This week we have the Australian PGA.
I am playing the following top 10's.
Michael Campbell @ $1.90
Peter Lonard to bounce back @ $1.90
Stuart Appleby @ $1.65
I might play Peter Lonard to defend his title @ $12.00 - Juicy odds. The weather conditions will be fine. Not windy like we saw at Moonah Links. I expect him to bounce back here.
Campbell is a chance to win as is Appleby. Can't see Allenby winning with his injury.
Round 1 3 balls
Peter Lonard @ $1.80 over Steven Bowditch and Sam Torrance
Michael Campbell @ $2.25 over Craig Parry and Stephan Leany

So far this Australian golfing summer which started last week.
WON - 8
LOST - 3

Mate I was thinking along the same lines with Lonard. Both him and Hensby seemed to really suffer after making the long flight from Portugal the week before so I think both of those guys will have much improved efforts this week.
Anyways here are my bets for the week with an explanation underneath.
Top 5 Finish
Lonard - 1 unit @ $3.25 (Centrebet)
For the last three years this event has been played at the Hyatt Coolum layout and every one of those years Lonard has been right up there in contention. In 2002 he tied for first, in 2003 he finished fifth and last year he won it. He likes the course and plays it well, so I would expect him to be up the pointy end of the leaderboard come Sunday afternoon.
Lonard to beat O'Hern - 1.5 unit @ $1.90 (Bet365)
Lonard to beat Appleby - 1.5 unit @ $2 (Centrebet)
See above for reason
Bowditch to beat Leaney - 1 unit @ $1.90 (Bet365)
This is more a bet against Leaney than a bet for Bowditch, although Bowditch did impress me last week with a solid outing at the Australian Open.
Leaney is in horrible form at the moment and is far from the player who finished second at the 2003 US Open. Last week he missed the cut and refused to sign his card at the end of the second round and was duly disqualified. Pretty much that sort of petty behaviour shows his state of mind at the moment so I wouldn't be surprised to see him miss the cut again this week.
Round 1 3 Balls
Lonard to beat Bowditch and Torrance - 2 units @ $1.82 (Sports Tab)
Lonard should win this quite comfortably in my opinion. He is a class above Bowditch and Torrance is currently playing out his time on the Europen Seniors tour and has already stated that he doesn't think he is any chance this week. Pretty much the only reason he is out here is because he won the tournament 25 years ago and this is the centenary PGA Championship.
Also the last three years Lonard has shot 68, 68, 69 to open the tournament. If he shoots something simlilar to that it should be enough.
I will be back later in the week with some more 3 ball tips, so hopefully we can all scrounge a few winners out of the Aussie summer of golf.

Playing another 3-ball
Stuart Appleby @ $2.00 over Mark Hensby and Martin Doyle

Unfortunately Lonard is off to an absolutely shocker, four over par through 13 holes.
Right now it is pouring with rain and it doesn't look like they will get much more play in today. Hopefully the break will do Lonard good, otherwise this could be a very bad week :(

There must be something wrong with Lonard.
12-01-2005, 10:22 AM
Hopefully a full round gets completed tomorrow.

I didn't end up playing anyone to win - I'll do that after the completed 1st round.
Lonard is 4 over after finishing his first round today. Bowditch shot -2 and Torrance finished even. Lonard got murderered.

Okay this has been a rain affected tournament but I'm here with my final days plays.
Allenby and Green are sharing the lead at -13. Allenby will win I think.
Round 4-3 balls
Stuart Appleby over John Senden and David McKenzie @ $2.20
This is my big play of the day. I've gone big on this next one.
Michael Campbell over Matthew Goggin and Ryan Haller @ $1.95
