What do the AO & Ch7 have against Federer?

The year Roger won, there was a lengthy pre-final interview/walk around the shrine with Safin. Nothing with Fed
It's also the only year I've watched when they didn't show a sit-down interview with the winner after the ceremony

As for Channel 7's coverage, I thought 2004 was bad enough when they didn't show Fed v Morrisson :( Last year, in contrast, was great. They showed all Federer's matches, regardless of other Aussies on other courts.

This year, they haven't shown him yet. Having Foxtel digital active as well, it's unbelievable that no channel is covering his matches live. It makes me, as usual hope all the Aussies lose - ASAP.

What's with the AO scheduling Federer's matches at off-peak times? All the other big names have been given prime-time slots, plus full coverage (if you don't count the insane volume of commercials)

And I'm sick of Channel 7's (all Aussie commentators in fact) grudge against the Argentines. But that's another matter.

Deboogle!.

You don't think Peter Luczak is as exciting as Federer? :)

Yes, you're right. This year he seemed to get most of the men in his half, & the women scheduled the same days. But last year he was given preference. Though the interview thing is still curious. And other little things, including the scheduling.
Who wants to watch Nicole Pratt instead of the World No.1? Personally, I don't ever want to watch her. But I don't watch women's tennis. They even had her match shown on Foxtel at the same time. A blissful double dose  Luczak/Rochus is on two channels now too.

If they knew how many of us were anything but fans of Hewitt... (I actually wouldn't mind him as much were he from another country!)

Womens tennis so much more exciting than mens, and at least you can watch hot girls.

The reason why they probably aren't showing much of Federer is because {as much as I hate to say it} he will most likely be there next week and he will get enough television coverage then.

I wouldn't even watch Nicole Pratt if she played nude.

If Nicole Pratt played nude, there would be no fans in the stadium and no camera men to capture the images. They'd all be running for their life

Well I don't mind when Roger isn't playing the night sessions - that way we here in Europe get to see him - which we wouldn't be able when he's playing night sessions as we have to go to work then ;)

I know what you mean, that Pratt shit instead of Federer on tuesday really pissed me off. And i'm assuming that instead of watching JC in about an hour, we're going to get the fantastic Nathan Healey VS Amer Delic. WHO THE HELL CARES ABOUT THEM

i forgot to mention, I really really really can't wait for Hewitt's match tonight. Show Hewitt and Stosur and leave the other aussies. The rest of them suck (Luczak is having a good run, but it will end)

While there are Aussies in the draw then that's what Ch 7 tend to focus on. You can't blame them for that as many Australians want to watch the Aussies in action. But I can understand how you feel .. I mean the true tennis fans also want to watch the other stars in action.

So what you need is Fox Sports Digital so you have 2 extra courts to choose from.

Plus Fox Sports have been showing Federer on their overnight replays so you can catch the main matches you may have missed during the day.

I know. I am totally staying up for this match.
And I am a bit surprised to find that an Aussie doesn't want the fellow Aussie players hogging the live television.
Come to think of it, I just hate it when ESPN shows Americans and Maria Sharapova all the time.

What do they have against him? Maybe he is boring, arrogant and looks down on little opponents with an arrogant face during the match all the time?

The problem has been that Federer has been on the same day as all the Aussies so Channel 7 have shown the Aussies. But Fox Sports have shown full replays of Roger both days so that's been cool.

Now that Lleyton is out and the other 2 Aussie boys will find it tough to get past the next round I am sure that world order will be restored and we shall see Roger on Channel 7. :)

If Channel 7 doesn't like Federer, the German Eurosport commentators make up for that again because basically everyone of these guys is a fan of Federer who praise him too much for liking

It's a little more complicated than that. As I said, last year they showed Fed over the Aussie no-names. I also have Foxtel digital. Not much point advertising the 2 active channels when 1/2 the time 1 shows the same as channel seven - Tuesday both showed that Pratt match, plus the Luczak matches, and Healey today etc. It seems Seven hasn't allowed Foxtel to have live coverage of his matches...

Yeah Chela! Now surely Fed will get Saturday night!

And I am a bit surprised to find that an Aussie doesn't want the fellow Aussie players hogging the live television.

I switch them off  Not about to contribute to their ratings

That's what I love about Kooyong. No Aussies play, the spectators are, for the most part, not Hewitt fans.

btw someone told me the other day Foxtel *may* not be showing the masters series this year...

It's not that they don't like him They gush too. They go on about how amazing he is to watch, then don't rate him as one of the ones who'll be watched most. Yet last year his night matches had the largest audience after Hewitt's.

I love British commentators best :yeah:

I find it so embarrassing when channel seven show "selected" clips of those dickheads screamimg c'moooooooooon. No wonder tennis is on a downward tilt here. If I had kids, & saw that there's no way I'd be rushing to sign them up with Tennis Australia.

I've caught the two replays of Fed's matches. Given that I pay for Foxtel, the number of ads in tonight's replay, almost on a par with Seven's coverage...

His two matches haven't exactly been exciting, unfortunately. Unlike last year's 2nd round vs Suzuki which I saw live :D

i guess with Tennis tey schedule the live matches & broadcast the ones they (media, Tv) think wil get the most attention &viewers
Last year i didnt watch any of the MS tournies
no channel was showing them
but i got lucky with the shanghai & got to watch Nalby beat Federer
like some1 mentioned Federer will likely be around the second week , so they give some air time for the local aussies

Perhaps they are just getting tired of Fed's wins..so they wait for quarters/semis to have a chance of seeing him lose...It's understandable...
Yes, I think that's it they are just bored of perfection, and very-short-easily won matches... :o

This comment is from a post I read in an Australian Open thread on an Aussie Rules Forum:

now we just need the rest of the Aussies eliminated so Channel 7 actually shows the best players. Twice now they've shown players ranked 2348907th in the world instead of Federer

My thoughts exactly! :yeah:

Right, well it seem they've come to an agreement over the rights so they'll be showing it.

Speakng of Foxtel, anyone catch the replay of the Fed/Haas match? Full replay - including change of end sit-downs etc which I like to watch. They aired advertisments only 4 times - about 2mins of them at the end of each set! :clap2:

The coverage has been garbage this year - same as every other year. Same five or six players showin every round.
Hopefully I will be going next year so I won't have to watch the rubbish coverage again.
