NINA_BCN 08-28-2005, 04:10 PM  I know....:o Chrissie_7 08-29-2005, 06:50 AM Marat wont play at the USOpen!!!!! "I am sorry everyone but Marat is withdrawing from the US Open. Please read the news on the Home Page. Despite his best efforts, he has had to admit that his knee is not ready. So we will just have to keep supporting him and hoping he will be fully fit very soon. The Us Open will not feel the same. webby" 28.08.05 Regrettably we have to announce that Marat is withdrawing from the US Open. Although Marat wanted more than anything to play and has tried whatever he could to be ready, as a professional tennis player he has had to admit that his body is saying it is too soon. So he has made the decision after discussions with all those around him. He is not depressed because he realises this is the right thing to do. He will return to Italy to continue treatment at the Isokinetic and ensure that his knee is fully recovered. His one regret is that he is disappointing his fans who wanted to see him play. It is not known how long he will be out but we will keep you informed. This time he will make sure he does not rush into returning. Marat still wants to play his tennis and he will be back. As his fans he needs your support more than ever. Peace For all those who might feel that we were giving the wrong impression, please note this was because Marat himself was saying he was fine. Marat has to make his own decisions and we have to abide by them. As with if anyone is ill, the medical people always tell you "He'll be fine!" We were always hopeful but in the end one's body is the one that makes the final decision xuan 08-29-2005, 02:36 PM aww..he's not playing?! sigh..hope he gets well soon! it's better to heal his injuries rather than jeopardizing his career. get well soon, marat! :) MariaV 08-30-2005, 06:58 AM Dunno Irochka if you heard it on NTV+ yesterday but Anna Vlad. It's been quite a while since we've last seen you on a tennis court. You had to stop playing for a few months... because of an injured wrist, now that you're back, how do you feel ? MS : I feel better... I hope that i'll find my game very soon. My wrist is still a bit sore, but I'm much better now! But when you come back its always difficult.. the other guys, they are playing so fast... They haven't been granted a six month break! (laughing) J: Do you have any explanation about the cause of this injury ? MS : In my opinion, it is because of the end of last season, I had to play too many matches : I won in Paris twice : Bercy and the Davis Cup.. had too little time to rest before the beginning of this season.. before the Australian tournaments... you know, that's really hard to keep the pace up.... When you see players like Ferrero thinking of skipping the Australian Open because of the Davis Cup.... J: Do you find it hard to come back like that ? Is it the first time for you to come back after a so long and serious injury ? MS: Of course it is difficult! I couldn't use my left wrist for a few months... I couldn't play tennis at all, tried new sports… I wanted to try roller-skating or go ice-skating but I was told that it wasn't really careful for my wrist!! (laughing) J : It looks as if you had fun though!!! What else have you done during all this "free time" ? MS : I travelled a bit, went fishing, went to the movies, watched my Simpsons DVDs, spent time with my family and my friends. And I'm really proud of my little sis' who has won a tourney this year... and as we have a kind of tradition between the two of us, I gave her a little present : a little black and white cat called Tolstoi... but as she travels a lot now... he is to stay in Moscow with our Dad... J: Are you still coached by Denis Golovanov ? MS : "coach" isn’t the proper word, he is more a friend who travels and practises with me, and he doesn’t help me only for tennis, he sometimes helped me cooking!!! I'm sure he'd be an excellent cook !!!! (laughing) J : You'll soon have to defend your title in Bercy, are you worried about that ? MS : Worried? Why would I be worried ? you know, I'm 23.... I'm living on my passion, I'm happy in life.. I'm happy to play again! and what a pleasure to go to Paris! I love the atmosphere, I love Bercy, I have always been lucky there and the fans are great!! J: Let me wish you good luck for Bercy and the rest of the season! MS : Thank you! Meeek 08-31-2005, 08:13 AM Thanks for that one, never read it! "Knowing" Marat....:rolleyes: mer 09-04-2005, 12:36 PM from official 04.09.05 Marat Update To quote a certain PC Advert " Change of Plan". Marat did not go back to Bologna - instead he consulted with Dr. Feder in New York whose opinion he respects and on his recommendation Marat is now in Frankfurt Germany where tomorrow Monday he has an appointment with Dr. Heinz Lohrer at the Sports Medicine Institute. Dr. Lohrer has presented papers on Radial Shockwave Therapy for the treatment of "Jumpers Knee" and achilles tendonitis. After his consultation we will know more about what has to be done for Marat's knee but it is anticipated Marat will spend at least 2 weeks in Frankfurt. Marat is determined to do everything possible to get his knee back in good working order. NINA_BCN 09-04-2005, 01:34 PM "Achilles tendonitis"?????? Meeek 09-09-2005, 07:57 PM 09.09.05 Marat Update Marat had his consultation with Dr Lohrer on Monday in Frankfurt and his first session of treatment. He then went to Moscow to attend the funeral on Wednesday 07/09 of his friend Leonid Nureshenko who died tragically on Saturday in a motorbike accident. Understandably Marat was very upset by the death of his friend and as he has been away from home so much lately, felt he wanted to stay near to family and friends. It has been established that the same treatment is available in Moscow so Marat is happy that he can stay at home and continue his treatment. The course covers 5 hours a day of Physio, shockwave treatment, gym and massage and will last 5 weeks. Therefore it is anticipated that all being well, Marat will be fit for the Japan Open in Tokyo