I don't think Federer played as good as he is in this tournament since a long long time!

But you never know :)

And about Haas... Federer has 2 revenges to take, on for the defeat 10 days ago and one for their last meeting at the AO 3 years ago :)

The AO website says Roger had 43 winners to just 9 UE
In the second set he hit 21 winners versus 1 Unforced Error :worship:

Did anyone see the match? If Roger keeps playing like that, I can't ever picture Tommy beating him... But who knows... Good luck to both! :yeah:

Mirnyi just couldn't make any dent on Federer's serve, and out of 10 times that he came to the net, Federer passed him 8, 9 times. The scoreline was actually deceptive in the sense that Federer was even more dominant that it suggested.

I think he has the AO one in his mind more, he mentioned that loss in great detail on his on court interview

Couldn't agree more though, this is the best I have seen him play for a while :worship:

i had enough
here are my suggestions to make atp fair again. we keep going down the list until the tour catches up.

1. federer plays left handed
2. federer has to hop to the ball on one foot
3. federer uses a table tennis racket
4. federer uses a golf club
5. federer consumes a large supersize big mac meal at each change of ends
6. federer consumes a bottle of tequila in between sets
7. at the start of a tiebreak federer gets pinned to the net and opponent gets to serve 5 times at him

That seemed like a great match from Roger, wow. :worship: I still can't believe ESPN Brasil chose to air Grosjean vs Coria tape-delayed while Roger vs Max was happening. Guille is one of my favorites, but that match was just too painful. :o

As for the whole top half, I hope Mathieu can be consistent and reach at leas the QFs, although I'd love to see him in the SFs and he has a real shot at it. Allez!

Good luck Rogi and Paulo next round. I like Haas and Grosjean too, but they have to go now. :p I just hope they all play good matches, and if Roger and Tommy play up to their potential, they could make an amazing one.

you forgot:
8. Roger gains 100 lbs.
9. Roger plays in pajamas and slippers.
10. Roger plays with Mirka's thumb up his ass.

congrats Roger! keep them guessing! :worship:

W/UE ratios in a match like this are massively deceptive - against a player like Mirnyi, it's easy to hit winners and hard to hit unforced errors, because he can't compete for too long from the baseline and a lot of your errors when returning his serve are forced. Federer won't have those sorts of stats against Haas, but I do hope he can maintain his efficient level of play, since this is a great step-up in quality.

Come on Roger. You're in great shape. Tommy is playing very well also but I think he'll go down in straight sets.
Then 1/4 and 1/2 finals are OK for Roger.
Then the big final against either Roddick, Ljubo or Nalbandian.
Hopefully a 7th grand slam title at 24 !!

His returning from the BH wing was incredible. Against just about anyone else there would've been some TB's at least. Max played well, but Fed was out of this world.

Back to what Sjengster was saying, when a player attacks the net and you miss even a relatively easy pass, it still doesn't count as an UE so the stats look nice and clean. Remember Guga vs. Max at the USO a few years back? Guga hit over 100 winners in that match.

Still, Federer played some great, great tennis.
