So...

What grade would you give Eurosport for their coverage of the Australian Open this year?

1 = Lowest
10 = Highest

5 is a fail - 6 is a pass.

:confused:

I give it a 4 :help:

- They stop before play is finished.
- They zap between matches so you can't follow either match properly.
- Commentary seems to have reached another low :o

coverage is great. I can't complain at all. A little highlight show would be a nice extra feature though :D

I also think coverage is great and I don't know what all these people want from EuroSport? They show many matches and they stick to where the action is most interesting. I actually don't remember to be irritated with their's choice of court not a single time! So thumbs up for EuroSport :yeah: And the commentary sounds good enough to me.

I’ll give EuroSport a 7 – after all there’s always room for improvement :)
From what I have read on MTF, European coverage is better than most so don’t give them too hard a time huh!

8- Swedish commentators are pretty good. I kind of like when they switch between matches this early on, you get to see more players this way. It's a shame though they don't cover the night session now at the week-end when I have time to watch. Is biathlon big on the continent?

I agree. Silly skiing instead of the match with Federer :mad: . What a Aus Open. Great Eurosport :confused:

I didn't get to watch much of the live coverage during the week, but based on what I did watch - I liked the commentary and I didn't mind switching between the matches (but only because Rafa and Marat aren't playing :p ).
Basically I'm just happy to be watching any tennis at all. :) BUT I miss the highlights show and I think that no night matches over the weekend is pretty much a disgrace. So a 7 from me.

Well the french version is even worse... they show taped female skeleton instead of Federer!!!

The good thing is that they show a lot of live during the night, but their coverage in the morning here, i.e. night session, is lame generally...

Sometimes I've actually been very pleased with the coverage.

I would've given an eight because I think the coverage has been good although it has lacked a highlights show which means I have to record tennis in the night and watch it after work. However over the weekend, surely the time when most people are going to watch late night tennis/morning tennis, they are not showing the night matches. Not only is this annoying for viewers it is nonsensical as far as I can tell.

This takes two points off for me so I give Europsort a 6

I haven't been able to watch much because of work (and when I can this morning and tomorrow morning they show Alpine Skiing instead :devil: ) - but from what I've seen and heard from others I give it a 4. I know British viewers are spolit with Sky Sports interractive and BBCi, but Eurosport get a big "COULD DO BETTER" from me this year :devil: - especially the lack of an evenng highlights show for people who work all day, and the endless switching matches :devil: Btw - a friend of mine knows someone who works at Eurosport and plans to ask them for the reasons behind cutting out the highlights show - if I hear anything I will let you know.

There is not the 'endless switching' that is being portrayed in these threads I don't think. I have watched a lot of Aus Open tennis on Europsort in the first week and there are not these rapid fire changes people are saying there are. Also, the changes are not random, the show has a line up of matches it wants to play and when those matches begin it plays them from start to finish. The program just selects a different match to pass time before the 'featured' match begins.

I'm quite glad about the Eurosport coverage for me so far. But I'm also a big upset when they show skiing or ski jumping (or other things) while some night session matches are being played.

They often switch to matches that almost finish. And this sometimes takes twenty minutes to finish :rolleyes:

Too many WTA matches, switching like idiots.
Then showing bloody german players all the time.
Only boring match, expect some.
All in all, worst ever.

Frew McMillan and Mats Wilander drag it up single-handedly to a 7.... the rest of the commentary team push it well below 0. So an aggregate score of 3. Watching a Sharapova match with Simon Reed commentating is possibly the best argument for euthanasia that anyone could put forward.

You're not missing much, apart from Frew the Magnificent and occasional gems from Mats. Chris Bradnam suddenly adopted pervert mode last night, even when there was no Hantuchova on court, and started talking about how stunning the teenage female players looked as they slipped to feeble defeats. And why on earth he insists on asking his female co-commentator about the way the women look is beyond me...

I am fine with Eurosport, except when they showed a rerun instead of live tennis yesterday noon, claiming they were running out of time - WTF?! And while I hate it that they show ski jumping and stuff like that on the weekend instead of the evening sessions, I can understand it - it's not a tennis channel, other viewers probably expect the winter sports, and ski jumping and biathlon are huge in Germany (where I live).
I really don't mind the switching between matches, I'm glad I get to see lots of players. They usually switch to a match different from the "main match" they're showing when a set is about to be finished, and of course they can't predict exactly how long it will take a player to win it. And in the second week with fewer matches to show, I assume they are not going to switch so much. But I doubt we'll get to see any doubles matches. :(

With the German commentators not being great (but not so terrible either), I prefer to watch British Eurosport, so that's okay for me. I think I'll give it a 7. After all, it's tennis. :)
