GLAMOROUS INDIE ROCK'N'ROLL CHALLENGER
alias
KGHM EMAX POLISH INDOORS OPEN CHALLENGER ATP WROCłAW 2006

I just wanted this thread to be mine before the entry list comes. :devil: I know it should be on 17th Jan but I hope to manage to get to a pre-date exam on 18th, taking a few exercise tests in the middle so I might have no time to sleep, not even speaking about creating a thread before anybody else.

And it's my city and my challenger and it's going to be cool :yeah: And my friends from different parts of country are coming... yay... :drool:

And I should work in the press office, of course :yeah:

THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE IS www.kghm-atp.pl but I fear it's only in Polish
(I can give you few lessons of Polish when I have time and before the tournament starts :cool: )

alright, seems like I can be here where I am until 6 p.m. CET . So it's the time for the introduction to Polish language.

It's not difficult. Just try to listen to the song Pudelsi - "Mundialeiro" and you will get everything in a minute. It's also a friendly language for the tourist, when you step outside of my dormitory, you see the shop

"FAMILIA - 24 h - ALKOHOLE"

You know that you can get everything what a student does need.
================================================== ======================

LESSON 1 (out of 2 I guess - depends on if you want to learn :lol: )
"Challenger vocabulary"

Halowy (Indoors) Międzynarodowy (International) Zawodowy (Professional) Turniej (Tournament) Tenisowy (of Tennis) Mężczyzn (for Men)

informacje = informations
rozgrywki = game / matches / schedule will be there etc.
zawodnicy = players
sponsorzy = i told you Polish was easy
media = see point "sponsorzy"
galeria = :cool: - guess...

do rozpoczęcia turnieju pozostało 30 dni = there are 30 days to start the tournament
Kubot triumfuje w Katarze = Kubot wins in Katar
gra pojedyncza = singles
gra podwójna = doubles
eliminacje = quallies
wyniki = scores
wyniki do druku = printable scores
plan gier = schedule
punkty i pieniądze = points and money
turniej VIP = a place where I cannot enter

meet the first family of words :yeah:
sędzia = umpire
sędziowie = umpires
sędzia liniowy = linesman
sędziowie liniowi = linesmen
sędzina liniowa = lineswoman (some say "sędzia liniowa")
sędziny liniowe = lineswomen (here you can't say "sędzie liniowe")

*Ljubica*

LOL - thanks for the lessons Nathi :hug: When I've ever been in Poland I've found reading the language relatively easy - but pronouncing it is a complete nightmare :unsure: Enjoy your Challenger!

And I'll be on the challenger too, which means it's going to be interesting no matter what :p And it will be even more interesting if I see Koellerer and knock him down on court (Nathaliia will have a story to write about ;))
I only hope for lots of Czechs :lol: A Spaniard would do, too, but that's too much to dream of.
Right now I'm as busy as hell to have everything done before the tournament starts.

ps. Nathii, nice lessons. Just one thing... you don't say "informations" but "information" ;) sorry... :awww: blame it on my job...

ps. Nathii, nice lessons. Just one thing... you don't say "informations" but "information" ;) sorry... :awww: blame it on my job...
:ras:

i have just passed the first part of quallification to the History of Philosophical and Political Theories pre-date (next Wednesday :scared: ) with the highest grade (it means I'm into the next step of selection)
so who's the boss :cool: ? ;)

Of course I must stand on my head but get to this pre-date and pass it cause....... then I wouldn't have to struggle against it during the event :rolleyes:

and besides this exam is famous of being very very difficult, while the professor doesn't even hide how spiteful he is :rolleyes: there's nothing easier than to fail it, even if you're well prepared.
(Prof. Maciejewski: "Prof. Adamiak /very very famous lady/ said I was the biggest bastard at this faculty. Well, maybe she wasn't too far from the truth, but I still think she is worse even than me")

And as about Spaniards, who knows, Albert Costa signed into some European indoors entry lists :shrug:

================
Lesson 2 = PRONOUNCIATION !!!

It is very difficult, but let's help Rosie read signs when she visits us again.

Wrocław = Vrotsuav ;)
wódka (means: vodka) = voodka
piwo (means: beer) = pivo

How to say "Dzień dobry" (good morning) and "Kocham cię" (I love you) it's good to hear the song by Strachy na Lachy with the title: "Dzień dobry, kocham cię" (very original title but the song is good).
:yeah: :bigwave:

kataanna

"Dzień dobry, kocham cię"
Mmmmm one of my favourites lately ;)

Costa wouldn't be bad at all :D Unless he bumps into Olej in the 1st round ;) (Let's assume he gets through the quallies). I was hoping for David Marrero, but 1) I'm not sure about his rank and Wroclaw's cut off 2) There's a ch. in Italy in the same week
Perhaps Ferrero will come if he keeps losing like today :p (very bad joke ;))
BUT I'd love to see Alex Corretja :)
Ok, now that I've woken up, I'll get to checking who really can come :p

Btw. I'm so tired today after the weekend that my eyes are watering and I don't know how am I going to go on... I can't write at nights, 'cos at work I have to be at least half-conscious :rolleyes: How I miss being only a student... partying at night, sleeping on lectures and still being able to pass the exams :hysteric:

nathaliia :yeah:

I had a friend born in poland with whom I used to jam in a music band. He tried to learn me polish but I'm afraid to say that I don't even remember one word :o

So you'll have to be patient with some of your students...I've decided to learn one word per week. Today I focuse on "alkohole" :)

Hello :wavey: Kasia :wavey: Pixie :bigwave:
========================
NEWS FROM THE BACKGROUND :
The press conference about the tournament will be on 19th January at 11 a.m. in Warsaw and at 7 p.m. in Wrocław - in the club "Związki" (związki = relationships). I am planning my future from one hour to another, but the most likely I will be there. As about Kasia and Emilia's stay in Wrocław, I've heard they found something in the center. It's far from the courts, but close to all the clubs.

LESSON 3
To make Pixie's life easier, let's point at some nice things today.
And let's use the numbers, too.
For today's lesson I invited a cool umpire, Mister Mo Lahyani.

Nathaliia: So, what do you think of Poland?
Mo Lahyani: Trzydzieści - czterdzieści (30-40)

*on the court* (na korcie)
zero - piętnaście = 0-15
przewaga Przysiężny = advantage Przysiężny
równowaga = deuce
gem = game
nowe piłki = new balls

*in the pub* (w pubie)
Ile kosztuje duże piwo? = How much is the big beer?
Sześć złotych = 6 PLN (= 1,40 Euro)
Poproszę małe piwo = Small beer please.
Tyskie? Warka? Lech? = (you may here from the barman - he names the brands of beer he has)
Trzy pięćdziesiąt = 3,50 PLN.

*At the disco* (na dyskotece; disco = dyskoteka)
Czy pójdziesz ze mną do łóżka... = Voulez-vous couche avec moi...
...dziś wieczorem? = ce soir?
(you may hear:)
Odpierdol się, bo zawołam policję / ochronę / mojego chłopaka = Piss off, or I'll call the police / the security / my boyfriend.

*in Wrocław* (we Wrocławiu)
miasto tysiąca mostów = city of a thousand bridges
pocałuję cię sto razy jeśli wygrasz turniej = I'll kiss you a hundred times if you win the tournament
w mojej książce jest dziewięć milionów konserwatystów = there are nine million conservatives in my book
kościół = church
tu jest dużo kościołów = there are many churches in here
Hala Ludowa = People's Hall (gonna be signed to UNESCO soon) : the matches will be there
Hala AZS = place for quallies and some main draw matches
Hala Madrid = uhmmm Real Madrid fans only (not for me)
akademik = dormitory
Dzień dobry, czy jest Nathaliia? - good morning, is Nathaliia there?
totalny kataklizm = me and my younger cousin Bartek

awww I guess I need lessons of written French. I was only hearing that from the French guys, nobody really wrote it to me on the card :tape:

girlfriend = dziewczyna
pieniądze = money
Polska = Poland
detal, szczegół = detail
wszystko = everything
czas = time

Hi Pete,
As you know I was having quite a long conversation with Younes in Aachen and, which was obvious, one my first questions was if he was planning to come to Poland and suggested Wrocław as it's my city.
He said he would love to come and he was seriously thinking about it, if there was no Davis Cup at this time.
But an experienced player always says to journalists what they want to hear. It's definitely the biggest event of week 6... so, let's see. Maybe he can make a direct entry.

As about the Wild Cards, from what I know all will be given to Polish players (it's organizatiors' will) but I believe it won't be like this and we'll have at least one real deal star and Younes can be one.
(or Costa will really sign in and they will be 100% satisfied... then :rolleyes: not that I have smth to Costa - no, I like him a lot... but I though maybe someone from top 30 :confused: )

Labamba

I'll sign up for this course, if there's still a place left for one more hard-working (I promise :angel: ) student? :D

I've taken the first three lessons now and my first impression of Polish language is very good. I can already say that I like it. My two favourite words so far are przewaga and pieniądze (don't know why, maybe cause they sound like Finnish words). Hopefully I can speak a few sentences in Polish after these lessons. :)

And Nathii, I liked the picture you had before 'Brazil' much much more... ;)

Nathaliia
01-12-2006, 10:34 PM
maitosuklaa.

Before Brazil i had "Vamos Argentina" but I guess you didn't mean that one ;)
I'm happy to see you online again, I thought you're very busy at uni and without time for posting. It's more or less just like me, but when you must look up to Jarkko, I must look up to my challenger.

Henna (my friend from Savonlinna) says her favourite word in Polish is "OKNO" (window). She was also astonished to hear the way Wrocław should be pronounced, and her faith thought-to-be-right pronounciation of "Małysz" was destroyed.

Adam Małysz = Adam Mauysh (should sound like this) not Adam Malyz !!!!

LOL Nathii your lessons are awesome :D I'm starting to regret that I already know Polish :lol: And Mo :worship:

Wish I could go to the press conference (got an official notice about 2 hours after I sent the accreditation form ;) ) but I have to be at work... and I don't think there will be another conference in the first week of February...

And I'd love to see Younes... I wanna have a crazy photo with him :p Guess what... Tabara will be here for 95% (not difficult to guess :lol:)

Btw. the thing about the clubs... :yeah: at least Emilia and me won't get lost sometime in the early morning :angel:

ps. anybody to teach me Swedish? ;)

Nathaliia
01-14-2006, 10:20 AM
and I don't think there will be another conference in the first week of February...
Maybe official introducing the wild cards? I've heard all will go to the Poles, but they counted Matka and Fryta, and boys should be in South America that time!
After the new people came to the factory KGHM, many things changed at the challenger this year, too. They really should invite someone famous and on fire.

Guess what... Tabara will be here for 95% (not difficult to guess :lol:)
D. told you or you're guessing? Yeah I think he'll be here. Unfortunately, Gaba is seriously injured. :sad: He won't come. And he's entertaining to watch (far more than Tabara for instance).

Btw. the thing about the clubs... :yeah: at least Emilia and me won't get lost sometime in the early morning :angel:
Hahaha... so long only "Daytona" is opened I guess! I fear we'll be forced to land up in "Daytona" one day (one night :lol: ). It's the market square. Near your place there' a Milkhouse Cafe ("Mleczarnia" :p) - the best hot choco in Wrocław and they don't cheat on vodka in drinks. It's difficult to get a place there but I swear to take you there at least once (unless you prefered "Daytona" or "Związki" for obvious reasons).

ps. anybody to teach me Swedish? ;)
I think some Swedes should come :shrug: They always come. But this year the one who should come most of all, has got a terrible rank. No chance he'll be on the list.

oh, don't get me wrong, i think Koellerer and Labadze will be really the people "ones to watch" - if Labadze doesn't withdraw. Many things are to appreciate this guy for and I don't know if I should write them in public, even knowing he doesn't bother people watching him.

I think the most characteristic for Labadze in Wrocław was being disqualified for .... giving a solid beat to the chair umpire :scared:

I'm not answering questions about my honey, we have "the quiet days" :haha:

Yeah Hernych is very cool... I saw him in 2003. And I had a picture with him after the final... he lost then but still was very nice for me...

I don't even remember seeing Kohlschreiber in Sopot <lol>
But you surely remember "come on Chris!" :haha: I wonder if Chris comes to us again hahahaha....... Gosh I do wonder who will play doubles here!

WILD CARDS
I was yesterday at the press conference. I fear I was the "most into tennis" person between all of gathered, including the organizators. They say the wild cards go to: Michał Przysiężny (because he's a national hall champ), Adam Chadaj (because he's awesome), Dawid Olejniczak (because they don't know he's already signed to Australia :yeah: :haha: ) and the winner of contest between young players from the region (because the organizator thinks his son is going to win it).

Chadaj probably can make it even from the ALT list... Olej can't play... last card not given... looks like even despite they say trading cards is something terrible (well... not minding the fact I would like to see someone from top 50 who BOUGHT the card, they are still right), in the last time the cards will be given to unknown people like Hungarian double player of Kubot (like last year) or others who rather can't be attractive enough to make people come to Hala Ludowa. Filip Urban feels it, that's why he signed to France futures at the time of playing Q in Wrocław. It's very likely he can get a WC to the main event anyway.

CooCooCachoo

I still think Olejniczak will play Wroclaw.

And Kisgyorgy is a reasonably known player.

The fact our guys in doubles did so well... is building and I'm happy :yeah: but now who... the hero Santoro with his partner Nenad Z. :sad:

BUT THE FACT TOMMY FINISHED HIS CAREER TOTALLY SUCKS :( I COULDN'T BELIEVE AND I STILL CAN'T !!!!
I sent him an e-mail, maybe we can figure out some more information about this sad fact :sobbing:

Nathaliia
01-23-2006, 01:01 PM
talking about Matka / Frytka.... the official AO site put a note :angel:

Fabrice Santoro may be through to his maiden Grand Slam singles quarter-final at Australian Open 2006, but the greater workload has perhaps taken its toll on his doubles ambitions, with the two-time Melbourne Park men's doubles champion bowing out with his Serbian partner Nenad Zimonjic on Day Eight.

Santoro partnered fellow Frenchman Michael Llodra to the 2003 and 2004 Australian titles, but the 33-year-old and Zimonjic, the No.5 seeds, were unable to book their place in the quarter-finals, with Poles Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski winning 7-5 7-5 on Show Court 2.

With the victory Fyrstenberg and Matkowski will now play local Ashley Fisher and American Justin Gimelstob for a spot in the semi-finals after the pair tamed Belgian Christophe Rochus and Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka 6-1 3-6 6-3 on Day Seven.

Our guys' fastest serve was 222 km / h and they hit 80% of 1st serve. So I guess it was not only Santoro's tiredness as many people say. I don't know what to expect from the next match.... Surely soooooo difficult, much worse than this one cos Fisher happens to be an Aussie though and Slam is in Aussie land not in Sopot :lol:, Wrocław or wherever here

BTW i wonder if we be fancied to see Frytka's bro around on Wrocław's courts. :angel: :haha: :lol: :aparty:

Najlepsi polscy debliści: Mariusz Fyrstenberg

Emax Polish Indoors (z pulą nagród 125 tys. euro). Obaj tenisiści
otrzymali we wtorek od organizatorów "dzikie karty" uprawniające
ich do gry w singlu.

Debliści mieli nie przyjeżdżać do stolicy Dolnego Śląska,
ponieważ nie chciano przydzielić im "dzikich kart". Organizator

Olejniczakowi. Decyzja o tym kto otrzyma ostatnią przepustkę do
turnieju głównego miała zapaść tuż przed rozpoczęciem imprezy.

"Po awansie Fyrstenberga i Matkowskiego do półfinału Australian
Open organizatorzy wrocławskiego turnieju podjęli błyskawiczną
decyzję o zaproszeniu ich do imprezy. Było to możliwe, ponieważ
Olejniczak zrezygnował z jednej z +dzikich kart+, a ostatnia wciąż
pozostawała do dyspozycji organizatorów turnieju" - powiedział
rzecznik prasowy KGHM Emax Polish Indoors, Jakub Kowalski.

Olejniczak sam wzial sie zglosil do Australii...

(sorry for Polish but our foreign guys treat it as another lesson of language)

Schüttler is in the Daviscup team. I really thought this time Kohlschreiber would get the nomination, he must be angry. Obviously Schüttler would be the replacement in doubles for Haas, if Haas was too tired to play on 3 days. But the captain still doesn't see that Petzschner is much better than Schüttler (and Waske) in doubles. :devil:

Kasia, don't be an egoist, think about my boss. Not only his little employee Nathaliia is totally sick, she has a failed exam (today yeah :rolleyes: ), her parents are :fiery: and she must hide the action of working at the tourney as crazy,
now the main attraction withdraws. Good that Matka / Frytka are in, because the organizators wouldn't have anyone to advertise the event with :lol:
One day more and the main heroes will be Panfil / Koniusz.

And I don't have power to even act the main attraction.

It's a pitty that with such high prize money we have so few good players and no star, I believe. They should postpone DC, I think :p Still, it isn't that bad, I'm starting to be optimistic from now on :D We've got Minar, Simon, Kunitsyn, Marach... Koellerer :lol: I mean we don't need our faves to play here and cry because of Daniel, do we? We will probably have Benneteau and maybe Tabara (though I'm probably the only one who's crazy about it :p). Still, I'm disappointed Rainer won't play here, he would be an easy first round for some Pole maybe :lol:

Kunitsyn got direct entry to US this week and he should stay there, I predict his withdrawal is a thing of hours.
However he played Wrocław several times and seems to like it. Navarro Pastor is in South America so he should withdraw, too... I don't remember what's about Marach.
Those Alternate guys Pless and Darcis are injured :lol:

I see nobody getting a SE because it's given for someone who's on alternate list and in this case made a semifinal in French challenger now and couldn't come for Q to Poland.

Friday 3rd February, 10.30 a.m. CET

music: The White Stripes: "My doorbell" :rocker2:

Oh I'm thinkin'bout the doorbell, when you gonna ring it, when you gonna ring it? As for now, I had only one ring, but not to the door, but on my mobile phone and I was informed I had a sexy voice. Wouldn't consider my sick throat sexy itself, but this is the day when I should really make something of the thing I am in nightclothes, tissues and medicine. Yesterday I won some money on betting, today I'm going to take it and it should be enough for a hairdresser.

My problems are nothing comparing to problems that Kasia has at the moment. She's travelling by train with the company of some Ukrainian strangers. No, not that she's scared, she's adventurous enough. Perhaps that's why she decided to make some research if any of them happens to be Sergei Stakhovsky. Unfortunately none is. Not everybody has this luck to travel by train with Juan Antonio Marin like I did last year. I'm not trying to tell you Marin was something extraordinary, but his coach was cute to look at.

I shall first eat my breakfast (I don't know how it happens, but generally eating breakfasts is integral part of the majority of tennis-related blogs), then pack bags, take a taxi, then take a bus to Wrocław (yeah I am home - 50 km away), then go to my faculty to take back my students' book with notification about the failed exam (perhaps it's the most interesting part of this entry for the readers) and rush to the railway station to meet Kasia, but also Emilia (arrives 20 minutes later) and Świder (a linesman = I allow you to blame him for all bad calls, he's used to it).

What will be next - I don't know. One thing is sure, the most alcoholic thing I'm about to drink tonight is Coca Cola. It's quite useful when you're trying to clean your jewelery, maybe will help with my throat as well.

The ceremony of quallies draw is at 21.00 local time, but we don't know if we should go there. However it's still nice to see 32 faces of different Polish players being happy they all managed to make it to the quallies. Some even may be suspected of heading off for Cola after us - but we won't be able to check out until the night comes.

Do u want a weird story of these Ukranian players :p ;)

At Universiade last year,(where I met Filip Urban,Radoslaw Nijaki ( :hearts: ),Olga Brozda ( :kiss: ) and Monika Schneider ( :drool: ) I also saw four Ukranian players.

Yaroshenko and Tereschuk (Both playing here) and two lady,Oxana Lyubtsova and one where I forgot her name. All of them were bit bitchies I am afraid :rolleyes: on and off court :tape:

Anyway before afternoon session I was staying on a chair between two courts.

at one there were Lauren Breadmore and a South African lady was hitting,and other four Ukranian players were practising doubles on other court,they werent side by side but was pretty near.

At one shot ball hit side of Lauren's racquet and ball went so high up and dropped to near of Tereschuk.

What did he do?laughed and than got the ball on his pocket and didnt give to Lauren again :rolleyes: four players than talked something in Ukranian and laughed for minutes :tape:,Lauren asked twice for her practice ball but couldnt get it back :o

At same stage Oxana had a really devilish look to Lauren (Than I realised they had meet few times on ITF circuit and had problems on their matches between them :p :devil: )

Few minutes later Ukranian's ball dropped on Lauren's court by awful frame smash of other girl.

Lauren said "Here we go dear bitch" and got his ball under her skirt :haha: :rolls: :haha:

YAROSHENKO, Sergei UKR d. (1) HADAD, Amir ISR 67(10) 76(3) 63
Hadad threw his racket in the first game already and it was a good forecast for the rest of the match. As I wrote in the article on the website, it was a problem to move for him, he's kinda Davenport but no it's not a compliment. In the second set he took a break because he did smth to his finger, but I just think he wanted to take some air and get some rest. No chance, he's too fat and no condition he has. Yaroshenko was lucky. I'm curious what will happen tomorrow against Koniusz. Koniusz played well and isn't without chances. I wonder what is Hadad's coach doing this night.

(WC) KONIUSZ, Blazej POL d. OWSIAN, Kacper POL 75 63
Koniusz is a talent. Perhaps so is Owsian, but Koniusz will be one of the "higher ranked" Polish players soon. Remember he's Australian Open doubles juniors champion. His game is powerful and he looks confident, at least against a compatriot. He hasn't played senior events so I'm looking forward to the next round.

STANCIK, Jan SVK d. LOJDA, Dusan CZE 76(2) 76(8)
Oh Lojda doesn't have a psyche ... looking at him it doesn't look like he had anything eye-catching except his dyed blonde hair. He's in junior top ten but just didn't have his day i believe.

(8) CHRAMOSTA, Ladislav CZE d. HASEK, Jakub CZE 64 26 76(3)
long match... it was the far court and i didn't see it.

(2) DELGADO, Jamie GBR v (WC) MACH, Andrzej POL 60 63
Oh, Jamie in shape. Andrzej (our friend :rolleyes: ) had his foot injured, but I think the score wouldn't have been much higher if his foot was alright. Jamie at the net, Jamie regular from baseline, both playing one-handed backhand. Quite awesome to watch.

(WC) TERCZYNSKI, Bartosz POL d. WALKOW, Michal POL 63 60
The organizator's son if out. I don't think it's good for the tournament. I am serious.

(WC) GAWRON, Marcin POL v GRUNES, Christian GER W/O

Dilaj in a good shape... He kept the rallys and from the half of second set started to be regular and end them with winners ;) because until then Svarc took everything and contrattacked. I didn't see the last set but perhaps it was just Maciej's domination.

(3) ZELENAY, Igor SVK v FRELICH, Petr CZE 62 62
I haven't seen this match, gotta see Zelenay tomorrow.

POKRYWKA, Marek POL d. (WC) SWINDER, Maciej POL 75 63
Pokrywka isn't a bad player for local scale... That's why he won, but you know these matches... someone who even seems talented loses everything while facing someone better or from abroad.

DEVOTY, Theodor CZE v LIPKA, Dariusz POL 63 61
Oh. You remember Lipka from my Aachen reports. Do I need to add more.

(5) KRALERT, Petr CZE d. SUBOTA, Jan CZE 64 64
Haven't seen it.

(4) MASIK, Jan CZE v (WC) KWASNIEWICZ, Jakub POL 62 60
Embarassing, really. Score gives the match level and the difference between both players.

NIJAKI, Radoslaw POL v KUTAC, Roman CZE 67(4) 75 61
I was impressed by Radek Nijaki ;) His game was very strong and lucky, reached the corners! And he didn't break down after the close lost set! What's more, Kutac wasn't playing bad. The match was interesting.

ROSOL, Lukas CZE d. (WC) GUSKA, Karol POL 61 60
I didn't see it and I feel happy about it.

(7) TERESHCHUK, Orest UKR d. PANFIL, Grzegorz POL 67(7) 64 62
Oh - Tereshchuk was the one who didn't close the locker room before getteing naked (totally naked) after the match (yes the door was opened... i thought it's a room for linesmen so i just had a QUICK look but after i realized it was NOT a room for linesmen i immediately hid myself in the toilet.
And as about the match... Panfil is our biggest talent. He can play strongly from baseline, but also can play lifted backhand and serve and volley. His volley is good, has got passing shots... He's quite tell and very fit, so reaches difficult balls to defend. He's just not regular and makes small outs. His serve's very good, too. I am very unhappy he lost. He's a good young boy and I wish him all the best. Perhaps it was Tereshchuk (this naked thing)'s serve... it stareted to wrok perfectly at one moment.

OK THANK YOU ;) SEE YOU TOMORROW !!!

:haha:

:eek:

What a story :eek:

But Lyubtsova and Breadmore have never met :shrug:

Amir :smash: :sad: So much talent going to waste.

Expected Dusan to win this :fiery:

DILAJ, Maciej POL d. (6) SVARC, Ladislav SVK 36 64 61
Dilaj in a good shape... He kept the rallys and from the half of second set started to be regular and end them with winners ;) because until then Svarc took everything and contrattacked. I didn't see the last set but perhaps it was just Maciej's domination.

Ladislav :eek: Will have only one highlight in his career, I guess :shrug:

DEVOTY, Theodor CZE v LIPKA, Dariusz POL 63 61

Yes, cause I don't remember :p

My friend who also works at the event wrote a funny article about Lipka. According to it, he's got better backhand than forehand and trains at JCF's Academy. This is the one thing and the fuss I remember from Aachen is the second thing.

He received a sudden WC there and I've been told then JCF personally called and asked for a WC for him :eek: but when I had a chance to interview Younes El Aynaoui (he crashed Lipka in MD) he said this wild card was just bought and a player like him should buy better cards to quallies, because when the match started Lipka just didn't know what is happening around.

My other friend who's a journalist compared his match from Sopot Q 2003 and today (I haven't seen today's match) and said Dariusz is sadly moving backwards.
I think he's not going to make a career, just like his brother, who also practised at JCF's.

Btw about Tereschuk "naked" body :p

What are u talking about,I had never seen him shirtless apart from matches believe me in Universiade :eek:

Always,always was shirtless...

And sometimes also took his shorts off and had a chat with Yaroshenko on grass with only his underwear :p :o

If I am not wrong he has surely a necklace,dont remember what was it but we had see his body all the time :o

But to be honest wasnt a bad one,pretty fit and tall :angel: ;)

One of them ( i don't know which one) lost to 55-60 year old coach in amateur event in Gdansk i think 3-4 years ago. There were a lot of people ( mostly old coaches :lol: ) and saw that match. Now they're laughing when they see her names in the draws :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

Sunday 5th February 2006, 10.40 p.m. CET

I assume I haven't blogged for a while and I was PM'ed several times to keep you updated. OK. It looks like you want the details but you don't feel courageous enough to post here, and I don't find a reason why should one know more than the rest or why should I write things I shouldn't indeed.

The short resume from Friday already counted the second self of Irakli Labadze, called Amir Hadad. What' the funniest, Amir reacted while being called "Irakli" from the stands so I suppose the girls and I weren't the first ones to confuse those two. What was the funniest thing, we accused him of feeding in worldwide junkfood place, and in the end landed there ourselves when we wanted to save the time.

On Saturday I wrote that Tereshchuk got naked and showed it to the world (consisted mainly of linesmen, but also of me - ACCIDENTALY). Kasia wrote they wanted vodka and not that I am saying anything (yeah) but the guys appeared at 11.20 a.m. on court, and started their practise session with sitting on the desk and enjoying theirselves with the mineral water.

No, it's not true I will have to do the same tomorrow.

I mean I should be at work at 10 a.m. CET to finally take my pass cos I'm walking without.

Today was a very boring day when it came to matches and especially disappointed when it comes to the Poles. Perhaps my conversations with Jamie Delgado were the essence of today in the court area, like when Jamie was reading a book about golf with appropiate drawing on it and assured me "It's about tennis, too". I was told hundreds of times James Auckland would be arriving and finally he did, but I haven't spoken to him until the supper. It was very cultural of him to feed himself with a cap on the head, but I just promised myself to not comment the players' habits since Chucho Acasuso pointed at me with his finger when I was sitting just one place in the row abvove. I almost cried about my exam, so it was nothing interesting, and we exchanged the thoughts about why Wrocław couldn't be an ATP tournament (only once court in People's Hall) and why Wrexham challenger was "nothing interesting" (lightly saying). James also heard the news he could have a flight from Britain to Wrocław for 5 Euros. The most sad moment happened when we were discussing the hotels and I accidentaly recalled the thing with Mikael Ryderstedt and Jamie said what a great guy he was, I got sad and I am until now. I miss him like hell and I would give much to be in Dallas instead of here. What's the funniest, Mikael told Jamie the same story once that I told him this evening.

