay.

Haas is good value and I'm definately on him.

Will finalise everything later.

There is some money to win tomorrow.

Well...hopefully I won't jinx myself this time...but Grosjean stands out as a solid single @ 1.40.

Haas @ 7.50 is worth some coins. ;)

Will finalise plays later, but I think those will the only ones for me today.

Davydenko is still shaky and Dom might have enough energy to win that one.
Still not sure about Kiefer's injury...maybe he might beat Chela...not sure.

Just taken Haas @ 7.50 (tiny stake).

What with the Baghdatis result in particular last night, I felt that the odds might shorten for Haas over the next 12 hours.

Round 4: Monday, January 23, 2006

Nicolas Kiefer -144 over Juan Ignacio Chela ($288 to win $200)

At this point in the tournament, the determining factors to a match start to change and you have to take into consideration some new things. The battles are going to be tougher therefore we look at long-match experience. Apart from Chela's four-setter with Lleyton Hewitt, the Argentinian has completed his match in three sets and has not been tested in a marathon match. I have been backing him since Day 1 in this tournament (2 for 2 with Chela in the Aussie Open) but it's time to bid him farewell. Since both men have been pretty even in this tournament, I searched a little deeper and found that since the start of 2005, Nicolas Kiefer is 9-3 in matches that go four or five sets. On the other hand, Chela is 1-4 in four set matches since the start of 2005 and 0-8 in five set matches in his career. I also like the fact that Kiefer has been a quarter-finalist here twice and once at the USOpen (which tells me he is more suited for the hard surface). Meanwhile, Chela has never made it past the 4th Round of a hardcourt Grand Slam. Also take into consideration that Chela has been playing doubles, while Kiefer has been resting. In his win over Vliegen, Chela had only 19 winners (ouch) and seems to have won quite easily (as predicted). Well Kiefer is a fighter and although he made quite a few unforced errors against JCF, the level of opponents was different. Kiefer's first serve was better than Chela's and the intensity levels are different here. Give me Kiefer to make QF's.

Kiefer x Grosjean @ +172 - $500 to win $860

I'll start with Kiefer, he's in great form. Confidence isn't an issue at all with an easy dismantling of Ferrero. His strokes looked really sharp against Ferrero and I think he has a good idea of what Chela is going to bring to the table, Chela's had a good run thus far, but all his opponents aside from Vliegen have been off form. Kiefer should be motivated to make it through, so I have confidence in the German, as he's cashed in big for me before. Onto Grosjean, Mathieu has a history of choking, no doubt. I really can't see Paul Henri Mathieu making it to the quarters on a slam besides for Roland Garros. Although he's pretty good on hard, his best surface is clay despite what many may think. Grosjean on the other hand, knows plenty about these stages of slam, making the semifinals of this tournament before and being in several other slam quarterfinals and semifinals. Add to the fact that Bogomolov Jr., Horna, and Clement are hardly weak oppositon compared to Phillipoussis, Monaco, and Coria that Grosjean had to beat. Hopefully all goes well on this one.

Schiavone over Clijsters @ +330 - $300 to win $990

The crafty Italian has been playing well and I've heard the Clijsters has been injured has been having limited mobility. Schiavone is also coming off a double bagel victory over Maria Sanchez Lorenzo in the third round, so she's got to be glowing with confidence. This is risky, but I can't pass it up.

Haas over Federer @ +1000 - $200 to win $2000
The small risk is worth the reward here.

Considering: Davy @1.439 depending on how first set of Kiefer goes

2 points there:

1. Kiefer is a grinder and I wouldn't read too much into the first set which he could well lose. He wins a lot of matches from behind.

2. If Santoro can come out and win the next day when he is supposedly "knackered" then Dom could do the same. I'll analysise the two players' form coming into this match, but unless Davydenko has significantly better stats than Hrbaty, I won't be touching it. I doubt this will be the case. ;)

Recap on yesterday, just won on Baghdatis small and won a bit on ljubicic when i found out they were playng the match under the roof. Whether the roof is used or not in the ljubicic and bagman match is going to be the sole decider as to who i back for tomorrow.

