Well, it wasn't more than a year ago that McEnroe pushed Ancic really hard so I believe he can give at least the top 100 a little fight. And if he does it because he enjoys playing tennis, so what? He has certainly earned it.

Having read his quoted media comments and Santoro's on the ATP doubles changes on the other thread- I wonder who is feeding whom what. They basically both said the same thing-tow the line.

In some ways there is more pressure on the new generation. A man in his late 40's who was at his peak in the 1980's potentially winning matches on the main tour today in doubles. I can understand arguments which say that the 80's was the most challenging decade with so may great players at their peak,

Geez, what's the problem? He's entitled to do whatever he likes, and it's doubles, not singles, so he'll have a better chance to do well especially since he's with Bjorkman. What does it matter if he plays or not? He's a fantastic player, and still adds so much to the game - on or off the court.

McEnroe coming back will most certainly prove beneficial, especially to whomever happens to be tournament director at this particular event. An aged, 45 year old McEnroe still attracts quite the gallery and is sure to be the #1 attraction on the Doubles side.
