I've read the book now, or better yet the translation, thanx to Esther.. It's really amazing how they got friends.. It really must have been hard for Arnaud.. I know I would have felt really bad if I was in his shoes in the first few years of their friendship. I didn't know Seb was this hard, but on the other hand I do understand a little bit that he didn't like to share his coach (almost like a father) with a stranger.. But I'm glad they can get along so very well now, coz I think they are really funny together.. Would love to spend a day with them to see how they really are!! OR LONGER OF COURSE!!

Some parts were really sad, like the about the 26th of january Australian Open (I don't know which year exactly) but the year they had to fight each other in Semies.. And how about it was so hard for Arnaud to accept Seb's attitude..

I do wonder about the pictures.. I wish they would sell it here in Holland too, but I guess not.. I'm not sure.

By the way, the one who only could beat Seb back then was called Guigue.. Is he a proffesional player right know??

Just wanted to say a HUGE thanks to Esther, you are an sweetie for sending me the contents of the book in English.

I haven't purchased the book yet, and I have mentioned this before, but try the Canadian Amazon if any of you are interested in buying it.
I'm going to give my Visa card another bashing (after buying my weeks worth of AO tickets). Can't wait!

Alison
10-09-2003, 08:34 AM
Esther, how can you say all the pics are cute?I think the one where Seb's wearing those red shoes is scary  Was he doing it for a bet? :D

The others are cool though ;)

esther
10-09-2003, 08:53 AM
looool yes some of them are extremely disturbing

Alison
10-09-2003, 09:24 AM
I must admit I looked at the one titled 'arnaud with baguette' first ;) ,I was just curious you understand :D

What is Seb doing with his knee on the one with the scary shoes? That looks a bit dodgy that one

esther
10-09-2003, 09:32 AM
ok him wearing the red shoes is ONE thing...but have u even noticed where theyre LEGS ARE?!!!!!! loooooooool

Alison
10-09-2003, 09:35 AM
What is he whispering to Seb?

And does it involve a baguette?

Alison
10-09-2003, 09:37 AM
What sort of book have I just bought? With pictures like that in it?  ;)

esther
10-09-2003, 09:57 AM
LOOL oooh is so funny

Alison
10-09-2003, 10:28 AM
i just thought he was like smelling sebs hair

That's worse!

Alison
10-09-2003, 10:30 AM
What Arnaud video?

esther
10-09-2003, 12:58 PM
look in lyon thread in french musketeers
*still crying* sooo funny...just watch after about 7m30 or sth after they show him winning metz

Lizan
10-09-2003, 05:36 PM
ah poor Seb....

Lizan
10-09-2003, 05:40 PM
but i think you are kind of right.. If I didn't knew that Seb had a wife and kids, I would have thought that he was gay after seeing the picture with the red shoes.. I still love him though..:D ..But pfff, (I'd) better shut up.

esther
10-10-2003, 07:11 AM
loool marine doesn't understand y i think they are so hilarious when they do stuff like that...so i will :tape: !! heheh

u know what i realised last night tho...arnaud was saying in the book how they made a promise after Toulouse in like 1998 or sth that they would never quetstion the umpire when they played each other...and they knew about that before their AO semi final but i was watching that match last night and arnaud questioned like at least like 3 or 4 calls?!! so i was thinking ...what happened to that?!!! weird.

Lizan
10-11-2003, 11:51 PM
I don't know abou that.. Indeed very weird. How is Seb by the way. Can he play the next tournament, or does he have problems with his injuries again?? Cause you know I don't understand anymore. The one says this, the other that.. I get confused

esther
10-12-2003, 02:49 AM
seb? well i think he's still going to play Madrid but i dont think he'll get very far with his injury/injuries as it is...*sigh* hopefully he'll have a good off-season so he can fully get back to normal and have maybe an injury-free 2004???? *dreaming*

rebel
10-12-2003, 07:58 AM
OoooKkkayy!

