Chela, he'll murder hewitt before the match is through, so he'll win by default before being taken to jail. But Chela is the only player I want to lose to Hewitt. Spitting is disgusting.

I have a funny feeling that when Chela takes to the court, he'll suddenly become the most popular Argentine player back home - even more so if he wins.

As they like to say, this will be a doozy!!! I can't wait. Lleyton is my boy, I was very happy the way he was able to gut it out last night (or afternoon), although Vik had his chances. Still, alot of others wouldn't have hung in like Lleyton and would have given Vik even more chances. Anyways, Chela vs. Hewitt is actually one of the matches that REALLY has some story behind it... Not just a "great American matchup!" like Ginepri/Roddick or "the battle of the serve and vollyers" like Timmy/Dent, but something with a real backstory and a real history between the two competitors. Drama! It'll be a great match. Chela is a solid player and never gets blown out by even top-10 players, but with the home crowd supporting Lleyton (and I am 100% sure they know about the little background of the matchup), and Lleyton being the better player, I will pick Lleyton in 4. But I won't be surprised if it's 5. If Lleyton wins in 3, that would be extremely surprising.

I know Lleyton is off to a shaky start, but I can't really recall him falling short in Grand Slams, except for his "off" year in which the then new-face Karlovic took him out at Wimby... Also, he did win his 1st round match, and played an excellent 5th, so I expect him to be gaining some confidence back. The only way I see Chela beating Hewitt is if he simply overwhelms Hewitt, but this is very hard to do to him in a Grand Slam...

dmit424
01-17-2006, 04:50 PM
Here's an easy way to look at it, mates. Lleyton has lost to the eventual champ in the last SEVEN Grand Slams... And Chela ain't winning it! So... Lleyton's grave lies under Federer, as always.

They didn't show the Chela match, but form what I've heard, he played very well. If Hewitt doesn't play like he played the entire 5th set, then you are right, an upset (if you want to call it that) is very possible.

It'll be interesting to see whether Hewitt holds back on the cmon's or perhaps goes completely over the top with them to irritate Chela? He does "cmon" more at the Aussie than anywhere else... He cmon'd more yesterday than he did at the entire '05 U.S. Open.

I agree, he has not been himself at all so far. I'm just hoping he can step it up tomorrow and win this match, otherwise what a disappointment. The only positive thing from yesterday's match is that he didn't give up and played a lot better in the 5th.
