Well, as I've just said in the spanish forum I had the intuition that Marat don't play the AO. I think that is very sad for us, the fans, but is a very wise decision for Marat and for his career. If we want to see Marat in courts again we have to be patient and wait the injury gets over totally or on the contrary we lost Marat and his marvellous play.
Come on Marat! We love you and we support you.

Ok to be honest i feel kinda relieved. I'm really sad that we will have to wait one more month  and that he won't defend his title  (and sorry for Pamushka  and other Aussies), but this whole injury thing was scaring me more and more, regarding the rest of his career i mean. But he says his knee's feeling much better and maybe i shouldn't believe him  but i really want to and so i will (and hopefully that's not a lie and i won't end up like this -->> :crying2: in a few weeks).

So i hope we will really see the end of this nightmare when the Open 13 begins (i'm so glad he comes to Marseille this year btw, even though i can't go there :o)

And Peter: :worship: (as always)

Well, I must say I'm relieved. I was really not looking forward to watch him stumble and fall. Ofcourse it's very sad and too big of a contrast with '05, but it's the better choice of two.
To compensate, I will focus a lot on the women now. At least I got 5 or 6 there I can really get excited about.

I really feel like crying! :sobbing: :crying2: :tears:  I've believed for sometime that he won't be playing the AO but it is very different when you hear it as an official announcement. I guess like some I was expecting for a miracle to happen. But like I said in GM, it is hopefully for the best. It's better this way. There is no point in joining if he would not feel confident in his position as defending champion. I just hope that with all these sacrifices, he will be ready to take his place amongst the best once he begins playing. The main concern should be his long term health and ability to compete at the top. Omg this just totally disappoints me but oh well...with his being out this long already, do you guys think he should have undergone surgery instead? If he did, he'll probably be back around the same time or the difference wouldnt really be that much in terms of time. But I guess it's pointless to go over these things.

What's worse is that I just finished watching the AO semis a couple of hours ago on Star Sports! Ugh! Well, I guess at least I saw him...

You think so...? I dunno.. he's been absent for longer periods but somehow always managed to shoot back to the top because of the convenient time of the tennis season. = the last months (September -> November) or the beginning of the season (-> AO, where he traditionally gets a lot of points).
Now his return is planned in February. When is the last time he played good in the period from February to May? :o
I don't want to sound too negative here but I'm guessing the path to the top will go slower because there won't be another Slam until the summer.

I guess everything will depend on the fitness and the knee. There is simply no room for knee problems and oafishness because time runs fast. Tick tick..

Hey, he'll just save the January joyride for February to May ;)
If he's smart, he'll start around RG, so he has his best period there, wins his 3rd grandslam title, only thing remaining then is Wimbledon and he'll then have all 4 slams

Whether he plays or not all depends on fitness, obviously.

He also committed for the Open 13 in Marseille the week before, so if he plays, the day I recommend would depend on his performance there. You'll be hard-pushed to see him during qualifying unless you find some way to get onto the centre court. I've managed the latter in previous years, but it's hard and my attempt to get that done this year has, so far, been fruitless.

If he plays, he'll be on centre court I reckon.

Russia's a huge multinational country, so Tatars are one of the nations living here (and there are quite a lot of them ;) ).

Yes, exactly. Thank you Dream.
In Poland live many Tatars, about 50,000 . They arrived in the kingdom of Poland in 13 th century and in the second half of 16 th century Kind III Sobieski granted them land privileges in exchange for readiness to fight for Poland. He guaranteed them freedom of religion. They have really good life in my country. We like Tatars. And we definitely like Russia :) :) :) And we are mad, couse our governments argue. It is stupid. We like Russia, we have common history and morals.

As for "occupation", Vass... I wouldn't call it like this. Russia didn't do any cruel things to Poland. That's just a plot made by politicans, I guess.
Besides, if you remember the history, that was Russia that suffered from Polish occupation in 17th century.
So all that talks about "occupation" are not very objective :p

Dude, did you mean Polish intercession for Dymitr Samozwaniec ( reputed son of Iwan IV) ? Well, that was really rude I must say. Sorry for that  . Actually, Moscow was in Poland (untill Russian has kicked us from Kreml :( ) Part of Polish territory was placed in Russia and part of Russian one was in Poland. And it is true that Poland suffered from Russian occupation, but we took them many lands with Moscow. Their fault and our fault.
I will not mension about Stalin, becouse this is story for longer discussion.. :tape: :scared:
Anyway, I always feel like home in Russia. I understand Russian, couse I am Russian in a half (my ancestors were from Kaukaz and very east Russia). And this is my second home. ..

Charity ends up at home
January 16, 2006

After Marat Safin left Melbourne last year, his management company sent Paul McNamee a signed photo of the Australian Open champion.

The tournament boss spent last year wondering where he had put the thing, and found out yesterday morning when it was auctioned for the Kids' Tennis Foundation at Channel Seven's Talking Tennis function.

Turns out his wife, Lesley, stumbled across the photo during a spring clean and donated it to the charity, which McNamee founded.

She still hasn't got rid of it, though - McNamee forked out $850 to regain possession.

Info about some girlfriend (they don't mention who) seems very unreliable. And "Marat doesn't even :secret: her name to his friends, coz he's still measuring what he feels towards her.. BLAH BLAH BLAH.

The pictures of buildings are supposedly his appartments. He said that he sold his own appartment because he had way too many guests there, and by Spanish traditions had to welcome them to his home, etc, etc. He wasn't comfortable with that, so he sold the appartment. He now lives at his parents' appartment when he comes to Spain (it's the pink one).

Sorry, i wouldn't translate in details.

Ever been to a summer festival? When I went to Werchter they had a special area for women and their 'plastuiten' and it was basically an open space with a board that covered you from about your boobs to your knees. So the women who were daring enough to try it were pretty much exposed and being stared at by passers-by :o

For those of you who have no idea what we are talking about ;), a 'plastuit' is made out of plastic or (god forbid  ) cardboard that is supposed to allow women to pee up standing.

Never thought that you'll make it.

A group of French scientist got the Ignoble prize (maybe it's not called Ignoble  ) last year for their study of how Pinguins poop.... :tape:
Of all people, i thought that you'd read about it.

Btw. this is REALLY REALLY gross. I'm out of here.

Birthday Messages to Marat

You have all asked for the opportunity and through Amit Naor we have managed to arrange something. Marat will be spending his birthday in Moscow and Amit will be there. He will take a special birthday folder of messages to Marat but time is short.

SO please follow the following simple rules and send your messages off today to the special email address provided below.
PLEASE NOTE: Because of the shortage of time - anyone whose message does not follow the rules listed below will NOT be sent. I do not have the time to check each one and get them corrected. You have one chance - please do it correctly.

1. Simple Message only to Marat - NO MORE THAN 25 WORDS ONLY PLEASE.
2. Messages only in English, Spanish or Russian - NO other languages - Marat does not understand them so there would be no point in sending them.
3. Message can be in colour and use small amount of symbols such as smileys. You can make it look pretty.
4. Please make sure that you put your full name (for example Christine Smith) and where you are from (example Paris France). NO Nicknames and no email addresses and please no love messages - this is for Marat's birthday - just write your wishes for him.
5. All messages must be with me by the latest 12 noon GMT (UK) time Wednesday 25 January 2006. This will allow fans in the far side of the US to get their messages in. There will be no extra time - there is a lot I have to do in a short time so please understand.