Now I realise what all the fuss was about - re: the red shoes photo. If you took that to a photo/body language analyst, I think they would have a great time trying to work that one out!! I know hetro guys who have this kind of gay-play thing going on (I can't think of any other words to describe it!!). They obviously trust each other quite a bit, and have a relationship like brothers. It's very cute, but I wonder what his wife thinks?

It's also nice to see that Seb has a thing for red, but he looks like a total dag in that photo - there, I said it.

I'm just reading Passing Potes and I'm surprised to see that Seb basically didnt want Lola at the beginning!dont get me wrong: of course he is happy now etc.but i didnt know that Lola wasnt "wanted" but it just happened!
that's why seb said he wasnt ready to become a father, and didnt tell it straight to arnaud.
well it happens everyday, but i didnt know that of him!

rebel
10-12-2003, 08:19 AM
He was probably really scared and in denial, being so young and all. (and probably annoyed that the contraceptives didn't work!)

You can see he just adores Lola now though, cos he never stops talking about her.

Lindsayfan
10-12-2003, 08:51 AM
Lizan: who's the boy in ur avatar?

Lizan
10-12-2003, 01:28 PM
Lindsayfan (that's vale right, I'm not sure I don't wanna say wrong), that's Rohan Bopanna. He's from India. He had to play Davis Cup against Holland, and I couldn't help cheering for him while I'm a dutchy myself.. He plays really well, but I have the feeling that he just hasn't got the chance to devellop his game. Why? Do you know him??

I think Seb is a real sweet dadda.. As he also says himself :D

Lindsayfan
10-12-2003, 09:13 PM
yes my real name is Vale..how do you know that? :p
no i've never seen this indian guy playing..i was just wondering who he was!is he pro?maybe he should leave india if he wants to compete at high level.

stephB
10-12-2003, 09:37 PM
really powerful tennis. dont know why he is totally unknown. i was really scared in the matches in DC against NL. brrrrr.

Lizan
10-12-2003, 09:45 PM
I guess I know your name from the first time I came here. you said your name was Vale, OR I know it from somebody who called you vale, that's possible too, I'm not sure :)

Yeah I hope he leaves India, to train. But he's already 23, but they say he is an big talent, but he was only this good at a later age (I don't know if you can say it this way). I don't know if it's gonna happen though. But I hope so.

Hey vale you are a big fan of Clement aren't you?? Did you see him play today? I did see him play, and I was actually really sad he lost.

Lizan
10-12-2003, 09:47 PM
yeah powerful service, but the rest isn't really powerful, or am I wrong? You were there Steph so I think you know better. Wish I could have seen him play there :crying2:

esther
10-13-2003, 02:45 AM

Speaking of Lola...it was her birthday 2 days ago! Where was Seb? Wasnt he in paris hmm...

stephB
10-13-2003, 01:07 PM
lizan. i dont think that just rohans service is powerful. he also has a great forehand. there were some great shots and points he made. but at the end it was not enough. maybe he has to play against better players more often. or better not. :)

Lizan
10-13-2003, 06:47 PM
I really think that when he playes professionals from Sebs Level, I'm sure he will be soooooo good in such a short time, but what do you mean with "or better not"?? Do you mean that he will be off the court in 10 minutes??

In Paris?? What did Seb do there? MIght be a stupid question, but i really don't know..

Lindsayfan
10-13-2003, 07:04 PM
Lizan: yes I'm also a Clement fan,you can read the list of my faves in my signature! ;)
Seb uses to stay in Paris when he's in Europe,he has a home there and he trains at Roland Garros along with the other french players.

Lizan
10-13-2003, 08:43 PM
YEAH???? I did not know that he had a house in Paris.. Cool. Does he have more houses :D ?? I know he has one in boca Raton..

