Tommy Haas to win the Aus Open

I know this is far fetched, but looking at his draw, it should be relatively easy up to the 4th round.

He should beat Richie Gasquet in the first round. Could be tough, but he should get up.

Then he'll face either Goldstein or Djokovic

After that, he will face either Oliver Rochus, Michael Llodra, Ivo Minar or Peter Luczak.

After that, he has Federer.

If he beats Federer, he has basically no one to worry about in the Quarters. These are the players he could face in the Quarters.

Hrbarty, Qualifyer, Qualifyer, Norman, Qualifyer, Sluiter, Almagro, Andreev, Volandri, Healey, Starace, Delic, Qualifyer, Kim, Karlovic, Davydenko

Then he has Hewitt if Hewitt makes it. And let's face it, Hewitt hasn't looked that convincing lately.

If Haas can get past Gasquet and Federer (he knows he can beat Federer so confidence could be sky high), he should make the final, if not win.

Let's go Haas

Gasquet, Djokovic, O.Rochus, Federer, Davydenko, Hewitt, Roddick.

Yeah, almost in the bag for Haas.
But I think he should start focusing on the 1st round. :)

But I would love Tommy to prove me wrong :D

Fed doesn't lose to many ppl twice in a row:) I think that Tommy might have just pissed him off enough in the exhibition to make Federer want to obliterate him on the way to another AO title;)

Well, I'm not sure about winning but he could certainly lose in the 1st round to Gasquet. Or, in the 2nd round to Djokovic. Or, in the 3rd round to Oly Rochus. But after that, it gets quite easy with Denis Istomin in the 4th round and Ivo Karlovic in the quarters. As long as he can survive his first 3 matches, he should have a very good chance.

Haas has the edge over roger on aussie rebound ace (3-0) but they did play in Qatar the week before last in a way more important event than an exho. and Fed won easy 3 and 3.
i think Hrbaty might make the quarter in roger's half and he's 2-0 v roger so this draw is far from easy for fed in 06.

Oh come on! Do you really think there's more than a 10% chance that Federer will be beaten in this section?

i didnt say there is a chance he'll get beaten....
just that tricky opponents are ahead of him, the way you hear some people talk lately they think Federer may as well be handed the trophy.
he'll get some tough matches before the semis i believe.

If he makes it to the semis, and a huge "if" then Coria will beat him because Coria will win the Australian Open. :p

plus in that match Haas played really really well. Federer is just better than him. If Federer plays well he wins the Aus Open it's as simple as that without Safin in the draw. No-one can beat him except himself and I don't think hell be bored because he wants to get this major back in his trophy cabinet. Haas is unlucky to have Fed in the 4th round. OItherwise I'd say he's on good enough form to beat nearly anyone else. If Gasquet plays well against him then he might be in trouble.

Haas has a brutal draw. I don't see him making it that far that he would face Federer.

He won't lose tomorrow. Gasquet is over-rated who will not beat Haas unless Haas retires hurt, particularly on this surface.

Haas will beat Gasquet.
