Is 'Van Lottum' John Van Lottum? Is he at all related to Noelle Van Lottum who played on the WTA tour in the early 90s?

Best of luck to the American boys who are cutting short their holidays to be there.

Yes, I agree with this statement (and also good luck to Bogie in his first tournament back, and to Russell, Widom, and Odesnik who will probably have to go through qualies). :D

There will be an ATP link to the pdf draw too but I don't know the tourney ID off hand. It's supposed to be released on Sunday but I won't be surprised if it's released on Saturday

I have a feeling this is going to be a long week and I'll have to go to bed every night without knowing how Alex did :banghead: based on the fact that the Quallie draw and OP hasn't even been released!

ohh poor thing  ;)

and i'm living in europe and dislike those events overseas really... due to time differences ;)

anyways the best luck go to Paul Capdeville, Kristian Pless, Denis Gremelmayr (i started to like him after seeing in his official website the category 'fave drink' and he wrote caipirinha) and Bogie :yeah:

This tournament has a Saturday night sign in, not Friday. :D

(I kind of had a feeling when I saw the Sunday main draw time)

Tricky_Forehand
12-30-2005, 08:50 PM
I didn't notice that. I'm only really waiting for the MD. Other tourneys have listed Sunday as the MD release date but released it Saturday anyway so I wasn't really paying attention to that part :)

*I realize that I could have saved all my frustration if I would've remembered to check SteveG first . Still don't trust that the MD won't be released till Sunday though*

Fee
12-30-2005, 10:44 PM
It might be, but they can't do it until after qualie sign in (I think that's a rule for Challengers even though its not for Tour events, they have to do the qualie draw first). You'll have to set your alarm for this one for sure.

Challengers are always so frustrating. Late results, news too late, no pictures whatsoever. *sighs* Such a shame. And they make me dang nervous too.

Come on, Amer! ^^

Tricky_Forehand
12-31-2005, 11:51 PM
Agree completely. But this one is starting the year off on a bad note with not even the release of an OP . Even though things are usually released late it's not generally this far after sign-closes. I'm wondering if they're waiting to release all draws till the MD is done. I guess we'll know that answer in about 5 or 6 hours . The MD doesn't start till Tuesday but I would still like to see some info to confirm this tourney exists :p. My life would've been easier if Alex just would have went to Quallies in Adelaide...lol.

Silawen
12-31-2005, 11:57 PM
Well, I can understand why they haven't updated. I mean it's the new year and all. It's 2006 in Europe, for one, and everyone will be celebrating.

That's one of the 3 links that i've been trying  . I do the ATP link, then the one you posted, then one related to that one . I understand maybe sitting on their ass for Quallies but now that the MD is out?! Smoke is starting to come out of my ears.

Well, I'm thinking that no one emailed the draws in to the ATP, or they did it after the ATP had closed for the evening. Steve G gets those emails, and even he hasn't updated yet. Anyway, will be the opening of business in a few hours, fingers crossed they get everything up soon. (I'm really trying to give them the benefit of the doubt here :) ).

That's what I was thinking about what had happened. But now my lack of patience is over riding any benefit of the doubt that I was allowing for.

Doubles sign-in closes in 2 1/2 hours so maybe our next hope for any info will be when all draws have been made. Hopefully, in 3-4 hours we'll have something  :banghead:

The main draw was finally released about 5 minutes ago.

Final Round Quallie matches start at 1 PM (which is about 5 minutes ago :) ) so it makes sense that it's still the Monday OP. I got a little turned around on my time zones when I first posted.

 I hope he draws Todd .

If it's Todd's game style as to why you're rooting for him...I would like to know what you saw that I haven't seen the 5 or so times that I've seen him. My opinions come from on-court attitude and how he plays so they don't hold much weight for him as a person. But none of the opinions are positive ones.

Fee

I've never seen Todd play, sorry, I just like him personally. I've only seen Wayne play about 4 points of tennis, but they were both two of my more fun passengers in Sacramento for a week. :D

Amer defeated a handful of good players to reach the Aussie Open, your point being? ;)

It's not that big of a surprise, when you take a moment to think about it. Amer is probably traveling without a coach. I don't think he's ever seen Montcourt play and he might not have been able to talk to anyone to get any type of scouting info. It was a 3 set match which indicates that both players probably had to feel each out a little bit. Amer is a serve and volley type of guy, which can be slightly easier to figure out (for some players), but he is also prone to mental walkabouts at times. Unfamiliar opponents can be tricky, regardless of the difference in rankings, and I had a small feeling that something like this might happen. Amer's talent is real (I've heard other players say so) and it is just a matter of time before he puts it all together and fulfills his potential. It wouldn't hurt if he had a full time traveling coach. I think he will definitely be worth keeping an eye on at the Aus Open.

Yay Alex!

Montcourt is a good player. He's got solid background strokes and has a fighting spirit. Actually, he had lots of injuries last year that stopped his progression. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a kind of identical trajectory that Gilles Simon had in 2005. For those in France who like to follow the junior french circuit, he seems to have potential :)

Oh Bogie

Nothing to be sad about it. He made a QF in his first tourney of the year not to mention that he hadn't play in a pro tourney since September (excluding the WC tourney last month).

Also the Doubles went well. See my sig :D

Mathieu  great tournament though. I have to be honest I don't know a huge amount about him, but I like what I've heard and I'm gonna be looking out for him. Unfortunately I'm not sure how often I'll be able to watch him, I don't think he'll be competing in too many challengers over here in the Uk.

I have to say he amazed me with his talent when I saw him as a junior. Sadly, he's not the most mentally solid player around.