Lindsayfan
10-13-2003, 10:44 PM
yes he lives in Boca Raton,Florida with his family.but when he's in Europe,he's based in Paris.

stephB
10-14-2003, 07:01 PM
lizan, i meant with "better not" that i could all our favorites :) like seb or arnaud...

Lizan
10-14-2003, 07:52 PM
huh? I think you forgot the most important word :D.. Or is it me??

Lizan
10-14-2003, 08:30 PM
I have to check if my signature is working

esther
10-15-2003, 06:58 AM

Lizan
10-15-2003, 01:17 PM
Thank you so much, Esther.. Like yours 2 :D..
I actually got a question. Which Grand Slam do you guys like the best??
I like Wimbledon the best.. I hope 2 go there sometime. Seb playes well there (which makes me follow the whole tournament even better :D)..

stephB
10-15-2003, 02:03 PM
actually i should like the french open the most. but i dont like playing on that surface. i think i like wimbledon and aussie open! :)

Lizan
10-15-2003, 02:34 PM
but Steph I still don't understand what you were saying :D.. You didn't write one word, so I didn't understood it at all. You know the one with "or better not" :D :D Sorry really, but I just like to know :)

Lizan
10-15-2003, 02:42 PM
YEAH, SEB IS WINNING.. 6/4 5/2, c'mon only one game to go.. It's crazy you know.. I'm following this match on my computer (Live scores) because they don't broadcast it :'(

Alison
10-15-2003, 02:48 PM
Yes!!! :D He won !!!!! :D :D :D

I've been following it on the computer as well.Isn't it frustrating?Waiting for the scoreboard to update

I'm happy now though :D

Lizan
10-15-2003, 02:54 PM
yeah it's really really frustrating. Just a second ago Roddick was losing.. That would be good for Seb!!

I :worship: Wimbledon, the holiest time of the year! ;) I've been the past two years and I intend to find a job there for next year.

stephB
10-15-2003, 07:24 PM
@lizan. uah. what did i wrote???????? i didnt see my fault. but now....... uah. what i wanted to say is that he could PLAY AGAINST our favorites. and he could beat them. but although i think he should get the chance to play at big tournaments. do you now know what i mean?

Lizan
10-15-2003, 09:52 PM
Yeah I do.. :D .. I'm sorry that it took me so long before I did.. Anyway, you might be right. Do you think we are gonna see him next year??

stephB
10-15-2003, 10:47 PM
was not your fault that you needed some time to understand me. it was me. i mean read what i wrote!!! no, please dont do that again. :) hehe. so stupid of me. no sense in the sentence. hehe. hm. but it´s a hard question if we gonna see him next year. actually we should because he really is good. look, we never heard about him and now we are talking nearly every day... i´m just impressed of his game. not of him :) and so i think we should see him at least in qualifying for masters or so...what do you think?

Lizan
10-16-2003, 05:20 PM
I think so too.. I really hope so. But I actually think it's not going to happen. And if he will come, I won't get to see him.. But hey I've always got Seb huh.. About the thing that I didn't understand, it is me. You know, I have had always trouble with English at school. I always made it with a little luck :D

stephB
10-16-2003, 10:23 PM
it was me!!! i forgot a lot words in my sentence. so where do you know from what i mean??????? but now it doesnt matter. we have it...
and yeah. we always have seb (and for me arnaud and john :) )

If you're looking for the whole book for the pics, "La mémoire du sport" still had it not so long ago although it is supposed to be sold out for ages:
http://www.polymedias.fr/

Or you will also regularly find people selling it on Priceminister, it's cheaper (one copy for 6,50 € atm):
http://www.priceminister.com/navigation/se/category/sa/kw/passing-potes

Hi! :wavey:

It's still available as a .rar file here:

http://www.seb.sinofrance.org/other/index.html

You can easily find programmes to open .rar files online (such as WinRaR). If you have any trouble with that, just let me know, and I'll send you it as a Word document.

Of course there are no images and the text is in English.