on 3rd October. We will keep you informed of developments. This is a very hard time for Marat dealing with the death of a close friend and his injury and knowing he has so many points to defend. "Safin is still not fully recovered from his knee injury and he is not on the team," Shamil Tarpishchev told Reuters. "It'll be at least another month and a half before he can resume playing." Safin has been troubled with a ligament tear in his left knee since losing in the third round of Wimbledon. The injury forced him out of Russia's 3-2 Davis Cup quarter-final win over France in July, as well as the U.S. Open. "Even with Safin on the team, we would have problems overcoming a formidable Croatian side on their home turf, but without him it makes our task twice as tough," Tarpishchev said. "But we won't go out without a fight." In Safin's absence, Tarpishchev has called up Davis Cup newcomer Dmitry Tursunov along with world number seven Nikolay Davydenko, 2002 Davis Cup hero Mikhail Youzhny and Igor Andreev. Davydenko was Russia's hero in July when he led the Davis Cup team to a come-from-behind victory over France to reach the last four for the first time since 2002. Despite nursing a painful wrist injury, the Ukraine-born and Germany-based Davydenko won both his singles matches to save the day for his adopted country. The semi-final will be played at an indoor arena in Split from September 23 to 25. cc2monac 09-14-2005, 08:55 AM does anyone know if marat will play the kremlin cup?...it's pitty that he cannot play the daviscup but misha andreev and davydenko are good players too...let's believe in their chance! {Annie} 09-14-2005, 08:56 AM Too soon to talk about Kremlin Cup, trust me. With regards to the Japan Open - officially Marat has not withdrawn but as there is no guarantee that he will be able to play, it was felt that the tournament director should be allowed to negotiate for another player in case of Marat not being ready to play.So this is what his management team have told the director of the tournament. Should Marat be ready then he will play. Unfortunately with the injury it is not possible to give any definite answers at this time. He definitely is not playing the Thai Open and a press release was made this weekend about this. Im sooo clueless about tennis these days :o maratski 09-28-2005, 09:09 PM He's the shit now ;) At least for people who like boyish looks  maratski 09-28-2005, 09:10 PM I'm cluesless about tennis too btw, but not about guys! Kiara 09-28-2005, 09:14 PM Djokovic is the shit? woah...i mean he's ok looking, if not for the nose. Kiara 09-28-2005, 09:16 PM you guys are right! Nole has his own forum!!! Kiara 09-28-2005, 09:18 PM Seeing as they're letting anyone and everyone with a fan or two have a forum i wonder if they'll let us have a KIMI forum ? ;) Saumon 09-28-2005, 09:22 PM you guys are right! Nole has his own forum!!! he even has his own official site :p (and no, I wont say it looks better than Marat's   ) maratski 09-28-2005, 09:22 PM Now that would be the shit!!! He's my new #2 in sports. Beat Mika and Beckham on my list. Kiara 09-28-2005, 09:25 PM he even has his own official site :p (and no, I wont say it looks better than Marat's   ) I shall go check it out, the only time ive seen nole play is against Marat, but I hear he's quite good. I need a new bandwagon to jump on....maybe nole will get lucky and i'll jump on his  Saumon 09-28-2005, 09:27 PM I've havent really seen him play but I heard his game is quite similar to Marat's :D Kiara 09-28-2005, 09:28 PM Now that would be the shit!!! He's my new #2 in sports. Beat Mika and Beckham on my list. Kimi is my current #1 since Marats doing jack atm...he's been relegated to the back until he starts playing and gets a haircut :D Kiara 09-28-2005, 09:30 PM I've havent really seen him play but I heard his game is quite similar to Marat's :D I cant remember his game, but he's a bit of a character... maratski 09-28-2005, 09:31 PM Good kiara! I've only seen nole play against Marat and it wasn't bad. Last bandwagon I jumped on was Gasquet I think. I'm getting old ;) maratski 09-28-2005, 09:31 PM I don't have the tape anymore with that AO match :o Kiara 09-28-2005, 09:35 PM I Getty'd Nole...his portrait isnt bad...Marat's is hideous! So is Juanca's ick.. Ilhame there is room on Verdasco's bandwagon :lick: maratski 09-28-2005, 09:37 PM The short hair version bandwagon then ;) I saw him with Feli in Rotterdam and against Soderling at RG. Was nice...in doubles as well. Kiara 09-28-2005, 09:42 PM btw have you seen/heard of Heikki Kovalainen? maratski 09-28-2005, 09:45 PM I saw those races at the Stade de France a while ago. Don't remember his looks anymore, but he's another race talent. Kiara 09-28-2005, 09:52 PM Yeah he's a punk...he's not good looking but has enough attitude to make up for it. He's the current GP2 leader and test driving for Renault, and he mouthed off on finnish tv that he'll be replacing Fisi in 2006 :ras: :( maratski 09-28-2005, 09:55 PM I like Fisi!!! Finland sure has some great drivers. Mika is doing alright in DTM this year. He was in Rotterdam for some racing demonstrations last month, but I was in Morocco. Kiara 09-28-2005, 10:22 PM Gab, Nole's official website kicks ass! There are loads of pics of him with Ivanovic? Are they dating? He should date her, she's a babe. The facial hair makes him look better and he has a rather nice smile. Shadow 10-02-2005, 09:56 AM NEWS!!!!!! www.maratsafin.com 02.10.05 There is good news and bad news - depending on how you look at it. The good news is the knee injury is progressing well - the bad news is that it has been decided that Marat will not play until the St. Petersburg Open followed by Bercy and then Shanghai Masters Cup. This will give him some practice before the end of the season to test out the knee and then he will start the new season of 2006 fully fit. At this stage it has not been confirmed which tournament he will start with in 2006 but it is anticipated he will start with a regular tournament rather than an exhibition match.
