Personally I think he will have trouble with Hanescu. Streaky player, big serve, beat Nalbandian at Roland Garros. Guess people can always dream though

I want to be a patriot here but I gotta say Hanescu isn`t in the same league as Coria talent wise.Yes Victor defeated Nalbandian, but that`s just the way David is,one day he can beat Federer and the next lose to no.574.Guille won`t defeat Victor very easy but he will win the match.

I think Nalbandian has a pretty good chance of winning the AO,Guille not so much but it would be great.

Pardon my ignorance , but Coria 's winnig the AO is based on what?? :)

Any ways,i ven't seen him playing this year yet..but i really 'd like to see him having a better level than last year's,specially his serve which 'd be vital for getting on competition track in the AO .Good luck
have anyone seen him playing lately ?

His moron fans can always dream but this b!tch will never win a slam. The question is will he exit 1st or 2nd round but who cares.

Who are the moron fans?????? Does that dig help to prove a point, or just make you feel better? If you don't care, then why are posting in this thread? I would think Gonzalez might care as they could meet in R16.

That out of the way, I must admit I was surprised at the thread title. It is unlikely, but strangely enough looking at that side of the draw I thought everyone is vulnerable, and a number of players could emerge from the top half, Coria included.

Federer said in Kooyong interview that the way he played against Mirnyi was how he was going to play in the AO, so he is definitely vulnerable. He may have to pass Haas first too and Haas proved he is capable of stopping Federer. Kooyong is not AO, but that precedent is set, so maybe again?

Hewitt with virus and baby and lack of match practice due to injury is also prone to being upset - as he's shown in the warm-up events already. He might, as usual, return to form fast and he might not - an unknown.

Coria obviously has to work service problems out, but as he does that other areas of his game are getting stronger to compensate. When they work together the results will come a lot easier.

Besides, anything can happen, including injuries and withdrawals - in this climate especially.

That's why on the AO site draw, under R2 opponents it says:

"opponent unknown."

Best of luck and skill to Coria at the AO - Vamos!

Can i take back what i said, I think Coria has an awesome game, he's great to watch, he's hot as anything, but he's not good to his fans. Today there were about 10 people who wanted an autograph, he signed about 2, and when the kids were calling out 'Coria Coria,' he ignored them, didn't even look at them and kept on walking. And he won the match, and Mirnyi who lost signed everyones, and I wanted a photo and my camera blacked out, he just stood there smiling and waiting for me, and he lost the match. I want coria to do well because he's a great player, but I don't want him to win it, because I'd rather someone who respects their fans wins, even if that means Hewitt because from what I've seen he really does respect his fans. Very disappointed in Guille today

I'm very sorry he didn't stay to sign for you, but I think you are being a little too harsh in judging. I watched some of his matches at USO and there were scores of people waiting to get his autograph. To stay and sign them all would take hours I expect, whereas Mirnyi is probably able to finish it in far less time. From what I've read Mirnyi does seem like a really nice guy and very interesting BTW. Still, Guille can't possibly get to everyone. He could have signed some more, but not all, so where do you draw the line? I knew I had no chance of getting an autograph at the USO, so I didn't even bother to expect it.

It seems you presume he left because he didn't care about his fans, but that is an assumption. You don't know why he left. Maybe he wasn't feeling well or had to use the bathroom e.g. - maybe, maybe not, but the point is how can you judge with such a limited perspective? Sometimes he doesn't spend a lot of time signing, but other times he does. I've heard stories of both from various fans. Maybe you'll still judge from this one occasion, and give up being a fan - that is your perogative of course. Or, you might consider trying in the future at e.g. a scheduled signing. At a signing in Shanghai e.g. I think he stayed for at least an hour signing.

realistically speaking Coria's best chance at winning GS came at RG a few years ago when he was the favorite & lost to Gaudio
he doesnt have many weapons & may not be able to stand a 2 week long course of power serving fro a hot opponent
best of luck to him in the AO

Yeah i totally understand what you're saying. I didn't want an autograph from him, i just wanted to get in a position where i could take a photo of him up close. There were only about 10 kids who wanted an autograph, so it wouldn't have killed him to sign them all. If there were heaps more people I wouldn't have expected him to get around to everyone, but 10 isn't that much. I still like Coria however, his game is great and he's hot as hell, and I would go see him play again, i just don't think his personality is good, thats all.

Guille started a bit rusty, but he played better and better. Luzzi also seemed to lose some energy the longer the match went (which is understandable playing qualifications and the long match in the 1st round).
