It's the AO and I'm already bored...

Federer lost his most fearsome competition with Marat and Rafael out. All of the exciting young players who were to take this year by storm are out (except for Marcos). Sesil got suspended. Martina H. is an exciting comeback but what she did to Vera of the New Russians was just sad. All of the Czechs I've been tracking are out (except for Nicole). I don't even know who to root for other than Roger.

And, on top of it all, I can't download any torrents and I have a new computer :fiery:

True, I was also hoping for some combination of matches including
Federer/Safin/Nadal.

Oh well 3 other grand slams where they could face each other.

It's still exciting. Ferrero is still in the tournament and he's going to win the whole thing *remains optimistic* What reason is there not to be excited!!!

I'd like to see JC recover fully from his ailments. He's doing fine, so far.

i'm bored because espn refuses to show any good matches. they showed hewitt's, but that's the only good one they've bothered to show so far. :(

here we've gotten half very good matches, half very bad ones. it's funny because we've had no decent ones, only good and bad.

I always have this sort of letdown after the Kooyong Classic.

Boring? It's only the second round, things don't really get going until the fourth, so let's wait and see.

i am hoping coria - roddick final in mens

In that case I'd be selling my tickets.

how is this the most exciting AO when several real contenders to the crown withdrew
its like watching the inevitable
its not like any of the young crop was going to win the title but maybe progress further & maybe make a couple of shock wins

my take on things is that in the second week like last year the matches on centre and that are really exciting and close contests.

but in the first few days the ones that are shown on tv are mismatches on centre and theyre really boring. but that doesn't mean the tournament is boring, the best matches are the matches on margeret court arena or the show courts because they are the closest contests with louder crowds.

It's all a matter of perspective. There have been some very exciting matches if you have watched them eg. Hewitt v Vik, Baghdatis v Stepanek, and Kiefer v Srichaphan for example. And I have been lucky to have seen all three of these on our broadcasts in Oz.

Plus the Malisse v Johansson match (which is on now) is very exciting if you are watching that.

If you were unable to see these than I guess some of the other clashes have been relatively one sided but it's often the case in early round action at the slams.

But, with 3 of the big guns not playing, I can't see this tournament being as exciting as last years AO mens which had so many thrilling battles in the 2nd week. Thank heavens there are lots of potential great match ups in the womens to generate interest! Go Hingis! :)

I'm watching Johansson-Malisse now and it's pretty exciting. Quality shotmaking and a specter of a meltdown looming just nearby. So, I'm not bored although 2 of my 3 faves are out (Marat and Gasquet) and the 3-rd (Guille) is unlikely to last in teh 2nd week. There are a lot of good matches. I cant wait for Hewitt-Chela, for example, even if I don't root for anyone in particular.

Totally agree.
Martina! :worship: I really hope she can keep on winning, I love watching her play.

I have some of my favourite players still in the tournament. I'm not bored yet, rather the opposite, excited! :)

And as long as Nalbandian is still in, one of Roger's enemies is still in the draw ;)

HOPP HOPP ROGER!!!

I think there are some good match ups coming, but we miss a lot because ESPN only features Serena, Roddick, Sharapova, Davenport. It's hard to catch any of the other matches. They don't even announce when they are showing live matches at 3am EST. You never know when any matches you want to see are actually going to be shown.

Maybe I am in the minority but I think that Hewitt and Roddick can challenge Roger. I don't take it for granted that those two will always roll over for Roger. Roddick is playing with more confidence. For that matter Haas beat Roger in Kooyong and Roger will probably play him in the 4th round.

I would find it very exciting to have Roger win another major plain and simple. I don't need to see him almost lose a match to be excited. For that matter.....seeing Roger play well and look so handsome is exciting all by itself. :worship:

I'd love for Hingis to go farther than expected but I think it's going to be hard for her against a power hitter like Pierce.

I'm bored... of the coverage more than anything...

The first week of slams is always boring. The big boys are just skipping along but once in a while there's a real good nailbiter match (Hewitt-Vik). The second week will be much better when Andy destroys Ivan in the quarters. :p

And as Bagdahtis moves further along I'm hoping ESPN will finally show a match of his.

I have to say that I agree with Carillo when she says that it's a pleasure to have Hingis around again. Finally, some clean hitting and some decent numbers from a women's match instead of the usual 78 ue's crapfest. Martina :hearts:

It's boring that they show all of a one sided Serena, Lindsay, or Roddick match.
Roger's one-sided blowouts are also boring and I know you hate this fact but psst :secret: Serena and Andy are the ones who bring in the ratings, not Roger

It's boring that they show all of a one sided Serena, Lindsay, or Roddick match. Then they will ignore other interesting matches. Apparently the Ginepri match would have been interesting to see because his opponent Gremelmayr played an unconventional style.

If only they would pan around to several matches and not just show a one-sided match of a top seed in it's entirity.....unless there is something unusual going on.

Personally I'm amazed at how some of MTF's greatest clowns have all congregated in the same thread. That's why I'm posting this, I thought I had to join the club.

Are you still bored Tennis Fool? I definitely am not. We are going to watch some exciting matches with Marcos, Ivan, Fabrice and David in the bottom half - Fed v/s Haas and Nicky D v/s the dominator in the top. I think this is turning out to be an exciting AO ! :worship:
