s.m.
01-23-2006, 01:35 PM
it looks like murray is going to get the last wc, but that is not 100% yet
it´s not 100% because organizers hinted that one of the biggest stars may come to zagreb
they didn´t want to say the name, because that option is like sience fiction for now, but it´s still open
if that dosen´t happen, murray is going to get it

and info that eurosport 2 will broadcast live one match per day
final will be on regular eurosport

No No Ivan will play here no matter what, only way he pulls out is if its a injury where he can't play, its his hometown tournament and he will play here for sure.

I thought SE's were for people who would normally have to qualify, but cannot get to qualifying because they are through to the latter stages of a tournament the week before?

You don't have to ask for an SE. They're a system at work here.

There are SEs listed for all of the tournaments a week after a grand slam. If someone were listed as an alternate on the list for Zagreb, for example, and they made it to the final weekend of the Australian, they could go directly in to the main draw at Zagreb.

This only works when the next tournament is of equal or lesser value. So, for the upcoming Rotterdam tournament there are no SEs. But the next week Acapulco does have an SE because it's equal to Rotterdam.

EXAMPLE: Last summer, Paul-Henri Mathieu got into the Montreal Masters because so many players dropped out. One week later in the Cincinnati Masters there were fewer drop outs and Mathieu was still on the alternates list. But because he made the semi-finals in Montreal he was still playing there when the Cincinnati qualifying started. So he got to take a SE spot in the Cincinnati main draw.

Because there are no players still in the Australian ranked too low to make the main draw somewhere next week, all of the SE spots will be cleared.