On to today, i like the following:

Chela to beat Kiefer - $2.30

Grosjean to beat Mathieu - $1.50 (big play)

I would have hammered Donkey but the odds are too low.

Womens I like Vaidisova and Myskina as dogs, and Schiavone on the HC is a great bet, she is extremely underrated and is playing the best tennis of her career. Still will decide as to whether I will play any of them...

She might get a set of her if the corwd goes sick, which it will :)

More value in Hingis 2-1 then a Stosur win IMO,Samantha doesnt look too confident facing Hingis in her interview, her last game was alot of UE's where you know Martina will make you pay!!!!

Its not better cos the odds are too low,but she should still win on form :)
Good luck to you,but no play here cos i will be rooting for Samantha to win!!!

Value is Hingis 2-1,maybe Sam can win the first set cos if she goes down in the first,Hingis wont be giving her breathing space, too professional to let the crowd in,but then again its not like the Hingis of old but not far off :) better odds n matches 2morro for sure then this one!!!

What do you think about that matchup at u18 1/2 games @ 1.80 or Hingis -6 @1.909.

Looking at stosurs stats she's been winning with about -10 differential between winners and ue's. In stosur's last match she made over 30 ue's. Against hingis she would get crushed! Hingis on the otherhand is usually +2 or so. I think this match is going to go by pretty fast like 6-2, 6-3 type score but are those types of bets suckers bets? I've been having pretty good luck playing the under games bets on wta matches since most end pretty fast.

-6 is probably better bet then u18 1/2 right? Because in order for the game to be u18 1/2 would mean hingis has to win 6-2, 6-3 type score.. But if it goes 3 sets you'er out of the bet. However if it goes 3 sets u still have a chance at -6, and -6 still wins u at 6-2, 6-3?

Stosur won't even win a set. She'll be flogged. She almost choked the other night - well she did choke but she hung on and she'll definately choke tonight being on centre court at night on prime time tv, carrying the weight of a nation. She won't handle the pressure. It would have been better if the match was on during the day and not on centre court.

Value is with Federer tonight.

He has beaten Haas 3 times and those 3 times have been in Australia. One was an exhibition match, the others were in 2000 and 2002 and from what I can tell from Haas, he's playing better than what he was in 2002. If he isn't there yet, he'll show it tonight.

Federer won't be used to 5 set matches because he is used to thrashing opponents, I can tell you that if this gets to 5, which it will, Haas will prevail.

Haas in 5 tonight.

Pound it and pound it hard.

LETS GO HAAS

U actually placing a bet haas in 5? Or a moneyline haas to beat fed?

I got a tiny wager on haas @ 9.0 and a mid wager for "Not federer 3-0 @2.450" which I think is the best value!

But I'm so tempted to take Hingis -6 games!

Haas to beat Fed @ $7.50

For Haas to beat Fed, it will be a 5 set match so value in a 5 set match. But I'm sticking with Haas to beat Fed @ $7.50 incase he finishes it in 4.

Ya I think you're right. I looked up her previous matches from last year too.. Not very impressive. She's barely in the top 100 and doesnt get far in slams. Just put a small wager on games under 18 1/2 won.

Well small wager died.. Hingis got broken 4 times in the 2nd set. True WTA player. Stosur did nothign special but spray balls everywhere.

Go Haas time!

Gonna grab R.FEDERER WINS 3-1 @ 4.140.. drop a small wager only.. That sounds like a deal! eh?

Actually I'm gonna grab: Not R. Federer in 3 Sets @ 2.45... Safe play all haas has to do is win 1... good payout for the risk I think? Federer has dropped sets to haas before.

Damn I only took Not Fed in 3-0... Shoulda also taken Fed wins 3-1 @ 4.14 and Fed wins 3-2 @ 8 odds! lol Oh well money made is money made..

After losing to Hingis cause she didn't cover her games, I got made and made a second wager on Not fed in 3-0 lol.
