His first opponent will be Mahut, who has really improved a lot this year, but still isn't in the same league as Juan Carlos.

Vamos Juanqui :)

Agassi is the only player to win Roland Garros & TMS Paris.

Let's hope JC will do the same but in the same year. :D

As per Jon Wertheim's mailbag this week: "Ferrero has the consistency and an Agassi-like propensity to take the ball on the rise". Hopefully there's more similarity between the 2, ie the Parisien titles.

I always do think Agassi and Ferrero has very similar style, eventhough I really don't like Agassi, but it's not a bad thing that Ferrero got to be compared with one of the greatest tennis player in the history.

Another one that he got compared to is Mats Wilander. I don't think I've ever seen Wilandar play so I can't really agree or disagree with that. But with Wilander's achievement, I really like the comparison :D. Here's the quote from the mailbag:

How would you compare Juan Carlos Ferrero's all-around game to that of Mats Wilander? Do you think Ferrero has what it takes to win as many slams as Wilander did? --Stelio Savante, Queens, N.Y.

That's a pretty good comparison, Stelio. There are a lot of similarities between their games. And if you still think Ferrero is a clay-court specialist you likely also think that Andre Agassi wears a neon bandanna and is married to Brooke Shields. Ferrero is still, of course, a half dozen Slams away from equaling Wilander, but given JC's play at the U.S. Open (and on the quasi-fast indoor courts of Madrid last week), you have to consider him a contender at three of the four Majors now.

Although I will take what Jon said this time, I still don't appreciate Jon's attitude towards most of the non-American players :p .

BTW, Vamos Juanqui, please try your best to win Paris.

He beat Mahut like 7-6 6-4, not a bad score against a player playing with a lot of confidence. Now he'll play the winner of Santoro/Novak, neither of which are playing that well lately. He's got to be the favorite in that match, even on the surface.

Vamos!

Tight match it was against Mahut and maybe one against Novak tomorrow...but lets hope JC can pull through! Go JC!!

Saved a set point in that first set tiebreak vs. Mahut. Turned out to be crucial.

Next up: Novak, who beat Santoro 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 today. Last match that these two played was at the TMC last year, won comfortably by Ferrero 7-5, 6-3.

I think Ferrero's game matches up well against Novak. I'm pretty confident about this match.

Don't disappoint, Juan Carlos!

You're being a bit harsh he wasn't playing that badly! It's a real shame he's not #1 anymore

John.Charles

I don't feel like i'm being harsh. i'm just telling the truth. The placement wasn't great. Too many of THE FOREHANDS were sailing long. When your fave is #1 you'd expect him to win, i'm just saying...he had a really bad day, that's all.

It's been an amazing long year for jc and he deserves to finish #1. He's tired and he needs to win Houston in a few weeks.

We all have too much expectations for him...lets just hope he gets his rest and is fit and firing to go in 2 weeks time (and regain his rightful no. 1 spot!)

damn it!!!!

you know i really feel like my heart is breaking... i hardly sleep last night and knowing the fact that he's not the no. 1 in both rankings makes me feel really kick Roddick's ass myself!!! (kidding)!

john. charles ur right, i really expected a lot for JC to win!!! but just lie they say, even though he lose, let's always look at the bright side of life!

hey, it wasn't a shame for him not to be no. 1 anymore, at least for the last weeks, he got it.

and also my symphathy for MARK PHILIPPOUSSIS AND SEBASTIEN GROSJEAN.

this guys are my favorite!!!

anyway, thanks to David nalbandian and tim henman for kicking oddick's ass in the last tournaments!

JIRI NOVAK did great, even though beating JC!

VAMOS JUAN CARLOS, for me , you'll always be the no. 1 player in the world!