Oh gosh. Hold me or I will cry.

Anybody out there to hug me?

Nevermind.

Then the girls and I and Mariusz Fyrstenberg's brother had a long, sincere interview about everything in life with Matka / Frytka - at the restaurant. I just can't believe the half of cassette is laughing and I was laughing out loud as well. We were also listening to different stories about Daniel Koellerer, it makes me even more sad about the fact he's not coming (apart from the fact about his father, I know how it hurts, my father was in hospital a year ago :sad: ). You don't want to hear these stories. Or maybe you want, but too much. Later we talked to Michał Przysiężny, Adam Chadaj, Radek Nijaki and Maciek Diłaj. I took a picture of Chadaj / Nijaki / Diłaj in front of :tape: - you will see on the pic :tape:. Ialso wished good luck to Dick Norman from PatatRiek (his girlfriend was quite :retard: maybe because I was quitte'a lass today) and I talked to Tomas Cakl because my friend from Stockholm asked him to come again as his party company was good then. Cakl was very nice even though said to be a weirdo and just crazy. He was listening to Ipod at the time of dinner.

We could have stayed at the hotel, but you kno - work is work, I had to listen to the interview from Kasia's tape and take notes... while Kasia and Emilia had to write a full interview version for the website.

Kindest greetings from the top blogger of ATP,
Nathaliia

Time for on-court reports and it's not gonna to be many!

YAROSHENKO, Sergei UKR d. (WC) KONIUSZ, Blazej POL 6-1 6-2
It was sad for me to watch. So many people gathered in the small stand to celebrate the juniors AO champion and he lost disgracefully to the hangovered Ukrainian. Błażej showed us two different kinds of shots - one group provided shots wide or long, and the second group was about to pack them all in the net. He as the person to lose the match, not Yaroshenko to win.

(8) CHRAMOSTA, Ladislav CZE d. STANCIK, Jan SVK 6-4 7-5
One guy was dressed in a fluorescent green shit and blue panties, the second was wearing the same shade f blue shirt, but his panties were white. Both were having more imagination than skills and both were making more unforced errors than winners (crossed out, written "anything else"). Time after time the one in the blue shirt "played a Nalbandian" from forehand or double-handed backhand to the right conrnet of the court. He also used more power in his game. In the end, he turned out to be Jan Stancik (according to some interested enough chicks) and he lost.

(2) DELGADO, Jamie GBR d. (WC) TERCZYNSKI, Bartosz POL 6-2 6-2
Jamie :D Jamie was reading a book about golf before this match ("It's also about tennis, you know") and didn't even try to concentrate as much as yesterday. All the free time he spent on sending SMS to James Auckland if he's already here (each time he got the same answer: "I'll be here in 15 minutes"). Bartosz Terczynski is a talented thing but came to the court scared as hell and so the match looked like. I had a dinner while the match happening, but I don't think it was anything more than just Jamie few times more experienced. If you ask about his serve, he often used second serve but it was enough. His match against Diłaj would be interesting.Bartek tried to serve and volley - but you know: it needs experience and not just some general idea. When the opponent plays ball harder than fellow juniors in your club, you can't do anything.

DILAJ, Maciej POL d. (WC) GAWRON, Marcin POL 6-4 6-3
Very interesting match, perhaps the best match today, mainly because of Gawron. I haven't seen him befre, but I read positive opinions about this junior player, who had to face the 27 y.o. older brother of the tennis playing twins (currently on scholarships in US). Maciek Diłaj, despite his age, is improving from tournament to tournament and he's aggressive and can keep up in rallys. Gawron lacked regularity from the baseline and was surprised by the sudden rotation changes by Diłaj. He was just used to srong "bang-bang" even from one corner to another. A sudden dropshot or topspin changed the situation. Will it be enough for Jamie Delgado? We hope no. We want at least one Pole in the main draw after quallies (and I need something to write about).

(3) ZELENAY, Igor SVK d. POKRYWKA, Marek POL 6-3 7-6
Two years ago the most interesting thing about Zelenay was the thing that he had shirt from Adidas and panties from Nike, this year he's got all clothes from Adidas. He hasn't changed his style - serve and goes to net at times, while Pokrywka plays a strong game. Last year in Q he played 3 sets against Alex Hartman from Sweden (yes I was supporting Hartman). This year the strong support for surprisingly talented local Pokrywka wasn't enough for the more regular Zelenay.

(5) KRALERT, Petr CZE d. DEVOTY, Theodor CZE 3-6 6-1 7-6
I haven't seen much. Sorry.

