I'm throwing Henin in but will be placing the bet tomorrow morning so I'm confirming it on here now.

Andreev X Ancic X Henin @ $???????

I'll quote what the final price was.

Good luck!

Before the markets even came out, I was interested in Rochus, Ancic and Andreev...

Sydney

Andreev looks solid to beat Seppi - if those 2 played on a clay court then I'd expect the Russian to win. Therefore, the situation shouldn't be much different a hard court. Hewitt could have won comfortably but ineptitude hit him. Seppi was "lucky" in some ways (but respect needs to be given for his fighting spirit) and lightning doesn't strike the same place twice - in theory! Add to that the fact that Andreev has a better serve than Hewitt...he shouldn't be broken often.

Don't like the Blake match, although I'd give the American the nod. However, Davydenko's accuracy and patience could well frustrate Blake...

Auckland

Ancic's odds, whilst not totally unexpected, are a little too low for my liking, especially as the guy burned me several times last year. But in his current form you'd have to be daring to bet against him. He riding a wave of confidence after the Davis Cup win last year...and there are some matches that are won more through power. I'd expect the Croat to win in straight sets.

It immediately struck me before looking up the h2h that Rochus could be trouble for the Finn and that is all the more apparent as the Belgian holds a 3/1 h2h lead. He started 2005 superbly on Reebound Ace and looks to be in the same kind of form this year. He should get several chances in the match to make a breakthrough and I believe he will win. I was hoping for odds around 1.83...in light of his h2h record I fear they could slip below 1.70. But it is still worth considering.

Kooyong

Despite its relaxed atmosphere, Roddick will be in no mood to joke around as he seems to value his pride. He has never lost a set to the German in 4 matches and I don't think that will change tomorrow.

Little bit worried about - had no idea his record was that bad. These misfortunes don't go on forever :scared:

Nothing good on the menu today but I am hoping for a decent line on Mario Ancic in the Finals. Regardless of who he plays, he is in the zone right now and should win the Heineken Open.

In Sydney, would you really go against Seppi who is picking up steam on the hardcourts? Also, I don't trust Blake outside of the US but wouldn't bet on Davydenko who has a lifetime losing record on hardcourts.

good luck today guys!

Yeah - I wouldn't say anything sticks out as being certain, but there are a few good leans. Ancic ought to win but I must say I'm a little :scared:

In Sydney, would you really go against Seppi who is picking up steam on the hardcourts?

I'm posting my analysis later on the Andreev match later but...

1. Seppi was "fortunate" to win.
2. He has had treatment on a knee injury...until that knee gets warm in his match today, he will be in some discomfort. That may also explain why he served like WTA.
3. Okay, he beat Hewitt...but he hasn't beaten any other "threatening" player this week.
4. Andreev has a better serve than Hewitt - 1 break might be enough for a set. Add to that the fact that he can match Seppi stroke for stroke on court. 5. He has firmly established himself as a top 30 player based on his last 6 months' results - I'd say he is in-form.
6. He has beaten better quality opposition on his way to the SF.
7. He is obviously not as tired as I thought he was a couple of days ago...beat Tursunov fairly convincingly. I therefore feel that he is fitter for today's match.
8. He has played several finals of late...Seppi will have his first crack at a final today and so the match will not be so routine for him.
9. How many times has a player who has had a breakthrough win followed it up with a loss to someone a fair bit lower? So many times.
10. Aus Open is next week and he might be more interested in ensuring he is fit enough for it.

Of course there are probably numerous reasons why he could win, but I'm just trying to provide some helpful arguments! ;)

Also, I don't trust Blake outside of the US but wouldn't bet on Davydenko who has a lifetime losing record on hardcourts.

Leaving that match well alone mate - I haven't an inkling who will win. Incredibly, both have had a walkover each.

Okay you're not helping me now!

I rate Andreev better than Blake for this match - up. Seppi probably treated his match with Blake as a clay court match...against Andreev I expect he will have more trouble. Essentially, I see today's match as a clay court match on a neutral hard surface. Simple case of who is better on clay - Andreev. Hopefully he will keep up the good record against the Italian. ;)

to play devil's advocate a little bit...Seppi is 10-8 lifetime on hardcourts and 17-15 on clay courts. Andreev is 19-24 lifetime on hardcourts (losing record compared to Seppi's winning record on the surface) and he is 36-26 on clay courts. To be honest, I give a small advantage to the very confident Seppi but again, I am staying away.

But Andreev lost more matches because he faced better opponents, since he is way better in the rankings than Seppi.

Hmmm I'm not comfortable going head to head with you mate, but I have no choice as I hit the play some 6 hours ago!! :haha:

I still believe in Andreev...hopefully when I wake up in the morning my dignity will be intact ;)