(4) MASIK, Jan CZE d. NIJAKI, Radoslaw POL 7-6 6-4
I was writing a text then so I haven't seen it, I only know Radek one day complained abou his bellyache problems (one that match), today he was coughing just like me and showing up with "Coldrex" so I guess it was for him the big deal to go and fight, like it was for me at my failed exam. :(

(7) TERESHCHUK, Orest UKR d. ROSOL, Lukas CZE 6-4 7-5
Hmm... Tereshchuk isn't that bad.. ;) I didn't see too much to write. I think I wrote enough from today anyway.

Kindest greetings,
Nathaliia

match Kubot - Fyrstenberg is a mystery for all here and we are curious how it will develop. it's hard to predict scores, Polish players and the girls and my friends here hope for Frytka and we are going to support him, but remember Kubot is a local player, there will be the full hall to support him even the VIPs will (i am sure, it's every year like that). But they are two Poles though... :rolleyes: Frytka is in good shape, recent AO semifinalist. Kubot won in singles only one match this year - against El Maamoun (or smth) but he... was great in doubles too! like reaching Doha final with Marach.
You can mind Kubot had bad beginnings of last years and the breakthrough moment was always Wrocław (2 weeks after Wrocław last year he played Joplin chall final). I havent seen any practise sessions of guys, Fryta arrived y-day and so did Kubot. Lukasz is with his parents and girlfriend, Fryta is with his brother and Matkowski ;).
The choice is yours guys, I can only wish you good luck but I wish more luck to FrytkA.
y-day i talked to m/f and they both said they can win the singles matches.

I must leave the omputer soon and we're heading to the disco, but I think I'll manage to translate the promised report from the match Delgado - Diłaj.

Out of 14 Poles signed to the Q draw only Maciej Diłaj qualified to the last round. Unfortunately, his rival won - Jamie Delgado from UK, seeded 2. The score was 7-6 (1) 7-6 (2).

Before the match started, Delgado's compatriot, doubles player James Auckland said: "The winner will be only one. And he's not Polish". He was not mistaken, even though the match beginning could have given hopes to quite many people gathered in the AZS Hall. Diłaj wasn't afraid, risky attacked, played strong. Sometimes his troubles were caused by bad body balance, especially during long rallys. He lacked only half of twist, and the ball stuck in the net instead of landing on the other side of the court. The opponent showed classic British tennis - slice and rush to the net. He started the match, like after Andrzej Mach (gave him3 games) and Bartosz Terczynski (gave him 4 games) he received another Pole for some kind of breakfast. He was brought back to Earth quite quikly, what allowed him only to keep his serve and wait how would the things develop. The biggest crisis came to an Englishman at the state of 3-3, when 6 games were played so far and the set wasn't finished yet. Under following circumstances, Diłaj earned a break, encouraged by the crowd, but immediately lost it while leading 5-4. It was caused by his opponent's game improvement (more concentrated), but also the change of the attitude by the Pole. He accepted the stoic mentality, by waiting for what fortune brings at the baseline. He shouted to himself in tie-break: "Go to net!" and laughed like Doda Elektroda - though game at the net brought him many points, but he still stayed in the back like builded down and lost the last game to one. The seond set was the copy of the first (but without breaks) - attractive shots from both sides until the tie-break, when they belonged only to one player, who was, to sadness of the local people, Jamie Delgado. Owner of hairstyle a'la Andre Agassi suffers of Wrocław's terrible frost, but after the won match he should look at the weather with the better eye.

Nathaliia
02-06-2006, 10:51 PM
I think I should write about Matkowski to you. It was his hit-or-miss crazy serve and game. Most were missed. Despite Ilse going crazy in the stands, Masson was a witness in the match and it's even hard to predict what shape he's in. Fyrstenberg said it's not service, it's about the head (about Matka).

Cakl - Norman. Cakl behaved like a "Smoked Chucho" at the press conference.

Chadaj should lose to Kunitsyn even though we are wishing all the best to the Pole. His game doesn't suit the surface, he plays too soft. It can be a long match because neither Chadaj nor Kunitsyn like to risk too much and there should be many strokes at one point (even if the surface is so fast). Kunitsyn has far better service. Chadaj played doubles today and didnt show anything. Przysiężny did quite an impression but it is Poland and all local guys are losing (what is confusing).

You may be curious what happened to Dlouhy. One thing was extraordinary motivation by awared wild card local youngster, but the second was Dlouhy's enjoyable night with his girlfriend who has no style and wears expensive things but just hmmm how do we say "tandeta" in English? Same as "żenada" - embarassing? pathetic? crappy?

Have a nice night everyone and I am already thinking what to do to escape to AZS Hall tomorrow even if it equals necessarity of having dinner together with all those people again eating me more than their cakes.

One more thing, Jamie Delgado has got a new coach and her name is Emilia L. :wavey: it was a great stuff from Jamie to give a pass to Emilia but she's a demanding coach, really!
